Rating: Summary: Very, very nice. Review: Again, Elizabeth Lowell didn't disappoint. I hope she continues to write about this fascinating family.
Rating: Summary: What a man! Review: I thought that this was a very well written story. I love the way she tied in all the details of their past together. It was well done. My only sticking point was that she could of made the female lead a little stronger when it came time for her to admit she did indeed love the male lead. If she had really felt what she claimed she would have been a little more adamant about her feelings and why she felt that way. Other than he little details, it was an excellent read and I couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: A very enjoyable book. Review: If you want to read a book that goes straight to your heart, read Stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. . .It is a beautiful story of unrequited love. . .for certain the love story of the nineties. I intended to give the book a quick read, but I got so caught up in the story that I couldn't put the book down. From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart-wrenching account of Julie Hunter's battle with lupus and her growing love for Don Lipton. This love, in the face of Julie's impending death, makes for a story that covers the range of human emotions. The touches of humor are great, too, they add some nice contrast and lighten things a bit when emotions are running high. I've never read a book more deserving of being published. It has rare depth. Julie's story will remind your readers that life and love are precious and not to be taken for granted. It has had an impact on me, and for that I'm grateful. Stolen Moments is written with so much sensitivity that it made me want to cry. It is a spellbinder. What terrific writing. Barbara does have an exceptional gift! This book was edited by Lupus specialist Dr. Matt Morrow too, and has the latest information on that disease. ..A perfect gift for someone who started college late in life, fell in love too late in life, is living with any illness, or trying to understand a loved one who is. . .A gift to be cherished forever.
Rating: Summary: Detail Detracts from Story Review: Having loved Jade Island, I couldn't wait to read Pearl Cove. However, like the other books in the Donovan series, there is far too much detail about the gem in the title. The *excessive* detail about pearls distracts the reader and takes something away from the story as a whole. What I really missed in this book was the relationship and verbal sparring between Archer and Kyle which was one of my favourite things about Jade Island. The heroine didn't seem like the type to attract a man like Archer. I'm still not entirely sure why he fell in love with her (other than the fact that she looks good in a bikini and the sex is really hot). Wait for this one to come out in paperback.
Rating: Summary: Requesting black pearls and Archer-type for Christmas Review: This was by far my favorite Donovan book to date. Archer was the dark mysterious one I wanted to know better. Ms. Lowell hit the mark with this one. Can't wait to meet the other two brothers and one sister. Makes me want to go to Seattle.
Rating: Summary: This was a fabulous read...... Review: I loved this book, especially Archer. What a man, too bad he is a fictional character. I read it in 1 night. The story is fast paced and the sex is fab! Archer is my favorite. I highly recommend this book and the whole series. You won't be able to put it down.
Rating: Summary: Well researched, but not well characterized Review: All the detail about pearls overshadows the romance and the characterization is lacking. If you want to learn all about pearls, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Everyone should read this book. Review: I'm in love with Archer Donovan. This author displays a rare talent for making you feel the story, and especially the hero and heroine. Simply loved this book. Heard it on Audio and the narator can talk to me anytime. Sex scenes sizzle!!!!
Rating: Summary: Good story Review: I enjoyed this story very much. I think this book is as good as the two previous books (Amber Beach, Jade Island), but it is different enough to be fresh. The premise of favorite jewels for each book in this series works very well, mostly because the Lowell fits the jewels to her characters and situations so well. Pearls are Archer's passion, and he finds a woman who can accpet him for himself-including his violent past, and who can share his passion for pearls. I especially enjoyed Hannah's grit; Archer needed a woman who could give him a run for his money, someone in his own weightclass. The tone in this book is more serious, which fits nicely with Archer's demeanor, but it is not too grim for an enjoyable sunny afternoon read.
Rating: Summary: best out of the three Review: i thought that peart cove was much better written and much more interesting that amber beach and jade island. i hope that elizabeth lowell will continue with the other members of the donovan caln be cause the series fell so incomplete, without everyone finding their soulmate.
