Summary: Cute, entertaining afternoon read.
Review: I think this is the first book of Teresa Medeiros that I've ever chanced to run across. I always pick up time-travel romances (and am normally fairly disappointed by them)and I wasn't expecting much out of this one.

Especially when I started reading and learned that the heroine Tabitha is a witch and a social moron. Ugh. AND a sequel to a previous romance that Teresa M. has written. Doesn't bode well for me, the picky reader.

Despite this painfully bad premise, once Tabitha is swept back 7 centuries, I found myself enjoying this charming story. As soon as she's whisked back in time, Tabby runs into our hero, Sir Colin, a knight down on his luck. They're thrown together time after time, and while this is not a particularly stunning book, or thought provoking, it's a charming, cute read. The best character in the book is Colin himself, who manages to be knightly and suave and gallant all at the same time.

The ending is a bit hokey, as with all romances, and I found Tabitha to be somewhat annoying at times with her modern sentiments. Medeiros also couldn't help but stick a few 'modern' day puns in there that really sucked, but i'll let that slide since her writing was entertaining and her characters believable. I read this faster than I thought I would (it moves along at a rapid, easy to follow pace) and I'll definitely pick up a few more of Medeiros's books in the future.

Summary: Funny, but very cheesy
Review: I was very skeptical about a time travel romance, and was therefore surprised I ended up liking this one OK. It was outrageously farfetched and admittedly cheesy. I do have to admit that once Tabitha met Colin, I started snorting with laughter and continued through the entire book. I kept seeing her through his eyes. I think Medeiros could have played up a bit more on what he thought of her ridiculous statements and how he could not understand what she was talking about. But I let my imagination do the work and that's what made me laugh - thinking about how ridiculous she must have sounded to him! All in all, a funny and light read if you can suspend reality.

Summary: Even if you don't like time travel books - read this one!
Review: I've only read one other time travel book, so I wasn't sure if I would like this one or not. I couldn't put it down. The romance between the two main characters was one of the best I've read. This is the first book I've read by Teresa Medeiros, but it won't be the last!

Summary: I Loved Colin, but...
Review: I've read many books of Teresa Medeiros' and overall I enjoyed this one no less than the others. I absolutely loved the character of Colin though, who truly epitomized the role of "knight in shining armor". Brisbane made a great evil counterpart to Colin's good guy. Colin seemed almost too good to be true - he didn't lie to her, was unable to go through with killing her, was extremely gallant to her, had held strong for 6 celibate years despite obvious tempations in Egypt and actually ASKED for her permission to make love to her! I loved the way he proposed to her too. Very romantic.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with some of the other reviews when it comes to the character of Tabitha. At times I found her a irritating and dense. She had the amulet with her most of the time and since she openly admitted to being a witch in the 13th Century did she really have anything to lose by wishing for some helpful things? She could have wished herself home as soon as she met Colin and realized it wasn't something her mother conjured up for her. Also, she supposedly wasn't sure if her parents were missing or dead, she never even considered going home to possibly help them. In her own words her parents loved her in every way, what an ungrateful child. It seemed to make sense to Tabitha for her to stay in a dungeon with a stranger she thought was angry with her in the 13th century waiting to be executed instead of wishing herself home to find out if her parents were okay! That was annoying since I had already read her parent's story and Tabitha struck me as a selfish brat whining about how she never fit in, how her parents being in love made her feel left out and how her witchcraft always got her in trouble. For someone with a "lofty IQ" it never occurred to her to actually accept the fact she was a witch and work on controlling it! Please.

I loved Breath of Magic as well, Tabitha's parents' story. So, it bothered me that Ms. Medeiros decided to make Tristan and Arian turn into rich snobs (the whole McDonalds and five star hotel comments bugged me), both seemingly to forget where they came from. But it was nice to see Tristan came to the rescue for his daughter at the end. I found it disturbing that Ms. Medeiros made, in both books, made the woman change where she came from to be with the man. In 2020 I guess she thinks women will still have to be the ones to give in. Granted Arian didn't have anything to go back to in her book, but Tabitha? A 21st century woman, spoiled and filthy rich at that, without electricity and modern medicine? Too bad Tristan didn't have another child to inherit everything he worked so hard to for, his business and his billions - Which I also thought was odd, all that love sprouted only 1 child.

Summary: Truly Enchanting!
Review: I've read several of Theres Medeiros' books and have been disappointed by them because of what I considered to be false acclamation. However this definitely proved my theory wrong. Once in a while a good book is found amongst all the garbage being published. This is definitely one of them. Medeiros spins a fairytale that is impossible but utterly romantic. I enjoyed her ability to use comic relief in tense scenes and found myself laughing out loud. My only criticism is that the heroine's personality is so strong that it almost overshadows that of the hero. However I was impressed by Colin; he is depicted as honourable, passionate, and conscious of guilt and responsibility. Therefore, without expecting too much from a romance novel other than a pleasant diversion from studying and papers, this was definitely a well written book and worth keeping!

Summary: Not as good as was expected from the reviews read.
Review: In romance novels, why is the heroine always so empty-headed? The hero is strong, brave, sensible, tender, caring - someone you would want to step out of the pages of the book into your life. The heroine, however, is more often than not irritating in her stupidity, alternating between being a empty-headed woman and a preschool child. If you are comparing this book with other romances, it was okay. It had some promise, but Tabitha still fell into the empty-headed female category. If you are comparing this book with another time travel novel written - Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, it really wasn't worth the money paid or the time invested in reading it. Diana Gabaldon is the only author I have come across who can portray an intelligent heroine to match her fantastic hero. From the reviews of Touch of Enchantment and the author, I was ready to go out and buy all of her books and settle back for some enjoyable reading. I'm glad now I only bought the one

Summary: It is different
Review: Normally I do not read books that go from future to past or vice a versa, but this book was really different. The two main characters are believable.A modern day witch who cannot cast a spell right and a chaste knight with a death wish. What more could you ask for.Loved it.

Summary: Fantastic - My Favorite!
Review: Of all of the Medeiros books, this is my favorite. It's a wonderful, exciting sequel to Breath of Magic (my second favorite). I hope she writes many more.
