Summary: Another winning entry in the MacLeod/de Piaget saga
Review: Lynn Kurland has done it again. She's written a sexy, intense, humorous time-travel ghost story that I just couldn't put down. I won't bore you by repeating all that has been said about the plot in other reviews. If you're a fan of Ms Kurland's, why haven't you read this yet? If you haven't read anything of hers, read this one. Then I dare you to not ... order all her other wonderful books.

Summary: The ghosties and boggles continue
Review: Lynn Kurland's accounts of the McLeod's and De Piaget's is continued in this wonderful piece of work. There is no author to compare when combining time travel and the paranormal. Her books are touching, witty and a joy to read. The only reason I did not give it 5* is the lack of intimate encounters. I prefer a bit of steam in my romances. I respect that some authors do not care to write this into their pieces but that keeps them from being top notch for this reader. That withstanding, this is an incredible masterpiece I highly recommend

Summary: Hmmm ... anyone notice ...
Review: Now did anyone notice how this is almost the EXACT same story line as Stardust of Yesterday?? Except the roles are switched and now the ghost is female! I mean come on .. how far do you have to reach!

Summary: One of her best
Review: The last couple of Ms. Kurland's books did not catch my interest as her first few. This one was a pleasant surprise. The writing flowed very smoothly and I especially liked the comic aspects thrown in with the "ghostly garrison." This book reminded me of her first book. I knew that the problem of the ghost and the hero would be solved by the end of the book, and I was pleased with how all of the male ghosts were supportive of the hero's plan to save "herself" in the past.

Summary: Eh...very drawn out, tepid romance, but sometimes amusing.
Review: The story: Betrayed by her new husband, lovely Scottish bride Iolanthe MacLeod dies by the sword in the fall of 1382 in a landlocked keep on the English moors, far from the sea she loves. She gives up on her dreams of a man coming to rescue her and spends the next 600 years haunting the castle were she was killed. However, when Thomas McKinnon arrives to see the castle he purchased in 2001, she recognizes him as the man from her dreams. At first all Thomas wants to do is restore his crumbling old castle, but he finds himself falling in love with a ghost. Now all he has to do is find a way for Iolanthe to become a permanent part of his world.

This is my first book to read by Lynn Kurland, and to be fair, it would have been better if I had read her other books first. She has a whole series on the MacLeods/MacKinnons/De Piagets. However, I do think that books in a series should be able to stand on their own and this falls a little short. There are too many back stories that need to be explained, and a lot of loose ends that are not tied (presumably these will be explained in later books).
This story does invovle time travel, and ghosts, so it requires a lot of imagination on the reader's part. The relationship between Thomas and the ghost inhabitants of the castle is quite funny and some of the supporting characters are quite likable. I loved the part where Iolanthe uses Thomas's computer to teach the garrison how to read. The part of the story where Thomas rescue's Iolanthe is also quite exciting and romantic. There are no love scenes in this book, only a few kisses and embraces. There is some violence and descritpions of battle scenes. If you like books in a series, I would recommend this book, but if not, then you may want to skip this one.

Summary: This book is not for everybody.
Review: This is the first book by Kurland that I have read and it was indeed a good story that kept me interested for the most part. The romance between Thomas McKinnon and Iolanthe MacLeod is a good old fashioned love story with a twist--Iolanthe is a 600 hundred year old ghost!

The story begins quick and alot of characters (some ghosts)are introduced in the opening chapters and add substance to the story. Thomas has the ability to see spirits that other people cannot and he strikes up friendships with many of them. The setting is England/Scotland and after reading this tale I have a strange desire to learn Gaelic!

However, there are some bad points in the tale. For one stories that were being developed in the beginning were left hanging in the end and many questions went unanswered (I hate loose ends!). The story also seems to speed up near the end and some good ideas were never fully developed. Since this is part of a larger story by Kurland, I am thinking that maybe these questions were answered in previous books or will be answered in future ones. I do highly recommend this novel and I will probably read more Kurland in the future.

Summary: A definite keeper!
Review: This is the first Lynn Kurland book I have read and I loved it! I loved the ghost characters and their personalities. How many other books can you say that the story revolved around ghosts? This is one book that will grab you and you will not want to put it down. I do not have one complaint about this book, I loved it all!! I will be ordering the rest of Lynn Kurland's books, for I am hooked now :)

Summary: Another wonderful paranormal romance by Kurland.
Review: Thomas McKinnon is having visions. Visions of Mickey Mouse ears floating in the back of his car, in the bushes in front of his house, and the last straw: settled on top of the head of a Scottish Highlander decked out in full battle regalia in his living room. He determines this to be a sure sign that he needs a vacation. The successful businessman packs up, closes his seaside Maine house and flies off to Scotland to restore the crumbling old castle he's recently purchased. Poor Thomas, however, hasn't escaped his visions. Upon his arrival in Scotland they only multiply. He apparently has inherited "the sight" his mother always claimed to have. Thomas curses the ability to see and hear ghosts until he visits his castle and meets the "lady of the keep" - Iolanthe MacLeod. Hauntingly beautiful and deeply melancholy, Iolanthe affects Thomas like no other. His goal is to make this spirit/woman happy, any way he can.

Iolanthe MacLeod chose death by the sword of her new husband six centuries ago, rather than reveal her family's secret -- the only reason the "English-man" married her, come to find out. Former dreams of a darkly handsome, strong man, with a mighty sword coming to rescue Iolanthe from her miserable life with her stepfamily, were just that -- dreams. Now, centuries later, the man in her dreams stands before her. Too late.

The two develop a tentative, heartwarming relationship and as it progresses, Iolanthe is happy to just gaze upon Thomas and talk to him. Thomas is willing to settle for that, too, until Iolanthe's secret is revealed. There is a chance they could be together in the mortal world. Thomas travels to Iolanthe's ancestral home to uncover the truth and the possibilities.

Lynn Kurland delivers a powerfully emotional tale of romantic love between two beings seemingly fated to never be together in the mortal world. Thomas and Iolanthe are two very sympathetic and three dimensional characters. Their characteristics and dialogue are both humorous and heart-tugging. The ghosts are real in and of themselves, lending both humor and drama to the tale, "helping" Thomas and Iolanthe along the way.

Lynn Kurland is a master at wringing emotion from the reader. She melds together all aspects of the story seamlessly and delights us with glimpses of characters from past novels who all tie in with Thomas and Iolanthe. A surpising poignant twist toward the end will leave readers breathless and reaching for the tissues.

MY HEART STOOD STILL is a heart-stopping, fast paced novel of true love. Don't expect steamy sex -- that isn't Kurland's style. Expect a strong, yet compassionate and loving hero, willing to do anything to win his lady. The lady, however, needs a wee bit more convincing that it's possible her dreams just might come true. Grab the tissues and settle in for a highly satisfying ten hanky read!
