Summary: Enchanting.
Review: "Ravished" is a smooth novel flowing with intrigue and perception. Instantly, Amanda Quick entangles her reader with spellbinding ease, blending romance with a subtle cloak-and-dagger feeling.

In Upper Biddleton, Miss Harriet Pomeroy fills her days with devotion. Harriet Pomeroy has an insatiable passion for fossils. She spends her time digging, collecting, and researching old bones. All is well, until Harriet discovers sinister events taking place in her fossil caves - found beneath the estate belonging to the Viscount St. Justin. Immediately, she summons the viscount.

The audacity of Miss Pomeroy's commanding note fascinates Gideon Westbrook, the Viscount St. Justin. Following a six-year absence, Gideon returns to Upper Biddleton.

Harriet Pomeroy is an insightful heroine gushing with innocent boldness. Gideon Westbrook glides through the pages as a gruff hero radiating honor and dignity. However, it is the humor the author employs which successfully ties the entire story together.

This is smooth reading with a pleasant romance involved; however, the story has limitations. Personally, I enjoy a little more quiet lust before the actual grand event takes place and regrettably, the unending fossil theme grows tiresome. Nevertheless, the author has reached her goal with a charming book.

Grace Atkinson, Ontario - Canada.

-- Historical fact: In June of 1824, teeth found in Sussex, England, by the wife of amateur palaeontologist Gideon Mantell were examined at the Hunterian Museum in London. The famous anatomist Georges Cuvier concluded that they were the teeth of an extinct herbivorous reptile. --

Did the author, Amanda Quick, purposely use "Gideon" for her hero's first name? A nice touch.

Summary: The best Quick
Review: "Ravished" is my favorite of Amanda Quick's books. Gideon is a brooding hero, but for once the reader can understand his pain because of his past. He's not forbidding for no reason, which is often the case with reluctant heroes. Harriet is just a delight, with her love for fossils and common-sense approach to life. The passion that ignites between them seems very urgent and very real. While this is basically a "redemption" novel, there is enough charm and humor throughout to keep it from becoming cloyingly sweet. The unexpected twists and turns in the plot serve up some danger and suspense, but the true joy in this book is the friendship and love that develops between the couple. I loved the depth of Gideon's sensitivity and perception beneath his fierce exterior. This is truly a "must-read" for regency fans.

Summary: Pleasant Story of a Scarred Hero and Quirky Heroine
Review: "Ravished" was a quick read. I thought Gideon was an interesting hero; he's scarred both physically and mentally. Harriett had a unique hobby for a romance novel heroine - that of fossil collecting - but as a character, she didn't grow much (if at all) throughout the novel. She is obsessed with her fossils throughout the entire book, and while it is amusing, she never once thinks about the consequences of her actions (although she does the same thing over and over, always getting her into trouble). I did appreciate her loyalty and faith in Gideon, though. That was heartwarming. Altogether, the story was sweet, the plot predictable, the characters mostly one-dimensional (bad guys bad for no real reason, family members flat, etc.), the dialogue wordy, and the love scenes redundant - though everything was well-written. "Pleasant" is the word that comes to mind when describing this book. It wasn't one of those books that made me want to rush out and buy another Amanda Quick novel to read. It was more like I finished it (at a reasonable hour), turned off the lights, and went to bed, without another thought on the matter at all.

Summary: interesting - cute
Review: A cute regency novel. My 1st of this author.
Better than the norm - of regencys.

Strays from the typical regency. Exciting. The
heroine has an interesting hobby studying fossils.
She's intelligent (without that trait being
annoyingly pushed). Enjoyed the 'beauty and the beast'
theme - which also made it differ.

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: A great Beauty and the Beast kind of story (even though the heroine is not a beauty). I felt that Gideon really fell in love with Harriet. I read this book a while back, but I still remember really enjoying it.

Summary: Quick's satirical witt at its best! A must read!!!
Review: Amanda Quick as been my favorite romance author from day one, and RAVISHED my favorite of all of her books thus far. If you enjoy fun romances, then you will most certainly enjoy this one

Summary: Wonderful Book!!
Review: Amanda Quick did excellent with this book! The characters were awesome! I have had complaints about the character development with some of Quick's other novels, however, I must say that Harriet and Gideon were so real!! Harriet was one of the strongest character's that I've ever encountered in any romance novel before!!! She knew exactly what she wanted and how she felt and didn't let anything stop her.. not once through the entire book! It was wonderful!! And Gideon was a wonderful sensitive man who had to learn how to love once again. His character was one who didn't take things for granted since he had already been throught so much pain and hardship that he really treasured what he did have.

The only complaint I had about this book was that the story line was much too predictable, I think she could have done so much more with it, especially with such original and wonderful characters! However it still gets 5 stars in my opinion, definatly a book worth reading!
