Summary: A fast paced, funny book!
Review: This was the first book of Susan Andersen's that I've ever read. I found it to be a fast-paced, funny book. I really liked the dialogue between the characters. The suspense was somewhat predictable and I had figured out everything before I was half way through the book. I will definitely read more of her books. I have searched several bookstores here in Houston, but they don't have any of her earlier books. I can't wait for the next one!

Summary: Fun Loving, fast paced, great all around read!
Review: This was the first of Ms. Andersen's books that I have read and enjoyed it tremendously. I found myself laughing out loud. I enjoy a story where they share the passion throughout and not just at the end. I realize I have another book to order (Baby I'm Yours) and I can hardly wait.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: This was the first Susan Anderson book I ever read and I've been a devout fan ever since. Now having read all of her novels to date I will gladly admit that this isn't one of her best. Getting Lucky and Baby, I'm Yours were my all time favorite of her books. Actually if I was asked to name my top 20 favorite romance novels I'd have to say Getting Lucky is in the top 5 and Baby, I'm Yours somewhere in the teens. For anyone looking for a great read with actually romance - not just chick-lit reads - then this book is for you. Nowadays you can't tell a book by the cover (or the description on the back)!

I completely 100% recommend Be My Baby to anybody looking for a good book to warm up with whether it's by the pool or by a fire!

Summary: What Happens When Miss Priss Meets Mr. Alpha Male?
Review: Well, sparks and antagonism with a bit of tension thrown in. A classic tale of high society rich girl with impeccable manners and a heart of gold falling for the alpha man with big dreams and no money but a whole lot of attitude.
It was funny and sweet and I really enjoyed it, although it did drag a little here and there. I think it was mainly due to the fact that the entire book focused on the hotel she was opening and a few sparse times out and about in New Orleans nightlife. I wanted a litte more action and trouble like her other book 'Baby I'm Yours'.

Prim and proper socialite Juliet Rose Astor Lowell from the Boston Astors is about to open her very first hotel(of a chain out of Boston), what she doesn't need is the protection of surly and sexist New Orleans detective Beau Dupree hanging around to mess her composure up and her life, but Daddy insisted since she'd recieved a threatening letter.

Beau is determined not to do this ridiculous job for some prissy rich brat when he has a man prowling the streets to hunt down. The solution? Drag her along while he gets information and make her wish she hadn't asked for a bodyguard and with any luck she'd demand he be released from his babysitting duty.
The problem? Things are more complicated than he thinks and someone really IS trying to harm her. Torn between wanting to catch the prowler and wanting to help the niave woman, Beau comes to a crossroads. She isn't as cold and prissy as she projects herself to be...in fact, she's downright fun and passionate...Beau is lost...maybe what he's been looking for all these years is right in front of his stubborn eyes.

Funny and the usual witty Susan Andersen dialog, but missing the excitement and suspense of her other books.

Summary: Sexy, but not as good as Baby I'm Yours.
Review: When I first read Baby I'm Yours, I had to try Susan Andersen's Be My Baby. The sexual characters are there, like in her first book, but it wasn't as fast paced. I enjoyed it's worth the read, as I'm sure all her books are.

Summary: Not quite there....
Review: With such a rich and seductive setting as New Orleans, you would think that any plot that came to life in this city would be sensual and smooth. Unfortunately, this story was nothing like New Orleans. The story, involving a threatening letter sent to Juliet after she agrees to run the hotel bought by her father, has possibilities but never quite reaches its potential. Sergeant Dupree, reluctantly assigned to work the case, at first believes it to be nothing more than a babysitting job for a rather wealthy woman. However, after some very poorly thought out attempts (by both the author and the all too obvious 'villain') on Juliet's life, Dupree re-evaluates his assessment and begins to take the case seriously. Along the way Dupree and Juliet end up finding love....or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

The characters were, unfortunately flat and too predictable (even for a romance novel). I could not even appreciate the little character development there was in Juliet. The storyline was uninviting and dull. I also felt Ms Anderson spent too much time trying to add in secondary characters that you never quite connect with. I frequently found myself flipping back and trying to remember tossed in names and family relations. As if the author herself felt the same, we see more than one introduction of the same characters. Maybe to save the reader from flipping too far back. The more steamier parts of the book were just that...steamy. With no real relationship established between Dupree and Juliet, the attempted love scenes were empty...and unfulfilling. Had I been born in New Orleans, I would have felt a little aggravated with the author's attempt to use the city as the background for this novel. Sadly her attempt at capturing the sensual nature and qualities of the city (and plot for this story) fall far from the mark. I enjoyed Ms. Anderson's other novels and I believe her other writings to be of a higher caliber. Maybe this was just a rushed job.
