Rating: Summary: IT WAS A BIT CONFUSING AND FAST PACED. Review: I have many of Catherine Coulter's books and have enjoyed most of them. I have to admit that this book was a disappointment. I felt that the book had too many things going on. I must say that Gray was a delightful character, but he just wasn't enough to keep me interested in this elongated story. I finished it only because I feel that once I start something I have to finish it. Read it and see what you think. But I can honestly say that I do not recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Catherine is always GREAT! Review: Mad Jack is another book that just goes to show how fun and love go hand and hand with a Coulter novel. Jack is another heroine that is bold, knows what she wants and goes after it full-tilt. I have wished plenty of times that I had the wit to spar as well as her heroines. Jack and Gray are wonderful together. Getting to hear from all of the Sherbrookes again was amazingly fun. The characters are rich and well formed. Don't miss this one if you like adventure, laughs, and a few worries. In the end you'll be able to say "Thanks for the adventure and the love that shines through all of the characters, partners and friends alike.
Rating: Summary: What's the point? Review: I felt the author had to keep filling in space so that she could call it a full novel and justify the price. This was my last Coulter book.
Rating: Summary: disappointing for a Coulter novel Review: Mad Jack lacks depth both in plot and characterizations. It's not up to Coulter's usual standard, but is as good as the average romance novel.
Rating: Summary: very poorly written Review: the subject was rediculous. it was unreadable. if this is a sample of more to come ms coulter has lost a reader
Rating: Summary: Mad Jack? Bad Book ! Review: After having revised all of her early regencies and revisited them on the world, Catherine Coulter has now resorted to recycling her efforts. This is a badly disguised reprise of her Phillip Mericault book with plot twists that are more like limp threads that go nowhere and leave one dangling. For example, "Jack" is a female named Winifrede (why not call her Fred? At least one could keep the names straight) who takes refuge--no reason given--at the hero's great aunts' home. The three promptly move to hero's home--no reason given. Almost immediately heroine runs away and is caught in rainstorm and develops runaway fever which can only be reduced by sponging her breasts, etc. Naturally hero has to marry her (sound familiar)? Throw in a missing magic lamp (which nobody searches for)... Sherbrooke couples who serve no purpose other than to stage all their sexual arguments in the hero's home...a potential racing cat who may or maynot be pregnant...and what do you have? A mish-mosh enlived by typical Coulter blither (that's blather delivered in a falsetto). Only redeeming feature: the two great aunts.
Rating: Summary: disappointing Review: What had the making of an enjoyable story line with fun and zany characters got lost in the love scenes. A difficult read. I like a love scene as well as the next gal, but I felt I never got out of the bedroom. Sorry, Coulter was not at her best this time.
Rating: Summary: Too much chatting with characters from previous books! Review: I hate to be a nay-sayer, because I usually like Catherine Coulter's books, but I was very disappointed! There was much too much chatting with characters from previous Coulter books. If you haven't read those books, you may feel lost. I have read those books and I merely felt impatient. Where is the story for this book? The answer is that it is very thin and very contrived. Many other Coulter titles (including The Wild Baron and The Wyndam Legacy) are very good with a lot more character development and the same light tone. Read one of those! Your time and money will be better spent.
Rating: Summary: Great. Review: I have read many of Catherine Coulter books before. But this book was one of the best books I have read. The story kept you reading minute by minute. Your mind just cannot put it down. I enjoyed the plot and all its many turns. five stars. The Hippo.
Rating: Summary: Fun book Review: Lot's of fast talking characters with dead pan deliveries of the completely absurd. A fun hero. A heroine who though innocent isn't a fool and an obstacle thrown between the two of them that's a doozy. Coulter gets a little over infatuated revisiting her characters from the Bride Triology, but this book makes a nice light hearted romp on a rainy afternoon.
