Summary: Not as good as I'd expected
Review: I must be the only person who DID NOT find the story "Scent of a Killer" engaging, thought-provoking and a great romatic suspense.
I was really disappointed in the development of a relationship between Jenna and Frank. It's like, one minute he's a friend and the next, she's in love with him? I thought this needed a little more development, as well as the reasons why Frank was such a butt when he was younger and didn't fight for the woman he loved. It might have made all the difference.
The plot involving the Russian mob was a little... well, I guess it wasn't my style. Interestingly enough, I normally love stories involving the mob.

Summary: Engaging thriller with a dissertation ending
Review: Jenna Meyerson, photographer, is thrown into the middle of a cat and mouse game after the murder of her ex-husband, Adam, who on the night of his death asked Jenna to look at photographs which he believes hold the key to wrongdoing by Faxel, a former client of Jenna's. Joining her in mystery and mayhem is Frank Renaldi, a former FBI agent and now private detective who walked away from Jenna after rivaling Adam for her affections.

The plot is intriguing, and action and plot twists come in the form of Mafia, Russian Mafia, a vengeful FBI agent, and a legal "leak".

The banter and the pace kept me reading, and the book was incredible, right up until the near end, where all the twists and turns were literally spelled out on about 5 of the last 7 pages. They didn't unfold as part of the mystery...they were actually related in the form of one character spelling out the details to the other.

If it weren't for the last 5-7 pages, I'd give the book 5 stars and state this story would have been good enough for hardback.

Summary: exciting romantic suspense
Review: Photographer Jenna Meyerson is shocked when her ex-husband Adam Lear arrives at the gallery displaying an exhibit of her work "The Faces of New York". Adam feels that a former client of Jenna, the CEO of rival Faxel, did something illegal, and her pictures have the proof. She mentions client confidentiality, but promises to think about it. The next day Jenna learns from the TV news that someone, probably a serial killer, murdered Adam in Central park.

Jenna does not believe that Adam would venture into the park at night as he knew better plus she remembers the limping bum who seemed to follow them. She turns to their childhood friend Frank Renaldi for help but he is nasty to her. Frank knows he loved Jenna then and still does so he must keep his distance to keep his sanity. He must consider his teenage son's well being. Still Frank begins making inquiries and soon struggles to keep Jenna safe from unknown enemies and him.

This is an exciting romantic suspense tale starring two delightful heroic champions who readers will adore. The story line is fast-paced even when introducing the players. The killer is brilliantly described while he hides his prime income making money through legitimate activates like a Time Square coffee shop. Though Adam's theory is not explained to readers or the heroine until late in the tale, fans will enjoy this terse thriller due a strong cast engaged in a cat and mouse survivor war.
