Rating: Summary: wonderful book Review: Well this is the first book of a two part series. the second book in this series is called "Touch of Enchantment" I read that book first and had go back and read this one. I'm so glad I did because it does clear up some stuff that was mentioned in the second book. This is the story of Arian Whitewood. A fumbling witch who suddenly finds herself flung 300 years in the future to modern New York City and into the arms of billionaire Tristan Lennox. Arian was fleeing for her life and some how cast a spell which sent her time traveling. She shows up flying on a broom being chased by what she thinks is a dragon, its actually a helicopter, right in the middle of a contest that Tristan has set up to give away one million dollars to anyone who can prove to him that magic is real. Well she wins hands down. He still is skeptal though and puts her through a lot before he realizes that she really is magical. She falls for him hard and even though he puts her through hell she stays strong in her love. When he finally realizes that he does love her he must fight and use a bit of magic himself to get her back. This story has wonderful secondary characters in it. I would have liked to have read stories about Copperfield, Tristan's best friend and the body guard Sven. the villians in this story make it exciting and give the plot a kick. I really enjoyed reading this book because it was funny, tender, exciting, and loving. I will definately read more from this author.
Rating: Summary: Just a really heartwarming story!! Review: Breath of Magic is absolutely great! I loved the storyline, and the interaction between Tristan and Arian is beautiful! Arian is a witch living in Salem, and is about to be hanged because someone accused her because he wa jealous. She is given the "witch test," which means the townspeople dunk her into water, and if she drowns, she is a witch. How barbaric! Anyway, she makes a wish on her mother's amulet, and is transported to the future. In the future, Tristan is holding a contest. Anyone who can prove magic exists will be awarded one million dollars. Imagine his surprise when Arian crashes at his feet on her broomstick! From there on, there are many hilarious situations in which Tristan can't really believe what is happening even though he sees it. The growing relationship between Tristan and Arian is well written. They didn't just fall into bed together because they were beautiful people. In fact, throughout most of the novel, Tristan doesn't quite trust Arian, but he can't help his feelings either. The ending has just an incredible twist! This novel has romance, science fiction, and a mystery all rolled into one. It's simply fantastic! I highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: A Witch In Time Review: This is such a great book! If you want to know about the story, read some of the other reviews. I simply wanted to add my "two cents" and say that Ms. Medeiros has created a wonderful character in Arian! I loved reading about her both in this book and the sequel, "Touch of Enchantment" which is about her daughter. If you like a good love story and a bit of magic, give these two a try! You won't be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: Splendid Modern/Sci-Fi/Fairytale Review: This is my first Madeiros book and I am pleased at the talent I discovered. She writes a story, that at first is modern, then twists into a time travel novel and fairytale, then swirls into science fiction. We have an unlikely hero, Tristan Lennox: a cold-hearted tycoon who has built his own technology empire (a little vagueness on exactly what his cooperation DOES). Then we have our heroine, Arian Whitewood (good witch name): a seventeenth century girl accused of witchcraft. Arian's not exactly the perfect Puritan, though. She was brought up in France by her free willed mother and brought to live with a good Puritan stepfather. She is not exactly the perfect witch either; it seems the key to her magic lies in an amulet her mother gave her. Unwittingly, Arian uses the amulet to escape persecution and travels by broomstick to the twentieth century. She lands in on a magic contest given by Lennox. Lennox, needing answers, drags her to his penthouse (ingenious) in Lennox Tower to escape the media. She soon learns she's three centuries away from everything she knows and that she may be the winner of a magic contest that could give her freedom. For Lennox, the contest wasn't just about fairytales and nonsense. He hoped to draw someone out and if she was that someone, then the woman he dearly wanted to trust would be the one to shatter his will forever. Teresa's characters did give off that lonely and alienated feeling that makes me love them, even dumb Sven. I also laughed throughout her book. Very few writers can give readers true humor in such poignant situations. Brightly woven, thank you Teresa!
Rating: Summary: very very cute story! Review: Okay I really enjoyed this story. It is definitely a light hearted read. Still, I fell in love with the heroine, Arian. Tristan Lennox is a billionaire who has always had an interest in magic. He is a cynic though and is not even sure he believes it exists. Still, he decides to run a contest that if anyone can show him "real magic" they will win one million dollars. Arian Whitewood is a "white witch" and she's not even sure how talented she is. Somehow she gets transported three hundred years into the future and ends up crashing into the building that Tristan Lennox owns. He believes she has come to enter the contest and is trying to swindle a million dollars from him. Arian, on the other hand, is trying to adjust to life in the present. Tristan finds himself attracted to Arian and her innocence, but is she a true innocent or is she a fraud? Wonderful story. I would highly recommend.
