Rating: Summary: Loved Zack!! Review: I loved both characters the book drags alittle in the beginning but then it turns both charcters into a beautuful couple. Would read again!!
Rating: Summary: Perfect folloup to Paradise Review: The two leads have had very hard childhoods and that they turned into good people in different ways was intereating to read. They were both survivors. Their relationship was HOT. Julie was a very innocent character after all she had been thru, I thought she would have more street smarts, but then there wouldn't have been much of a story. Ms McNaught writes rather lengthy stories but it is well worth you time. I like this author!
Rating: Summary: PERFECT! Review: This is the first romance novel I ever read, since then I have read all of McNaught's books and many of other authors. This contemporary romance mystery is still one of my favorites! The plot has been explained by many others, so i'll just give you a quick overview: Zachary Benedict, movie star/director, escaped from prison where he was serving a sentence for murdering his wife. He kidnapped Julie and forced her to drive him to Colorado and stay w/ him in a mountain retreat. This story is unique in that Julie is a virgin. Go Julie! It seems all contemporary romances take for granted that no girl or guy can be a virgin after the age of 18. Now, if someone would write a novel w/ the man being a virgin and STILL MANLY, that would be a real literal revolution!! Read this book, it's exciting and deep and romantic. Be sure to read Paradise, about the Farrells, and Night Whispers, to see that pesky FBI guy again! judith, when does he get his own book?!!
Rating: Summary: PERFECT Review: Though it has been sometime since I read this book, I always fondly remember the good laughs I have regarding some of Judith McNaught's character.I don't think I will ever forget in how hard I laughed reading what happened at a baseball or softball game just before Zack and Julie's wedding. I was almost rolling around my living room and tears were running down my cheeks. I have not had such a good laugh since.
Rating: Summary: Perfection! Review: I must first start by saying that I am an avid romance reader and I have read many books. This is by far one of the better romances that I have ever had the privelege of reading. Judith McNaught has a way of reaching out and tugging at every emotion. I laughed, I teared and at the end I sighed, sad that is was over. The characters in this book definitely stay with you long after the last page is turned. I didn't necessarily like Zack at first, his cynical-coldhearted attitude really irritated me but as the book moves on, like when he was in exile, the phone call and the letter that Julie received was the most heart-wrenching scene in a book that I have ever read. He finally came out with his feelings and from that point on, I absolutely loved him! Julie and Zack are by far two of the most memorable characters I have came across in a long while. I can't say enough about this book, it is just a wonderful story! I would recommend it to everybody.
Rating: Summary: Magical Review: This book is one of the best books I have ever read. Judith brought these chracters to life. I was not able to put this book down for a second. I totally felt all the things these characters felt. McNaught is a wonderful author. I hope she continues to write for a very long time.
Rating: Summary: Kidnap me at gunpoint and I love you? Review: This book would have been 5-stars, but for the insulting premise that a terrified, intelligent woman kidnapped at gunpoint falls in love with her gun-toting captor... whatever the excuse. So I hated the first quarter of the book so much it took me three weeks to get into, but I liked it very much in the end. I felt very sorry for Paul Richardson though. Other than that, it was very well-plotted and the character development was quite effective and unusual. The writer is quite talented.
Rating: Summary: A Perfect Read Review: I've never read anything by Judith McNaught before but this book was highly recommended so I decided to check it out of the library. The story grabbed me from the first chapter and I found myself staying up until the wee hours of the morning desperate to see what the characters would do next and yet dreading the end of the story. Zack is a former movie star and convicted criminal who kidnaps small-town teacher Julie when his escape from prison goes awry. The two seemingly have nothing in common but you know it's just a matter of time before passion gets the best of them. They get together about a quarter of the way into the book and I wondered what could possibly be of interest to fill up the remaining three quarters. Boy, was I wrong! McNaught takes her time in unfolding the story, indulging the reader with fulfilling dialogue and detailed character exploration. This book has some of the most touching, romantic, heart wrenching scenes I've ever read. Zack and Julie are unforgettable characters that are sure to linger in my memory for a long time. By the way, after finishing the book I promptly purchased my own copy (a first edition hard copy - it's THAT good!) so that I can read it again and again!
Rating: Summary: Perfect!! Review: The last two reviews I gave on JM's books were not good ones. They were both historical romances. Perfect has been on my shelf for a year now and for lack of anything else to read, I decided to give it a try. I hesitated buying it because I didn't care for her historical romances, but this was a contemporary and I was intrigued that she was going to portray her hero as an escaped convict. Well the entire book was "perfect" and I couldn't put it down. I stayed up half the night reading it because I couldn't wait to see what happened next. This book had me literally crying and laughing. It has to be one of the best contemporary romances that I have ever read. Zack was the perfect hero, sophiscated, a man of the world and Julie was the perfect heroine for him. I hated to see it end. Since I finished the book, I can't wait to get my hands on another one and look forward to reading all her contemporaries. I will definitely be buying more, starting with Paradise since that is Matt and Meredith's story. If they are as good as this one was, I will be spending many sleepless nights!
Rating: Summary: One of her best Review: Perfect was the first book I read of Judith McNaughts and I fell in love with it from the first page. Her writing keeps you hooked until the last page and even then you want it to continue. She doesn't write the classic love story where the heroin falls in love with the hero, they have their conflict, and then get back together again and live happily ever after. There are constant conflicts and get back togethers to the point where you think it has ended but yet there is still more to go. One of her best and one that I have read multiple times. It is a book that one doesn't ever get sick of reading. Great book. If you haven't read it, pick it up you won't be disappointed.
