Rating: Summary: wow..i laughed Review: This was a great book. The plot was great. Pamela Ribon definitely did a wonderful job. Starting out with The House Of Smut [you'll have to read to find out] and I can't believe they actually let something like this be published. Anna Koval seemed like a real person to me and I really was disappointed when I realized she wasn't. It seems that she based Anna Koval slightly on herself and life experience. This is a must read!!
Rating: Summary: A fun book that'll make a great gift... Review: I have read this author via the internet for years, so to be able to buy a book from her was great. I enjoyed reading the book, and I will feel safe giving this book to friends as gifts.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT BOOK Review: This book is wonderful. It's fun and funny, well written and imaginative. This is not another cookie cutter chick lit book. It has all the qualities you look for, like humor and interesting relationships, but it is also very innovative storytelling.
Rating: Summary: too boring to read Review: i couldn't read this book, it was too boring and the characters were too inane. i love the cover art. i really wanted to like this book.
Rating: Summary: My favorite Review: Any women who enjoys humor tied with romance would adore this book. I love the lists, and the creativity that the author writes are fantastic. I really enjoyed this book!!
Rating: Summary: Don't be too hasty .... Review: Now don't be too hasty and ever jump into a book like this with such a title and expect downright serious fiction where the protagonist saves the world. I picked up this book on a whim, and it is truly an outstanding book. It is hilarious and light-hearted in its "I've done that" and "thought that" sort of way and makes me want to start up writing my own online journal (stay tuned). Her characters while a bit flat and don't seem to have their own voice, only (I think) add to complete the picture of how she feels alienated from everyone around her due to the fact that she has broken up with Ian and can't get over it (haven't we all been there before?). The rest of the story blends quickly together and it's heartwarming, hilarious (laugh until you cry), and just the sort of light fluffy read you might want when you're all alone, and trying to forget about what's-his-name.
Rating: Summary: little wooden hand Review: Unbelievable writing - I lent this book to a friend and we both agreed it became our new best friend. Love, love, love this author!!! The cover was all I needed.
Rating: Summary: Eeeh... Review: This book was simply "OK." 1. The characters were flat. I felt like they were all written in the same voice. There wasn't much differentiation between Anna, Kurt, and Dale. Her sisters were one-dimensional caricatures. No one felt "real." Even Smith, who seemed to be the most separate personality, seemed forced. 2. The story played on too many cliches, such as the misunderstanding between Kurt and Anna. We've seen that before; it's not funny on Friends, and it's not funny now. 3. The story also played on stereotypes of women, which was annoying (e.g. all women want to get married). I've read her web site and found it fairly good, but I was never fanatic in the least. Saying that, the web site humor did not translate that well into book form. There could have been so much more there with online journal vs. real life, but she never delved deep. It was way too breezy and light without being that funny.
Rating: Summary: Pamie's da BOMB Review: Not only was this the funniest book I've read in a long time, but it got me totally addicted to her website, www.pamie.com. I passed my book along to a stranger on an airplane because she looked like she needed to laugh. If you want to crack up, read the tiny monkey-hand back scratcher section ten times.Go, PAMIE!
Rating: Summary: Not everyone in the world deserves a book deal Review: Keeping a website and achieving minimal fame for it is not novel material, literally or figuratively. Pamie is not a weak writer, but her talent does not translate to this medium, especially when the end product is such a muddle of memoir and fiction. Anna K. ends up a weak character; I had trouble separating her from Pamie herself, and I bet she did too. The story was too close to Ribon's life, and the entries from her own website made it worse. She never established a real voice for Anna because she was basically writing about herself. I even found the name Anna unconvincing. Basically, I couldn't tell who was more desperate to be funny, Anna or Pamie.
