Summary: Another Disappointment
Review: I started off madly in love with this series. The characters were well written, and even if they were not always likeable, they were at least all well defined. With the last two books, however, I feel like each book is nothing more than groundwork for the next one. And unfortunately, I am getting more and more disillusioned, to the point where his next book will not be an automatic purchase. E. Lynn, please, ditch Basil already, and Yancy, and go back to the full character development and plotlines that hooked me in the first place!!! Anyone reading this, wait for it to come to your local library and check it out. I don't think it's worth investing your dollars to purchase.

Summary: He could and has done better
Review: I only hope that E. Lynn Harris has done a better job of investing his money from his previous books than he has done writing this one. I read and waited for this book to get better..it never did. I have been a fan of E. Lynn Harris and his books since the very beginning, but this book was a major disappointment. It lacked depth and a serious story line.The new characters were weak, had no backbone and it was full of "fluff". Mr. Harris should not underestimate the IQ level of his devoted readers, most of us are looking for substance, not a world filled with Cristal Champagne and Palm Pilots.

Summary: Not as good as the others.
Review: This book was not as good as the others but it still was a quick enjoyable read. I think ELH fans wanted more sex scenes and details. But it had a few surprises, and some twists. It also had some real life events in it that I liked, it made the book seem surreal. I wanted to jump in the lives of the characters and help solve some of there problems, however when it ended I still had a few unanswered questions. But that's ok, E.Lynn will probably have a come back on his next book and answer all of my questions. He really is a creative author. Keep up the good work.

Summary: Did it Again!
Review: With every novel about Raymond Tyler and Basil Henderson, I say that I can't take anymore and the story line is getting old. However, I can no longer say that. Each novel gets better and the drama gets so intense. This novel was entertaining, an easy read and funny. I love the lifestyle of the high and mighty. None of it seems realistic, but that is what fiction is all about. It can take you into another world that seems so unrealistic. This novel does just that and it was GOOD! I don't see this becoming a movie or television sitcom, but it is doing just fine as a serial novel. Keep it up, because I am hooked. I can't imagine what Yancey B., Basil, Raymond, Zola and Davis McClinton could possibly do now, but something tells me that E. Lynn Harris will come up with something and that novel will be just as good as its predecessors!

Summary: Mediocre at best
Review: I have to say that this book was better than Mr. Harris' previous novel, Any Way the Wind Blows. However, I'm still disappointed with the lack of depth to the characters. Sometimes I feel Mr. Harris has been reading too many Jackie Collins' novels-the drama in his books as of late are so contrived. If fans remember his earlier books, which were wonderful, didn't have this element. Please put Basil Henderson out of his misery, I am tired of him because E. Lynn seems to have permanently stuck Basil with the same demons he was facing from the first introduction of his character years ago. The big question is can Basil admit to the fact that he is a bisexual man, at this point, who cares? Zola, not much to her either. This grown woman knew that she was prostituting herself just for ambition. She agreed to sleep with her boss, in return he sets up a magazine for her to run. When she refuses to "give it up" anymore, she is shocked and dismayed when Davis fires her and tries to blackmail her. PLEASE! Her innocent act was pathetic. Give Raymond some juice. He might be the only character left who hasn't been entirely butchered. The ending was something out of a Dynasty episode; I don't why E. Lynn has decided to go the sensational route. Also the endless mentioning of real life artists is annoying, I sometimes feel Doubleday has an agreement to "plug" these artists because the constant repetition of mentioning their names. I feel I am reading a full-length advertisement. Still hanging in there w/ E. Lynn hoping a literary breakthrough will occur.

Review: I really enjoyed this one, as I do all of E. Lynn's books. 'A Love of My Own' started out a fast read then it seemed to wane a bit in the middle. I thought I would be disappointed. I wasn't, however, when at the end it blew up with excitement. You'll have to read it yourself to see why. But on a scale of 1 to 5, I give this one a 4. And of course I'll be the first one in line for his next bestseller. Keep up the good work, dawg! Chillin' in Manhattan****

Review: For those of us usual readers of E.Lynn Harris this book continues with a turn of events and a change of lifestyle. When we last saw Raymond he was madly in love with Trent, right?? Well Trent and Raymond have broken up and now Raymond doesnt have any new prospects but he still has his heart on Basil who, with a little daughter now, refuses to allow Raymond into his masculine realm. There's a character Davis, who provides most of the drama here but doesnt play into the storyline.
Anyway, in the end Raymond and Basil acknowledge their love for one another and end up together..... so is this the end of the E Lynn Harris drama???? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Oh yeah, one more note for the regulars, you know there is a lot of sex in the previous books right, well I believe this is the first book where there are absolutely no sexual escapdes of Raymond Winston Tyler Jr.

Summary: Raymond's Back
Review: In A Love of My Own, E. Lynn Harris has brought back one of my favorite characters.....Raymond Tyler. Raymond has just suffered a personal loss and is trying to recover. He finds himself back in New York and working for the magazine "Bling Bling." He is enjoying his newfound succes, albeit reluctantly. He has hooked up with longtime pal, John "Basil" Henderson. Basil however has a few surprises himself...of course it wouldn't be Basil if there weren't surprises. In A Love of My Own we are also introduced to Ms. Zola Denise Norwood, the editor of "Bling Bling." Zola is surrounded by a bevy of male friends, including the married mogul Davis McClinton....who seems to stop at nothing to try and keep Zola. This is a classic E. Lynn Harris read. I highly recommend it for any avid Harris fan. Continued success and blessings to Mr. Harris.

Summary: Loved it!
Review: This was my first time reading something by this author I must say I was pleased. I really enjoyed reading this story. Zola was my favorite character. I liked the twists and turns that were in this story. Towards the end my mouth was wide open. You will be totally suprised who Zola ends up with, I know I was! I rate this a 4.5 out a 5.
