Summary: Age doesn't matter
Review: Lavyrle Spencer has a great writing style that pulls you into her stories almost immediately. She also has a knack for depicting unusual storylines, successfully pairing unlikely couples into an entertaining and endearing romance. I really loved most of this book. 18-year old schoolteacher,Linnea, comes to North Dakota to accept her first teaching assignment, filled with childish expectations of what her life there will be. She is sorely disappointed the moment she gets off the train in a dreary, remote town and meets the rather irritable and gruff 34-year old Theodore Westgaard, in whose home she will reside as part of her teaching contract. Expecting a male teacher instead, Theodore is not very happy about the situation. A widower, with a bitter attitude towards women, he lives on a farm with his also widowed mother and his teenage son,Kristian, who almost immediately develops an attraction for the new teacher. However, despite the huge age difference, Theodore ("Teddy") and Linnea can't help their developing feelings for one another, which results in quite a lot of great romantic tension between the two. The first half of the book deals with the concept of Linnea falling for such an older man and the many problems that could lead to, especially considering the added complication of Kristian, Teddy's son. The latter portion of the book focuses less on romance and more on the harsh realities of life - our characters are taken on a wild ride of natural catastophes and trauma, and not all escape unscathed. The neverending stream of catastrophes got a bit much towards the end and seemed to drag on a bit, which is why I gave this book only 4 stars. Still, it is very entertaining and well written, with very well defined characters and worth taking the time to read. It is just not a keeper for me.

Summary: PERFECTION.
Review: OH. MY. GOD. What a book! I LOVED THIS! Teddy and Linnea were SO romantic together. This is only my second book by LS, but I can honestly say Ive never read another author who can write sexual tension like she can! Whew! This book is FULL of likeable characters that go way beyond just the h/h. Speaking of heroines...Linnea was fantastic. She was so stubborn and what a daydreamer! I just adored her. This is a book that is going on my keepers shelf for sure. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Summary: A classic!
Review: One of the first Spencer books I ever read and I continue to re-read the book every year. Spencer is phenomenal creating truthful, honest characterst the reader can relate to; Linnea and Teddy are realistic and flawed, yet endearing. The story between the two of them is brilliant and, again, realistic; the conflicts in their romance are as appropriate in today's modern world as they were on the prairie at the turn of the century. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to read a classic romance novel!

Summary: I cannot find the words to express what a beautiful epic
Review: saga this truly is. It is one of the best romance novels ever written. You will come to love all of the characters and they will never leave your memory. LaVyrle Spencer is amazing at what she does (or used to do). Her fans are at such a loss for where to turn to read anything of the same quality as she has written. If you're out there Ms. Spencer, please write again! Your stories are the perfect example of what I feel a truly great romance novel really is. You NEVER fail to please.

Summary: An Amazing Book
Review: The best read I've had in a long time. It took me away into a different place and time, but yet I related to all of the feelings and emotions of the story. I am 19 years old and will enjoy reading this book even when I'm 50. LOVED IT!

Summary: I loved this book
Review: This is honestly one of the best books Iv'e ever read. As someone who enjoys reading romances, but has trouble finding stories with substance, this is a great find. I liked the fact that the story wasn't over the second the hero and heroine admitted their love like in most romances. It was nice to see the couple go through the hardships they did because it made their love stronger. I didn't think the story dragged at all and in fact was left wanting more. Finally, a romance novel that actually tells a story and does not just fill in pages between love scenes. I have read a lot of books, of all generes, but few are as compelling as this one.
