Rating: Summary: A great Regency Fantasy Romance Review: Rejar was the first Dara Joy book that I read and she won a fan for life with this Regency -fantasy novel. Rejar is a shape-shifting time traveling lover of ladies who seduces a regency miss, Lilac with his 'potent charm'. This book has everythingI look for in a good romance, humor romance and some great sex scenes. This was the first Dara Joy book that I read and after I read it I immediately went out and bought all of her other books which a distressingly few in number. I can not wait until her next book comes out.
Rating: Summary: Rejar is FANTASTIC Review: I have really loved all of the Matrix of Destiny books. Although "Rejar" isn't my favorite, it is still terrific. The love scenes were really interesting and hot! Rejar is a fabulous hero. My only dislike was I couldn't figure out what he saw in Lilac. She was rather boring actually. There never seemed to be a reason for someone like him to fall for her. Also, I really enjoyed the different locations and additional characters that the other books in this series had, but this one didn't have that. The whole story was locked into Regency England. I thought it was appropriate however that aliens weren't mentioned much. The explainations leaned more toward magic and wizards. That seems in keeping with the time period. As a male Familiar Rejar is a SEXY and unique character. I loved learning more about Familiars in "Mine to Take" (my favorite). Dara Joy seems to just keep getting better. Now for Traed's story. Hurry, please! You don't want to miss ANY of the books in this series. They are all extremely enjoyable. Indulge!
Rating: Summary: Part of a great series! Review: Rejar was all that I was hoping and more. A great look at Regency England and the truly terrible way of life that existed for those outside the wealthy. Rejar's reaction to this world was both realistic and understandable. I enjoyed this story both as the continuation of the Matrix of Destiny series, but also as an excellent story on its own merits. I enjoyed the elements of true evil and redemption that so clearly reflect real life, where most people who do bad things are not completly bad people, but there is true evil that resides in a few. Basically if you enjoy romance, fantasy, and sci-fi I would recommend you read Lilac and Rejar's story. the first in the series is Knight of a Trillion Stars, and the third is Mine to take. I have not read the first, but Mine to Take is EXCELLENT as well. Hope this helps, please e-mail me if you have any questions.
Rating: Summary: Utterly wonderful escape! Review: This book really got me humming. I read it in two days. I would have read it in only one had I called in sick to work, and I did entertain that thought strongly. I have never taken a day off just so I can read a book, however the third installment of this series (Mine to Take) caused me to. Rejar is a wonderful character. God! If there were only some Rejars, Traeds (I can't wait for his love story), and Gian Rens in this world to choose from. Though I am generally not a sci-fi reader, the sci-fi nature of these books definitely hooked me. Of course, those wonderful love scenes hooked me even more. Dara Joy comes up with some really delicious ones. This was a great read as is the sequel. Now I must read the prequel. I am starting it right now. And, please! Let's hear Traed's story soon. I beg you Ms. Joy!
Rating: Summary: Sad waste of time Review: A friend sent me Rejar as a gift. I wish she would have sent me the money, instead. That way I could have purchased a Suzanne Robinson romance, which is money well spent. My first problem with Rejar was the writing style. It is jarringly written in a uneven style that made one think that Ms. Joy was writing with a partner. It could have been that some poor editor somewhere was trying desperately to fix her mistakes, without much success. Whatever the reason, there are two forces at work in Rejar that made it a difficult read. What bothered me the most, however, were the issues involving Rejar, who was at once a charming rogue and a shape-shifting cat-man. The underlying tones of beastiality involved in the love scenes made my gorge rise, instead of making my heart race. The heroine, Lilac, is a simpering idiot who can not make a decision for herself. She is gullible, vapid, and completely without a personality of her own. She allows a random stranger to waltz into her life, and take it over, just because he is a good lay. Can you get more superficial? Lilac is a watered-down version of the spunky heroine I know and love in books by Amanda Quick, Elizabeth Lowell, and Lyndsay Sands. All in all, Rejar made for a painful experience.
Rating: Summary: I'm a fan for life! Review: Wow! What can I say! Dara Joy is the best. I usually concentrate my romance picks on the historical genre and came across Rejar by accident. I wasn't quite sure what I had my hands on but, boy was I glad I had it. I was sucked in to the story of a new a fascinating race, The Familiar and found the relationshhip between Lilac and Rejar touching and funny. I waited breathlessly for the steamy and unique love scenes and found myself upset when it was over so soon. (I read it in a few hours) Rejar's story isn't over yet. We see Rejar getting better and stronger in Mine to Take where we meet with the King of the Familiar's Gian (my favorite hero in the series) After reading Rejar, I immediately ran out and purchased everything Dara's ever written and have recommended and purchased (as gifts) this wonderful Matrix series. I can hardly wait for the next great installment. Whatever it is and whenever it comes, I'll be anxiously waiting. Hurry Hurry, Dara, your fans are waiting.
Rating: Summary: Non-stop reading Review: Bought this book because the cover caught my eye but once I started reading it, I was up half the night because I couldn't stop. I finished it in a day and a half and went to the bookstore to find more books by Dara Joy. The story is sensual, fast paced, the characters are wonderful. I love historical and futuristic novels and this is both wrapped up together. I have already read the sequel and eagerly waiting for the next!
Rating: Summary: Very Good Read Review: This second book in the Matrix series (the sequel to Knight of a Trillion Stars) was another great novel by Joy. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I read it immediately after I read the first book and the first book suits my taste in romances better. (It was funnier, the heroine was spunkier.) Had I read them out of order and finished this one first, I probably would have given this a 5. Rejar is a great historical book (very little of it takes place off-planet like Knight of a Trillion Stars) and is worth the money.
Rating: Summary: Great Read! Review: Not usually into futuristic stories, I decided to try a love story first. Ms. Joy has the ability to make me laugh (which is very hard to do when I'm reading) along with the power to keep the reader turning the page. After reading Rejar I "just had to" look for more books by Dara Joy.
