Rating: Summary: Hot, Steamy Regency Review: This is my first book by Nicole Jordan and I was highlyimpressed with this um... shall I say hot and steamy novel. After anunhappy marriage, beautiful widow Lady Vanessa Wyndham expected to live a quiet life. But her brother changed all that. After ruining a young innocent girl and causing a paralyzing accident Vanessa must barter with the the young woman's angry brother. Intent on ruining the young man who ruined his sister's life, Lord Sinclair wins the young man's entire inheritence in a card came. It is up to Vanessa to convince him to change his mind. She must barter with her body. After agreeing to be Damien's mistress for an entire summer Vanessa goes to Rosewood, the Sinclair estate, to do her so called duties. What she doesn't expect is to fall in love with 'Lord Sin'. Nicole Jordan has written a good regency that will bring the reader coming back for me. The secondary romance was delightful and I look forward to reading more from Ms. Jordan. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: wonderfully written Review: Lord Damian Sinclair is out for blood when his sister is injured while attempting to elope with her lover. He is majorly sidetracked, however, when he meets Vanessa, the sister of the unfortunate young man he was preparing to kill. Damian decides to put his considerable charms to test to see if he can manipulate Vanessa into being his mistress rather than him killing her brother. Loyal sister that she is, she agrees, and is slowly drawn deeper into Damian's seduction. What unfolds is one of the steamiest, best written books I've read in a while. Do yourself a favor and read this book!
Rating: Summary: Not one of Ms. Jordans best... Review: Being and avid reader of Ms. Jordan's I found myself thinking throughout this book, it has to get better! Unfortunately it didn't. The Seduction was missing that fire/blaze that is synonymous with the name Nicole Jordan. The characters were flat, frankly boring, and the sexual tension non-existent IMHO. Damien was too soft and lacked the excitement of her past hero's. After much anticipation, from her long absence, I found myself asking, "What happened?" Very disappointing. I can only hope the next one is better.
Rating: Summary: Great writing and lush sensuality distinguish this Regency Review: Beautiful Lady Vanessa Wyndham has not had an easy life. Young Vanessa is forced into a loveless marriage that ends in scandal when her wastrel husband is killed dueling over the favors of a notorious actress. Vanessa is left penniless and returns home to her family. Vanessa's brother, the irresponsible Aubrey, Viscount Rutherford, has created a scandal of his own when he plays a cruel practical joke on Miss Olivia Sinclair that tragically ends with a crippling injury to the innocent girl. And now, Aubrey has lost the Rutherford family estates in a gambling match with Olivia's vengeful brother, noted rake Damien "Lord Sin" Sinclair. Vanessa is desperate to save the family home for her mother and two younger sisters and appeals to Lord Sinclair to allow the Viscount to repay him rather than forfeit the family home. Coveniently, "Lord Sin" is looking for a mistress and suggests to Vanessa that she work off her brother's debt by becoming his mistress for the summer. Vanessa feels she has no choice but to agree to Damien's offer and travels with him to his country home, under the guise of companion to his crippled sister Olivia. Once at Rosewood, Damien begins a tender seduction of Vanessa that results in the lady's complete capitulation to him. Well, this is a Regency romance, so Vanessa and Damien find unprecedented sensual bliss in their lovemaking sessions, soon followed by love. But like any good rake, Damien does NOT wish to marry, or even fall in love, and tries by various methods to distance himself from his bewitching mistress. Vanessa tries to break from Damien by suggesting that he teach her how to be a courtesan, so that she can support herself after he tires of their affair. OF course, the path of true love is never smooth, but this is a Regency romance, and true love DOES triumph, after all. Ms. Jordan is a new discovery for me. I liked this book for the imaginative and sensual love scenes, for the well-written (if predictable) story, and for the wealth of rich supporting characters. I did feel that in some cases the hero and heroine acted out of character, merely to satisfy the story's requirements. However, that is a small flaw in a book that is one of the best written Regency novels that I have read.
Rating: Summary: The Seduction Review: This is one of the best books I've read all year. It is an erotic, sensual masterpiece, but what really makes the story great is the passion, emotions and feelings between the main characters. The H/H are so fasinating you can't wait to find out what's going to happen next. I also liked the secondary characters. Damien Sinclair is a rake with decadent and jaded tastes who has no use for love, but that all changes when he meets Vanessa. A must read. Not for the faint hearted, very sensual.