Rating: Summary: I adored this book Review: I kept returning this book back to the shelf, skeptical that I would like a time travel tale with a heavy dose of contemporary romance. I'm not usually fond of contemporaries. The blurb on the back cover made me wary. However, Teresa Medeiros hit gold yet again. I really did not like Tritan at the beginning; he was such an arrogant, heartless jerk. Later, however, we see why he acts that way and who is really is underneath that harsh facade. Having said that, however, he is also quite cruel to Arian at crucial moment; granted, it's because he finds it so hard to trust, but the scenes are quite painful even for the reader. That is a testament to Medeiros' ability to pull the reader into the emotional lives of her characters. Arian is innocent to Tristan's jadedness, and through her, he once again sees the possibility of hope. He wants to believe in magic -- for several reasons. And their relationship is magic. The twists on magic and science and the mystery of how her 17th-century life connects to his 20th-century one are splendidly realized. This novel is near perfection in its handling of emotion, suspence, multiple plot threads, and character building. Run to get it!
Rating: Summary: Exuberant and Magical Review: Teresa Medeiros' Breath of Magic has the exuberant and magical fairy tale quality that distinguishes all her delightful novels. Arian Whitwood is about to be drowned as a witch in 1689 New England when she's propelled into 1996 New York City with the help of an amulet her mother gave her. Flying on a broomstick, Arian lands nearly in the lap of billionaire tycoon Tristan Lennox, who is sponsoring a contest with a prize of $1 million to whomever can prove magic exists. Tristan is smitten by the petite raven-haired beauty yet suspicious of her origin and motives, especially since a secret from his past has turned him into a recluse with a heart encased in ice. Still, he can't stay away from Arian. He houses her in his penthouse suite as he tries in vain to disprove her extraordinary abilities. Arian loses her heart to her handsome, lonely rescuer, even as she is unsure of his motives. But the past catches up with them both as an evil threat forces them to return to the seventeenth century. Will they and their love survive? And can they stop a powerfully evil time traveler before he steals the magic that would enable him to control the entire world? Breath of Magic features engaging characters, an absorbing plot full of surprises and that playful, upbeat writing style that makes all of Teresa Medeiros' novels a pleasure to read. For an entertaining, moving and very well-written read, I highly recommend this romantic time-travel novel.
Rating: Summary: Beyond my expectations! Review: The hero is Tristan, which is one of my favorite male names. He's proud, dangerous, powerful, and not a very nice person. But he has his motives and reasons for this. The heroine, Arian, comes from a whole different century. Lans in Tristan's backyard, with a flying broom, just in time to prove Tristan magic does exist. This after Tristan makes an announcement saying that he will pay one million dollars to whoever can prove that real magic exists. She is held in Tristan's penthouse until his team of scientifics can prove that magic was involved and not some very well performed trick. But in the meantime Tristan and Arian start to fall for each other. However, his past doesn't let him trust her, or anyone else for that matter. Thus, complicating things. There's betrayal, abandoment, love, hate and many other things going on. The book was excellent, and I enjoyed each and every minute I spent reading it. My only complaint? It ended too soon.
Rating: Summary: I wouldn't recommend... Review: It is not what I expected but it is a okay read. I have to say I felt like I was reading a pre-teen book. I was really disappointed since it got such good reviews on here. I think they had sex once through the whole novel. Not that I am a sex freak but I guess authors like Johanna Lindsey, Bertrice Small, etc has spoiled me. Okay read but wouldn't recommend.
Rating: Summary: Enchantingly fun tale! Review: This book was such fun! A truly imaginative magical romance! I could have read it if it was 1000 pages! Wish it were! I loved Arian's reactions to things in Manhatten and would have enjoyed more of that. OK, the Harlem scene was a teensy bit stereotypical, but I haven't been there, so I don't know. I had a great time reading this book and telling my husband about it. I'll be reading the sequel TOUCH OF ENCHANTMENT, as well as every other Teresa Medeiros book I can find. And hopefully they're a little longer.
