Rating: Summary: Romance and suspense, all in one glorious book! Great!!! Review: If you've never read a novel by Woodiwiss, this is the one to read! To describe a book like this is to actually describe a sensual, exotic, romantic, story of a by-gone time. Sexual, yet leaving enough to the imagination to be swept away into the world of mystery, and overcoming the unknown. The "Lord" of Saxton Manor is a rogue, in his own sense, yet has an undying passion for the truth, and with the help of the heroine, accomplishes just what he sets out to do. With this book, one will need to have time to read, and will not want to do anything else until the book is finished. A beautiful Beauty and the Beast tale. One that should have been put into a movie. Wonderfully written and the imagination will soar with the imagery that Woodiwiss puts forth. A book for anyone who wants to be 'taken away' and live the past with wonderment. Again, thank you Kathleen for having the talent and imagination to write a novel like this. Is there a second 'Lord' on the horizon? Lets hope so.
Rating: Summary: THEE BEST! A MUST READ! THE BEST, THE BEST, THE BEST EVER! Review: This is the best book I have ever read! I read it many years ago and have never forgotten it's impact on me. It draws you in to the period...you become Erienne. I have praised it to many friends & acquaintences. I loaned my copy to several people over the years, so when it became worn & tattered I purchased a new copy (keeping my original copy, of course...) Then I saw it with a different cover..I bought it...then I saw it in a different size..I bought it...then I found a HARD COVER version..I bought it. YOU MUST FIND A COPY AND READ IT!!! It's an absolutely wonderful book to read!
Rating: Summary: How do I keep from gushing over this book? Review: This was the first romance I ever read and didn't even know it was a romance at the time. The first copy I read was a condensed version which was in one of my mother's Good Housekeeping magazines about twelve years ago. After that, I found it in a store bought it and haven't lost it since. I've read all her books but this one is by far my favorite. It is possibly the best romance I've ever read. I only wish there were more stars to give it. The storyline is wonderful!! It's classic "Beauty and the Beast" only better. The characters are moving and their romance is tender and oh so exciting. Okay, so I have to gush a little....I LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!! As a matter of fact, just writing about it has brought it to mind again and now, I must get my copy out and read it again!
Rating: Summary: A Must-read Review: This is a beautiful and moving love story. The kind of love that the hero has for the heroine makes the love of Romeo and Juliet look childish. You wil fall in love with Christopher and Sexton. Are there such perfect men and lovers on earth? It makes you envious of Etrienne. This is a story that you will not forget. I stayed up all night to read it. Just couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding, I couldn't put this book down! Review: I first read this book years ago, but forgot the title and the author, however, I was sure it was Ms. Woodiwiss. I did remember the characters Seton and Saxton. I would on occasion ask friends and everyone always remembered the Characters but not the title. I didn't give up, I was so happy to find it here on the web I can't wait to read this again. I did some searching to find the title of this book and I'll never forget the name again. Ms. Woodiwiss, thank you for the delight you give me. I've also passed down my novels to my daughters.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully written! Sigh... Review: This was the first book that I've read from Kathleen Woodiwiss and after reading it I instantly became a Woodiwiss fan. I love the characters in here, Erienne so feisty and full of energy, Christopher although handsome but to me his character had a charming, boyish quality that I liked. And last Lord Saxton, so mysterious and intriguing I kept questioning who he is, even though I had my suspicions it was Christopher. Woodiwiss writes this book like poetry and makes me sigh everytime I read it. This is the type of book you can read over and over again and never get tired but enjoy it endlessly. A definite keeper and favorite of all the Woodiwiss books I've read.
Rating: Summary: This is one of the greatest love stories ever written! Review: I first read this book as a teenager. I loved it then. Now, I'm a busy mother with two young children and I decided to read it again. What a great escape! It is wonderful to be swept away by a beautiful love story when most of the time I read Madeline and Arthur books! Try it-- You'll love it. Like most of the other reviewers I will read this book again and again.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME!!!! Review: This is my favorite Woodiwiss book. All her work is exquisite. She has a way of keeping you in suspense. You might have an idea of what is to happen but still she winds her words around to make you uncertain. Woodiwiss is the best author of historical romances.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read. I loved it and would read it over and over again.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful, eloquent and haunting - typical Woodiwiss. Review: A Rose in Winter is an achingly beautiful story of a young woman's ideas about love -- her dreams AND nightmares, and how the two intertwine. Erienne is a soulful yet fiesty enchantress, and her dreaded Lord Saxton awoke tremors of delicious anticipation within me. While I suspected the conclusion about mid-way through the plot, I remained uncertain by the author's skill at weaving her words into such a cherished tapestry. If only I could write like Woodiwiss! When is the next one coming out? I've long since finished them all and re-read them at least three times each.
