Rating: Summary: Say it a'int so... Review: Oh gosh...I am so sorry and disapointed. I am ELH's #1 fan. I wait for his books to hit the store and go for it, even without reading the review on the book. Trust me when I say I have all his books. This book was short of everything and boring. Unsually, it took me forever to finish it...that's how unhooked I was. ELH, we know your skills. Give more appeal and drama...more humph! more sex. The characters were boring to the core. And ol' boy Basil Henderson...com'on now! he is a freak in all ways, but was not depicted as such. Seems like with fatherhood, he found religion...please. Raymond Tyler was already a boring character from previous books, so I really had no expections for him. How can someone be so goody-goody? But his day dreaming kep me reading. Zola..I couldnt wait to get past her story. Quite frankly, Raymond added a bit of spark to the book that was short of intrigue. And what is up with the head shrink? what ws her motivation? what was her role? Nonetheless, I wont stop giving you and your publishers my money, but you gotta give me some juice to keep the blood flowing.
Rating: Summary: YESSSSSSS! Review: All I can say is when is Hollywood going to get it together and use this ( and the previous books) for a movie. I loooove E.Lynn Harris and Raymond story would make a perfect movie. If Hollywood is too scared Cable should snatch the chance. It's Sex and the City and Soul Food and then some. When I read these books I can picture different actors and actresses playing different people. Jasmine Guy, Diane Caroll, Diana Ross, and Keith Cobb as Jabar. Please, believe! These books are truely wonderful. I've never read an E. Lynn Harris' book that I didn't read in 1 day. I can't help it. Thanks Mr. Harris for a wonderful day off. I know A Love of My Own just came out but I can not wait for the next one.
Rating: Summary: Oh my God Review: If you have read all of E. Lynns books then you had better go and get this. This book was the BOMB!!!. I love how he tied all of the characters together and I loved the new ones. Especially that ghetto Jabar, he was so perfect for Zola. It has the drama of any book plus that love story that E. Lynn is notorious for. The end of the book just makes you say AAAWWWW! and YEAH!! The story is tied around this magazine called Bling Bling which is run by this sell out uncle tom black man, who is running from something, but what? He has done a lot of shady business in his life. You have Zola who is the head editor who doesn't think that she wants to fall in love. Then there is our old favorite Raymond who has just been hired as a lawyer. Now that he is back in New York alone, Raymond dives into a new type of friendship with Basil. Is Basil still running from who he is? After an article gone bad on Yancey is published. Zola and Raymond goes for the fights of there lives. In the end, Raymond and Zola finally gets what and WHO they want. E. Lynn even checks in on all the old favorites like, Basil, Yancey, Nicole, Jared, Kirby, Moms and Pops, and Trent. Don't just take my word for it, but all I have to say is "Bling Bling" LOL.
Rating: Summary: Love Found Review: Glad to see Raymond and Basil back together again. Another great read. Read it in a couple of days. When will we get a seguel?

Rating: Summary: Not one of ELHs' best Review: I've always been a fan of Lynn Harris books but this one is far from being one of his best. In fact it feels like that the quality is going down. "Just as I Am" and "Invisible Life" where really good, but this one seems to be the result of pressure to publish. Also I really hope that this is not the end of Basil and Raymond as it seems. Zola was boring and the other characters are cliches. At times whole chapters where irrelevant to the story line. And only at the last page, where finally Basil and Raymond appear, (and I repeat appear) to finally become a couple, the story ends. Lynn, If I may -- it's time to explore. How about fatherhood for Raymond, he doing the cheating, falling in love to a woman. He guiding a desperate young gay guy. How about exploring other races. A latino or a white guy will add some spark. It's time to get out of the confort zone or loose relevance. Keep this in mind, we need your voice!
Rating: Summary: Mr. Harris Does It Again! Another Believable Work! Review: Mr. Harris captures the reader with a very believable story of people delaing with relationships, professions and money. I simply could not put this book down! For years I have followed the works of Mr. Harris and I can't say they are getting better...ALL have been excellent and I am simply hooked! Each book carries its own tone of being an African American, educated, homosexual, bisexual, heterosexual, male, female... I can't wait for his next book!
Rating: Summary: E. Lynn does it again!!!! Review: This book, as is all of his, is very well written and will do more than entertain you. I believe you will look at men and women in relationships differently. I strongly reccoment this book if you love fiction...and are like most of us, trying to see eye to eye in love and life in our romantic relationships... I've had the pleasure of meeting with and talking to E. Lynn Harris several times. Enjoy contemporary fiction? Feel free to look at my book, Foundations: A Novel of New Beginnings...listed right here on Amazon.com!!! E. Lynn has a copy!!!
Rating: Summary: A Love of My Own: A Novel Review: I am not trying to "Playa Hate" but I gotta admit I was a little disappointed in ELH's lastest novel. The main protaginist, Zora Norwood, was little more than a victim for the entire story. The storyline was slow to develop and the characters were very flat. As always ELH's dialogue was realistic. The tone and tempo of story was enhanced by E Lynn's reference to 9-1-1, Alliyahs death and last years historic Oscar night. ELH like Michael Jordan on a off night still manages to entertain.
Rating: Summary: Mr. Harris has done better Review: I am a big ELH fan, and I have read all of his novels. This one left me feeling incomplete. To me, the ending was rushed, and there were too many characters that didnt have to be to make the story flow. I also didn't like Basil and Raymond's relationship in this book. I miss the old Basil. I will continue to read his work, but I hope the next novel is a little less "soap opera" and alittle more realistic.
