Rating: Summary: A bit of a letdown Review: After reading the first two "Bride" novels, I couldn't wait for Olivia's story, only to be a bit disappointed after reading it. The romance never seemed to be quite as passionate or intense as the in the first two books, and the ending left me ho hum.
Rating: Summary: Good Book Review: After reading the first two books in this series "The Hostage Bride" and "The Accidental Bride", I was a little disappointed at by the lack of body from this story. It had a lot more thinking than action, but the romance was not lacking. I didn't quite like the ending. It was rather anti-climatic. But all-in-all a good read.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing - don't waste your time! Review: After reading the first two books in this series (the hostage bride and the accidental bride) I could not wait to get my hands on this book. Though the story captivated me I was disappointed with the ending of this book. The hero and heroine referred several times to living a dream I felt their relationship had no real basis and no commitment!(more a nightmare than a dream) They refuse to get married and they make their living by stealing from others (piracy). The heroine breaks her fathers heart by running off at the end - I was truly disappointed when I closed this book, definetely not a keeper!
Rating: Summary: Least Likely Bride has a false title and is a farce!! Review: Boy, is the title wrong for this novel. Olivia Granville is an astute scholar with no designs for marriage or love, having little regard for the political turmoil surrounding her. But Olivia's life changes during a fall from a cliff into the arms of an artist, physician, smuggler, pirate, and spy wrapped in a virile masculinity. From then on, Olivia plays the dangerous game of intrique, intercepting information, and struggles with loyalty to those she loves. While this novel promises action and intrique, I found little if anything to keep me occupied and interested enough to finish. But alas, finish I did and was highly disappointed!! Olivia's character was unseemingly out of place and what little personality she did have was dry and naive. Anthony, our relunctant hero, was dashing and exciting; reminding me of the late Tyrone Power in one of his dashing pirate movies of the 1940s. And I couldn't understand what Anthony saw in Olivia (o.k., cliche of the year)!! This is not a 'happily ever after' and the political turmoil takes a true but deadly turn during England's struggle for civility. Anthony, unlike most romance pirate figures, has no great wealth, title or land to inherit and therefore, lives and probably dies a pirate's death by hanging. As for the other characters in the book, Phoebe, Portia, and their husbands were not true to the era and I found each somewhat out of date (before their time), making it difficult to believe their stories or making it interesting enough to backtrack and read their stories. (I find it hard to accept a teenage girl falling in love with her best friend's father - American Beauty anyone?)
Rating: Summary: TU Baseball vs. Soft Porn Review: From what I gathered about the book, which admittedly wasn't all that much, it was quite captivating and almost a worthy substitute for Tulane baseball broadcasts.
Rating: Summary: A disappointing ending to a wonderful series Review: I absolutely loved the first two books in the bride trilogy. I was looking forward to see what fate had in store for Olivia. I tried very hard to get into the story, but I couldn't. I wanted so much to like the character of Anthony, but I found him to be very undesireable. He is a villan with almost no redeaming qualities. I did not like Anthony at all, and the ending was not only a disappointment, I was angry with the way the book ended. It's not worth the time it takes to read it. I'm a fan of Jane Feather, but after this book, it may be awhile before I read another.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful, Unconventional Story Review: I absolutely loved this story. I thought the characters were well defined and interesting together, and the story was quick paced and fun to read. It was what I like in a love story - characters that show some tenderness toward each other, seem to respect each other, a sensitive and dashing hero, and a heroine who isn't a cliche. My guilty pleasure is reading romance novels, and I have a hard time finding stories that don't insult my intelligence. This novel didn't and I look foward to reading more of Jane Feather's books.
Rating: Summary: Good Book, but expected alot more! Review: I am a big fan of Ms. Feather! I have read all the Bride Trilogy books by Ms. Feather and I loved the first two, but the third was somewhat of a disappointment! It was a good read, but alot less than what I would have expected to happen. Olivia did not get married as her friends had(Was this not referred to as the Bride Trilogy), which is somewhat of a surprise and the ending left me hanging, no real conclusion for me!
Rating: Summary: A good company Review: I borrowed this book at the hotel where I was for holidays, and was a very good company for my sunbathing hours while my husband played with my baby boy. I found the story very romantic, and every time Anthony and Olivia met, it was in an adventurous and non conventional situation. Maybe there are some points to review which can make this book somehow inverosimil, but I was only looking for a nice story to keep me company. As it always happens to me that when I finish a book I miss the characters, I am desperately trying to find the other two books to meet Olivia again.
Rating: Summary: Great book dry ending Review: I enjoyed reading the Least likely bride, it had everything a romance novel should have except the ending leaves you wanting to know more about how Olivia's life continued with her pirate. Did they ever get married? Did she have kids? Did the three friends ever get together again. What happened in Olivia's life from the time her father gave her his blessing to when they hung the king. What happened to Brian? Did he pop up to cause more trouble?
