Rating: Summary: Hillarious Review: I have never laughed so much as I did with this story. Within the first few pages are heroine, Kathy had been sent back in time 400 yrs into the path of 3 Scots men (with only her hair styling equipment & a sack full of toys, which take on a life of their own) one who she thought was about to be attacked. She decides she has to save this man & armed with her can of mousse attacks the other 2 & on their manparts with the mousse. They run of thinking they are going to drop of after Kathy says something to them. This is just 1 of of the hillarious things that happens to her on her journey into the past. Nina's story reminds me of many of Sandra Hill's books(of which I am a great fan off). They can both write very hot, steamy stories as well as give us plenty to laugh about. I do hope Nina will do a sequel for Neil & Coco. They were marvelous & truly deserve their own story.
Rating: Summary: A Great Read! Highly Recommend! Review: I never expected to find a witty tone when I picked up this book but I was pleasantly surprised. Kathy is a strong, fiercely independent New Yorker who finds herself in Scotland in the 16th century confronted with a charming and breathtaking Pleasure Master. Ian is a man who lives for his title and has never tasted love, until... This novel made me laugh, cry and fall in love. The story is a journey of magic and a time travel adventure. Kathy is a unique heroine who has a great sense of humor, and this story is a paranormal delight. The pacing is fast and fun. The ending is sweet and makes you ache for more of these lively characters and their special story filled with magical toys and a loyal cat. I'm so glad I found this novel and decided to read it. Once you pick this book up, be ready to suspend your disbelief and go on a witty ride through Scotland with the Pleasure Master.
Rating: Summary: The Pleasure Master Review: I really enjoyed the humor and the talking toys. The story was wonderfully embracing. I think if you enjoy time travel romance books, you'll enjoy this one.
Rating: Summary: A very good time with this book Review: I received it just a day before my final divorce proceedings: it made my time pleasant, my night fun. I admire how she can make the hero speak différent, yet it does not perturb our reading. Do not expect a lot of hot scenes, it is more subtle, warm and very good reading.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: I thoroughly enjoyed Nina Bangs' book, The Pleasure Master. It was funny, entertaining, and sexy. Once I started the book I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it. It's a must read for anyone who enjoys romance with some humor.
Rating: Summary: funny but not very interesting Review: I was very excited when I bought this book. I mean the cover art and the title made it seem like it would be very hot. Well it wasn't it fizzled. The humor was great. I loved the toy Peter but the main characters of Ian, the Pleasure Master, and Kathy the hairdresser from present day New York, were lacking in substance. I did like the interaction between Neil, the brother and Coco Kathy's lawyer, but that couldn't help this story much. I wish it could have been better.
Rating: Summary: SOMETIMES TIME-TRAVEL JUST ROCKS!!!!!!! Review: I've only really liked a handful of time-travel books (Karen Marie-Moning), but this one has just been added. It was funny and the hero is to die for. Nina Bangs is awesome!
Rating: Summary: What an engaging book! I thoroughly enjoyed it! Review: If you like a wry bit of humor with your romance, this book will suit you fine. It's funny, sensual, and the hero is to die for! I really liked this book and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Lots of Fun Review: If you're looking for a sweet, silly romance, this is a great choice. The story generates lots of smiles and sighs and the characters were all likable and colorful. I would have given it 5 stars except for the slightly confusing start and the 'just-ok' epilogue. Still, the book is definitely worth buying. This was my first Nina Bangs book and I'm looking forward to more.
Rating: Summary: Outrageous fun but shallow development Review: It is true that THE PLEASURE MASTER by time-travel romance writer Nina Bangs is outrageous fun with her ribald and irreverent humour when Kathy Bartlett, a hair-stylist in the 20th century miraculously gets transported to 1542, Scotland and meets Ian Ross. She protects herself with tools, her cans of spray mousse and electronic toy that spouts quotes from movies and her only connection to her former world is a handphone. Ian Ross is piqued by this woman who claims to be Kathy of Hair and seduces her to claim his mastery on women. Yet her presence makes him vulnerable. He shares an emotional connection and her refusal made him diginifed and not looked upon as a sex-slave. There is fun and comedy yet to last a novel of 300 pages long is insufficient - the first part of the story comes desperately thin and easily forgettable. The sex though is hot and passionate cannot cover the shallow tale with its lack of development. It is thus fortunate that Kathy and Ian are both appealing characters with their cluelessness and cynicism. The PLEASURE MASTER can only be a fleeting shallow pleasure at its best.
