Summary: Absolutely wonderful!
Review: I haven't cried so much in years. Ms. Heath, please write us a story about Rawley!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent
Review: I read both TEXAS DESTINY and TEXAS GLORY within 2 days. I can't wait for Austin's story. These books are definately worth re-reading.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One terrific emotional book.
Review: I read Texas Destiny and enjoyed it very much. However, this one is even better. With touches of humor blended with deep emotion, this is one of the best romances in print. If you are looking for a romantic novel with a lot of depth rather than a sexual romp, this is the book to read!

Summary: very good
Review: I really enjoyed this book. Had I not just finished TEXAS DESTINY, I probably would have given this a 10. Dallas was not as easy for me to like as Houston, but as the story went on it was easier to understand him and care for him. I can't wait for Austin's tale.

Summary: Good characters, writing suffers.....
Review: It's a pity Lorraine Heath is not a better writer because she creates appealing characters whom you come to care about even while you flinch at her awkward writing, trite situations and predictable denouements. She also glaringly ignores and omits information most readers expect--and like to see--in an historical romance. For instance, the main character--Dallas Leigh-- has a huge house but no mention is made in this book or the first one of who takes care of it while he's out "checking on the herd." He does have a cook but no mention is made of a houseboy. A bride coming into that kind of house in West Texas would need to be concerned at least about dust, instead of staying in her room all day! But this kind of realism is not important to Heath or her story so she leaves it out, focusing instead on the romantic relationship of her characters. She should take a note from Lyvyrle Spencer's ability to blend great characters, a well-researched background, and enough realistic detail to make the story and the characters more intriguing. Heath also has a regrettable habit of using certain words and phrases that begin to grate after awhile. No character is ever said to merely close his eyes; instead he/she always "slams" them shut. She also continually uses "within" where she should use "in," and she is apparently unclear on the connotation the verb "stroll" imparts. Her characters "stroll" when they should simply "walk." I suspect a Thesaurus at work here. It's an editor's job to catch this kind of amateurism, of course, so perhaps Heath is not totally to blame. And it's not as if she's alone; at least one notable best-selling author has made a fortune telling good stories with bad writing.

Heath does better creating characters, although she has some problems with Cordelia, especially at the beginning. It's clear that Heath loves the Leigh brothers and has struggled to make them real; she succeeds in that the reader does come to care about them and their happiness. I would not have bought Texas Destiny or Texas Glory had I sampled the writing first; however, now that I have, I find I must finish the Leigh sibling series by reading Austin's story, as well. Let's hope the writing is better the third time out. As a fellow Texan and a fellow writer, I wish Heath luck and a good editor!

Summary: I laughed, I cried and became absorbed into this story
Review: Strong characters who come to life in front of you, they will live with me for a long time. This one goes down as one of my favorites and am glad I own it to read over and over.

Summary: Another classic from Lorraine Heath
Review: TEXAS GLORY by Lorraine Heath is a very touching, memorable novel about love and trust and most of all, dreams being fullfilled. I loved seeing the transformation in Cordelia from being a woman afraid of her own shadow to a woman who is self-confident and just as strong willed as her hubby, with dreams of her own. Dallas, always being around the company of men, isn't always so sure of himself around Cordelia and that was fun to watch.

Thanks Ms. Heath for another memorable read!

Summary: Inspiration behind TEXAS GLORY
Review: TEXAS GLORY is the second book in a trilogy that began with TEXAS DESTINY. In my research for other books, I kept encountering a recurring theme: the absence of women in the western and northwestern portions of Texas during the 19th century. Men would travel for days if they heard that a woman was passing through an area -- just to catch a glimpse of her. I wondered how a man who spent little time in the company of women would know how to treat a woman. Certainly with respect, but I wondered if he might also feel out of his element around her. Dallas does. From the time he went to war at fourteen until he built a successful ranching empire, he has dealt almost exclusively with men. I thought it would be fun to have a man discover that all the rules he has lived by no longer apply when a woman comes into his life. Because he is a man accustomed to having things done his way or not at all, he needed a woman who wouldn't butt heads with him in the beginning. Cordelia McQueen has been sheltered, protected, and dominated by her father and older brother. Her experiences in life have taught her that a woman's place rests within the shadows cast by men -- and she desperately wants to walk in the sunshine and cast her own shadow. She needed a man strong enough not to be threatened by her dream, generous enough to give her the means to reach for her dream even though it meant giving her the freedom to leave. I hope readers will enjoy reading how Dallas and Cordelia fall in love and learn to reach for their dreams -- together.

Summary: Give it 10 stars if I could!!
Review: This book is one of my absolute favorites! Dallas is kind of scary in the beginning. I don't blame Dee for fearing him. Thanks to Ms. Heath's talented writing, you get to see the softer side of Dallas and admire his ambition to achieve his dreams. I love the way Dee transforms from hiding under the desk to being her own person and standing up to her family. There were parts that almost put me to tears. I also like the way the characters from the first book were incorporated into this one. I recommend ALL of Ms. Heath's work. Feel free to e-mail me if you also enjoy western romances.

Summary: It just keeps getting better and better....
Review: This is one of the best series I have ever read. The story comes to life right before your very eyes. You can't help but put yourself right into the story. Dallas, Dee, Houston, Amelia, and Austin aren't characters that I will soon forget. Thanks for the great writing Ms. Heath. Now on the the last book in the series.
