Rating: Summary: Deep, turbulent love story, with many ghosts.... Review: I was riveted from the get-go, drawn into the romantic legends of our "Buffalo soldiers", the fate of our first teachers and this hot-cold, rocky romance. How they came to marry was chilling, and it was torturous as Chase and Cara worked through the demons in their relationship and the outside forces as well (I even read it with my fingers crossed!!!). It is a wonderful first novel, and IT'S ABOUT TIME we see some strong SISTERS in romances for a change. Thank you Beverly, for watering that dry wasteland in the historical department!!! Get this book NOW!!!
Rating: Summary: African-american historical western romance steals my heart. Review: If only this was true!!! NightSong is the second book i read by Beverly Jenkins. I was not disappointed. The "schoolmarm" and the Sergeant, battled not only each other's wits but overwhelming social injustices and emotional baggages from their past. Although the erotic scenes between the two were quite racy, a thread of tenderness grew between them to become the golden cord that binds their lives with a "grand passion". Chase's dogged determination to salvage Cara's reputation as she teetered on the brink of death is wonderfully rewarded by the fulfillment of dreams he never thought would be his own. I loved the historical accounting of the Buffalo Soldiers, as I am a military and black history buff. Beverly Jenkins is so thorough, and her attention to details keeps the pages turning.
Rating: Summary: SIMPLY THE BEST Review: Ms. Jenkins makes me proud. This was the first romance novel I have ever read. I loved this book. The passion in the book was so real I could feel it. The humor was so perfectly placed I laughed out loud. When the situation was sad I cried. But oooooooo the passion. I went places in my mind and heart I have not been in a very long time. Keep it coming Ms. Jenkins
Rating: Summary: A must read Review: Night Song is a book you can read over and over again and never tire of it. You feel all the emotion that the author wanted to convey to the readers. She uses fact and fiction to keep the reader reading more and more.
Rating: Summary: Historical Black Romance At Its Best! Review: Regardless of your race, if you like romance novels, you'll love Beverly Jenkins...I was introduced to Beverly Jenkins in 1996! I'd purchased Vivid and Night Song together because of the beautiful people on the cover. But, I was reluctant to dive in because I wasn't sure what to expect. Well after reading those 2 back to back, I was hooked. Every trip to the book store since, leads me to the romance section in search of a new Beverly Jenkins release. Since that time in 1996, I've purchased and read Indigo, Topaz and Through The Storm...Beverly Jenkins is the queen of historical black romance! I can't wait to get my hands on her latest, "The Taming Of Jesse Rose" *****(5 stars!)
Rating: Summary: The book was excellent!! Review: The characters in the book came alive. Beverly Jenkins wrote with emotion of the struggle going on for aferican americans in that time peirod, without causing the hate that most books evoke when writing of the post-slavery period. I found the romance to be very beliveable which is what I look for when reading a romace. Could this really have happened. Keep up the good work Beverly
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This book shows the tenderness between an African-American man and woman, while teaching a history lesson. This is a book that can be read more than once!

Rating: Summary: I wish I were Cara! Review: This book was absolutely fabulous!!! I am a historical romance reader from way back. My sister-in-law recommended I read "Night Song" and I was hesitant to because I just couldn't see a Black historical romance being believable. Well, "Night Song" quickly disabused me of that notion! Night Song was so believable that after I read it the first time (yes, I have read it several times since)I couldn't even remember the heroine's name! I had unconsciously inserted my name whenever Cara's was used so I could be the one Chase Jefferson lavished all of his passions. I've never wanted to go back in time before, but I would to find me a Buffalo soldier. Chase is the man! This book has made it to every female member of my family and most of my friends. I HIGHLY recommend this book!!!
Rating: Summary: Something wonderful... Review: This book was my introduction to a wonderful writer of romance novels.I had never seen a hisotical romance novel involving African Americans so I was intrigued. I picked the book up at a used bookstore and it sat on my shelf for over a month because I was reading some other books at the time. When I finally got around to reading it I was captivated. It was informative, sexy as all get out, and one of the best books I've read in quite a while!! Ms. Jenkins' story should appeal to all women not just those of color as I am. As an African American woman I am happy to find and author such as Ms. Jenkins. She holds her own with the other writers of this genre and delivers a good, heartwarming story of love and it's rewards. If you get the chance, pick it up. It's well worth your time