Rating: Summary: Nicole Jordan turns up the heat on this romance Review: In 1810 England, Lord Damien "Lord Sin" Sinclair is irate to learn about his younger sister's crippling accident. The notorious rake plans to avenge his sibling's injury that he blames on Viscount Rutherford, Aubrey Trent who reneged on an elopement with an innocent Olivia. Damien also feels some guilt for neglecting his rustic sister over the years. Damien begins his campaign to destroy Rutherford and soon holds Trent's marker after a game of piquet. The debt will destroy Trent and the lifestyle of the aristocrat's dependents. Trent's widowed sister Vanessa Wyndham pleads with Damien to forgive the debt, but soon offers herself as a companion to Olivia and a mistress to Lord Sin in lieu of payment of the debt. Damien accepts the offer not realizing how much he will soon love the intrepid Vanessa. THE SEDUCTION is an interesting Regency romance that remains inside the sub-genre boundaries but contains an air of freshness due to the secondary characters. Sin lives up to his nickname as the typical arrogant noble and Vanessa is the typical beleaguered heroine. Olivia and Aubrey provide readers with a unique subplot that supplements the well-written main story line and succeeds in bringing another layer of delicious romance to the tale. Fans of Regency romances will fully enjoy Nicole Jordan's exciting battle of the sexes relationship drama. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Oooh! Let me at those Hellfire League members! Review: I thoroughly enjoyed Nicole Jordan's latest. Damien is quite the rakehell. The very first thing he (ahem) does in the book sort of tips you off to his wicked ways. If I must complain about anything, it is only that I found the ending a bit rushed. I am totally in love with 2 of Damien's fellow Hellfire League members: Nick Sabine (the American) and Lord Jeremy Clune (was he the villian? He was too sexy to be a villian!). Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: A Vigorous and Real Love Story Review: I liked this book despite myself, and will look forward toreading more of Ms. Jordan's books. The premise of this book mightturn away some readers but unless you are morally offended by love scenes, do read it. Nicole Jordan draws characters with whom a reader can sympathize and care about. One may not like some of the behavior, but one reads on hoping, wishing, knowing that matters will turn out satisfactorily. Ms. Jordan shows us a bit of the underside of aristocratic life with visits to a brothel and a Hellsfire club. The book reads like a love story of real people with the prospect of a happy ending not always certain.
Rating: Summary: An immensely sensuous and heartwarming read Review: Damien Sinclair and Vanessa Wyndham are a well-matched and delightful couple to read about. Their passionate yet tender relationship is scorchingly delicious to discover, and the reader's insight into each of their vulnerabilities and increasing need for each other makes them a pair to cheer for to the happy end. Looking forward to Nicole Jordan's next work!
Rating: Summary: Steamy Sex with lots of ROMANCE Review: This is my first book of Nicole Jordan and gladly not the last. I've seen her books here in Amazon and decided to try her out. Luckily, I picked & read THE SEDUCTION first as it is the 1st book of the Notorious Series. I am now in the process of reading the 2nd book of the series, THE PASSION (Nicholas Sabine's story, an acquaintance of Damien Sinclair). The third book is originally named "Enchantment" but was later changed to "DESIRE" to make it sound sexier (I think its fitting too considering the first two titles of this series). DESIRE is the story of Lucian, cousin of Nicholas Sabine in the 2nd book. It is due out this coming November, 2001. I am hoping that the third book will have updates of the couples from the 1st two books. SEDUCTION: Story of Baron Damien Sinclair and Lady Vanessa Wyndham. When Damien's younger sister, Olivia, was injured and her reputation tattered due to a thoughtless young Viscount (who happens to be Vanessa's brother, Aubrey), Damien's swore revenge but since his sister made him promise not to put a bullet through Aubrey's heart, he deliberately challenged Aubrey to a high stake game cards he can't refuse. Aubrey, young and unexperienced to gambling, lost everything he inherited including his Rutherford estate where his ailing mother and 3 younger sister lived. Damien meant to ruin not only the young viscount but his family as well. Upon hearing this, widowed Lady Vanessa Wyndham seeked out Damien pleading for compassion to at least partially forgive Aubrey's debt of honor but Damien had other terms in mind. She will become his mistress for the summer in exchange for the debts. Vanessa had no choice but to agree with his terms otherwise his ailing mother and two younger sister (including his reckless brother) would be destitute. Her only request is to make this arrangement as discreet as possible. She is a Lady, afterall and she have a reputation to maintain. Therefore, they have agreed that she will become Olivia's companion "for show" during the day but his mistress during the nights. Damien was attracted to Vanessa from the start but in all honesty, he didn't care about her reputation. Initially, she was all part of the revenge as well. Sorta like, an eye for an eye... This is the first historical romance book I've read wherein the heroine wasn't a virgin and/or she was married once before... I was afraid I'd be turned off about that flaw but Nicole Jordan really made this story truly seductive. Not disgusting but utterly sweet and delightful. I like the way Vanessa carry herself. She's been through quite a bit of stir herself but her bitter 1st marriage and the scandals she was force to face not only made her stronger but smarter as well. Despite all her past trouble, she carried herself with pride and self esteem. She's sweet and endearing. Damien on the otherhand is a true handsome rake. I mean, really RAKE. I have read lotsa historical romance books where most heroes are described as such but none ever enumerates their rakish activities aside from having a lot of paramours and gambling. In this book, Nicole Jordan mentions activities such as debauchery. He is also a very smooth talker. I know one or two Amazon reviewers find it corny but his dialogue spoken in a soft deadly voice just awes me ( the way N.J describes it, i swear, i can hear Damien's voice :-) ). The words he uses and how he says it just heightens his rakish ways. Thoroughly seductive! I like it. Anyway, Damien's lifestyle will really make you understand why it was hard for him to accept his feelings for Vanessa. You will end up feeling sorry him instead of frustration (well, maybe a little frustration). He was confused because he has never paid much attention to LOVE. He snorts when that word is even mentioned. For him, love does not exist, let alone feeling it... There is so many scenes in this book that i enjoyed. Aside from the H/H romance, Vanessa's friendship to the sweet-tempered Olivia is simply heart warming. Even the thoughtless Aubrey will warm your heart. Oh, i cried when Aubrey apologized and confessed to Olivia. Their love story is an added spice to this book. It's heart quenching! The powerful ending of this book is my favorite of all... What Damien did for absulotion... and when he realized that the person who he hated so much, Aubrey, is practically the mirror of himself. Overall, this book is stimulating, endearing and TOTALLY entertaining. A MUST READ.
