Summary: Wonderful Work!
Review: After my sister convinced me to read "Stardust of Yesterday" on a car trip, I went to go read Ms. Kurland's other books. This one became, and remains, my favorite of her works.

Why do I love this book? Well, I'm very interested in the medieval period, but I've hated plenty of medieval romances...it's the sheer difference from the mainstream junk that is the romance genre.

How could I not love Rhys? An incredible man--saving his virginity for the woman he loves, then after she's forced to marry another, managing to not touch her for years, despite being by her side at virtually every waking moment. I'm tired of reading books with pathetic attempts at excusing adultery.

Rhys is a sweet chap too in his own way, and you have to love that as well. And his determination to be with Gwen, and be with her properly, is admirable. Compare that to the "hero" who really doesn't care if he keeps her except in his bed. A skilled knight and a man with courage, a kind heart, and honor in spades...wish there were more of him around!

Gwen's great too. I kept laughing at her attempts at fierce mercenarydom, though I'm sure if it came to pass, she certainly could watch Rhys' back. She's a good match for him, and I admire her sheer courage and her ability to take the situation into her own hands instead of just sitting there passively like a quivering bunny rabbit like many heroines. Strong heroines are definitely a fine feature of Lynn Kurland's books.

The conflict definitely got to me. I know I keep comparing it to the typical romance, but here goes again. This is a conflict that hurts to read. It's not some silly plot with the "conflict" being the hero being on-again, off-again about liking the heroine and alternately plotting to be rid of her and scheming on how to seduce her back.

"ACtD" is perhaps a darker romance, and I admit I do like my books with that slight touch of real-life grit and hardship. In the end, I sure felt Gwen and Rhys had more than earned their happy ending, which I don't feel for some literary couples.

It was nothing I hated and everything I wanted to see. A couple with honor, true love, spirit, and humor, and a conflict that really made me keep turning those pages. And of course, a happily ever after and the beginnings of Artane. Not everyone's cup of tea, particularly if you just want fluff reading or characters you don't get involved in, but this is truly a lovely book, and one I recommend without hesitation.

Summary: DEPRESSING
Review: Every other Kurland book is a five-star, without a doubt. This is the one glaring exception. The book was depressing. Yeah, yeah, the characters end up together in the end but by then who should care? They've been through so much at that point that you almost rather Kurland kill them off and allow them to be done with their misery.

If you like depressing authors like Danielle Steele then you will be in true nirvana with this sad tale. Otherwise, skip this one and wait for Kurland's next one. Her other books are so good that I'm convinced this is going to be a one-time mistake. Hey, nobody's perfect.

Summary: Amazing
Review: I am a fan of Lynn's work and this book is wonderful! I love the characters and she brings the setting to life so well. Sigh.

Summary: A little disappointing...
Review: I am a fan of Ms. Kurland's work and very much wanted to like this book, but it was disappointing. I found it so silly that all the drama and heartbreak could have been prevented if Rhys's grandfather had just told him the complete truth from the beginning (I don't want to ruin the ending for those who haven't read the book yet). And I also didn't like the fact that Gwen was given the role of "dumb, helpless female" whose schemes always cause more trouble then help, and then had to be saved by Rhys. The only character I liked was Rhys, and only because he was such a good guy and you had to feel bad for him. Poor guy, he deserved a better story.

Summary: Beautifully told..
Review: I am so in love with this book, I have read it more than once., and have given it to many of my friends to read, as long as they give it back to me...Rhys is the prince charming of my dreams....If you have the opportunity to, make sure you read the next book dealing with Robin and Anne..

Summary: Another wonderful book by Lynn Kurland!
Review: I could not put this book down, I read it in less than two days! I had to know what would happen next to Gwen and Rhys. This is a tale of true love that defeated all that stood in its way. There were several instances that I felt sadness at the overwhelming sorrows these two had to bear, but the joys far out weighed what had to be endured. I can not wait to read the further tales of this family!

Summary: Too silly and unrealistic even for a romance.
Review: I couldn't finish this one. The heroine was just silly and immature, and the so-called hero came across as helpless and unsure, with equally immature notions. I lost interest in them both about a third of the way through the book. There are too many really good stories out there to waste my time with mediocrity. I gave it three stars because the writing itself was okay, and Kurland has a good command of language.

Summary: Where was the romance? Where was the magic?
Review: I couldn't understand how they fall in love to begin with, so how did they stay in love? Who wants to read how Gwen is getting married to another man, sleeping with him, and having his children?

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Bottom line; pretty bad!
Review: I don't like to speak poorly about an author's work because at their worst they write better than I could even imagine. Another Chance To Dream by Lynn Kurland is just such a book. Gwen the heroine annoyed me from the moment I met her and Rhys the hero is so gallant he appears to be a wet noodle. I thought a book about Rhys' parents would have made a much more interesting story. I enjoyed their small cameo.
