Summary: Not quite what I was expecting
Review: I was expecting Susan Andersen's next book to be as fast-paced and funny as "Baby I'm Yours" (which is one of the very best romance books I've ever read). All I can say is that this one didn't measure up. It was just "okay"--worth reading, but not much to get excited about.

Summary: Funny and Engaging
Review: If you like authors like Susan Elizabeth Phillips, you will also like Susan Andersen. They write very similarly, with the major exception being that while Phillips' heroes are typically either football players or golfers, Andersen's heroes are usually cops or something along that line.

Between this book and Baby I'm Yours, Andersen has gone on my "automatic buy" list. Her writing is marvelous and her characters are very endearing. Overly macho heroes brought to heel by feisty (often mismatched) heroines, hilarious dialogue, & sizzling erotic tension...you gotta love her :)

Summary: It was a fun and romantic book to read!
Review: It was a feel-good book that was a lot of fun. You can feel yourself get attached to the characters as you read.

Summary: Typical Andersen...
Review: Juliet Astor Lowell has a job to do that she's determined to do right. When her father insists on her having a bodyguard from the New Orleans Police Department, after a threatening letter, Juliet agrees with his plans...until she meets her bodyguard. Beau Dupree is the kind of man that Juliet has never been around. He's outrageous, goregous, and outspoken. Nothing like the men that have been in Juliet's life. Soon she realizes that she doesn't want the men she's used to, she wants Beau, but she wonders if she's woman enough to keep him.

Beau Dupree has a personal investment in the case against the 'Panty Snatcher'. When his own sister is victimized, Beau promises himself and his sister that he will catch the pervert who violated her. When he gets ordered on a case to guard Juliet Rose Astor Lowell, he is livid...at first. Then he realizes that there is way more to the prim Juliet than what she shows to people. Beneath her polish and snobby facade is a senuous woman that Beau is determined to uncover.

Andersen gives her normal wacky plot, weaving humorous suspense along with senuous sex between the characters. She also brings us secondary characters that the reader will root for. A good read that you won't regret spending time reading.

Summary: A Fun Read!!
Review: Juliet Rose Astor Lowell had just arrived in New Orleans for the grand opening of her father's newest hotel. Away from her grandmother's rigid constraints, she thought she would have more freedom than she had at home but to her dismay, her father informed her that he requested police protection for her after he received a letter protesting the opening of the New Orleans Garden Crown. She didn't need a bodyguard and the police detective assigned to her was too macho, too pushy, too big, and too virile. But she was a lady and there was no way she would loose control!

Sergeant Beau Dupree raised his three orphaned sisters and looked forward to his freedom. He was the lucky officer assigned to protect Miss Lowell. But with more important things to do than "babysit" a beautiful, rich Yankee lady, he devised a plan. He would take her to some of the most questionable joints in town. She would then request a more suitable detective to guard her! Little did he realize that she would turn out to be more than he could handle!

Be My Baby, is the second installment of Ms. Andersen's "baby" stories and it is one of my favorites. This is a light and fast paced story with steamy love scenes as only Susan can write them. The secondary characters include Beau's sisters and I think you will find them charming. I hope you enjoy this truly delightful read as much as I did.

Summary: A winner
Review: Juliet Rose Astor Lowell leaves her beloved Boston to oversee the renovation of her family's New Orleans Garden Crown Hotel. However, when the company receives a threatening letter over opening the Big Easy hotel, Juliet's father arranges for her to receive local police protection. Juliet is extremely disappointed because she was looking forward to some enjoyment without the ever watching eyes of her grandmother. However, compared to her baby sitter, Juliet finds the police protection a lark.

Sergeant Beau Dupree wants off the inane assignment. He decides to act disgusting and depraved in an attempt to have Juliet ask his superior to remove him. Beau accompanied by Juliet searches for clues in burlesque shows. However, he changes his mind when he realizes a real assailant is trying to kill his charge. As he suddenly takes this job seriously, Beau and Juliet fall in love with one another. Still, if he manages to keep them alive, can a lasting relationship form between the cop and the staid northerner?

Anyone who peruses BE MY BABY will want to locate other works (see BABY I'M YOURS) from the sassy word processor of Susan Anderson. The jocular story line is witty and sexy, a rare combination that only the best can produce. The lead protagonists are a humorous duet, who will foster reader attention. With more novels like this, Ms. Anderson will be recognized as the champion of the riposte, heated romance novel.

Summary: A Fun Story
Review: Set in one of my favorite cities New Orleans is the back drop for this witty story of high society Juliet Rose Astor Lowell and NOPD Beau Dupree.

Juliet's father feels that a note that was sent to the family business requires a bodyguard. Juliet does not know this until she lands in New Orleans. Beau is a cop that has raised his three baby sisters. He can hardly wait to get out and date again. Bodyguard duty is the last thing he wants or needs.

The chemistry is great and the story is funny and touching. Worth reading at least once.

Summary: Enjoyable
Review: Susan Andersen did not disappoint, this book's characters were humorous. delightful and so visual for me. I love " the Big Easy " and her characters were so typical of that enchanting city. I did not put the book down until finished.

Summary: Funny but a Little Contrived
Review: Susan Andersen has a real talent with funny situations- the straigt-laced Bostonian dragged through sleaziest strip bars on Bourbon Street, the Panty Snatcher et al, and her visuals on the night life in New Orleans are dead on target, but some of the plot twists in "Be My Baby" seem to be there solely for the sake of "what happens next."

Some of the characters do things that are completely out of character, and the scene on the barge is a real stretch, even for my over-active imagination. And the detective acts like a jerk throughout half the book.

Regardless, the book is an entertaining read if you can get over the lack of plausibility in a couple of the scenes, and I look forward to reading Ms. Andersen's next book.
