Review: ONE OF THE FIRST ROMANCES I EVER READ WAS A PIRATE STORY.THE STORY WAS SO LUDICROUS AND FULL OF CLICHES, I THREW IT AWAY AND SWORE I WOULD NEVER READ ANOTHER PIRATE STORY AGAIN.
SO THIS WAS WHY I HESITATED BEFORE I PICKED UP THIS BOOK BUT ALL THE WONDERFUL REVIEWS HERE AND ON OTHER SITES FINALLY CONVINCED ME. I'M SOOO GLAD I DID! THIS BOOK IS WORTH 10 STARS!IT IS THAT WONDERFUL!
THIS IS THE STORY OF LAZAR AND ALLEGRA. LAZAR WAS BORN THE PRINCE OF THE ISLAND OF ASCENCION. THE MAN WHO WOULD SOMEDAY BE KING. HOWEVER, HIS FAMILY WAS MURDERED BEFORE HIS VERY EYES WHEN HE WAS A BOY AND THE ISLAND WAS TAKEN OVER BY THE GREEDY, EVIL GENOANS. LAZAR WAS ABLE TO ESCAPE UNHARMED BY JUMPING OFF A CLIFF INTO THE SEA. WHAT HAPPENS TO HIM AFTER HIS ESCAPE WILL HAVE YOU REACHING FOR YOUR HANKIE. ANYWAY, HE EVENTUALLY BECOMES A PIRATE AND PLOTS TO KILL ALLEGRA, THE DAUGHTER OF THE MAN HE THINKS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS FAMILY'S MURDER, AND SACK AND BURN THE CITY THE USURPERS HAVE BUILT. WHEN HE LAYS EYES ON THE FAIR ALLEGRA HE FINDS HE DOESN'T HAVE THE HEART TO KILL HER AND TAKES HER CAPTIVE INSTEAD. AND THIS IS WHERE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL,TOUCHING LOVE STORY I HAVE READ IN A LONG TIME BEGINS.
IF YOU'RE A SUCKER FOR TORTURED HEROS WITH SOULFUL EYES LIKE I AM THEN THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU! LAZAR IS HEARTBREAKINGLY VULNERABLE AND OH SOO TORTURED! THIS IS THE FIRST AND ONLY BOOK I HAVE READ BY THIS AUTHOR BUT IT WON'T BE THE LAST. MS. FOLEY HAS EARNED A PLACE ON MY KEEPERS SHELF AND IT IS WELL DESERVED.
TRULY A REMARKABLE BOOK.

Review: The Pirate Prince is one of the best stories that I have ever read. Lazar is one of the most compelling characters that I have ever read about and I think that Ms. Foley found the best woman for him in Allegra. I wish that I could find My Lazar out there somewhere. (His son Rafeal from Prince Charming is an extremely close second behind his dad) Keep up the good writing Ms. Foley because I am patiently waiting for the follow ups to The Duke, which is also a winner!!!!!!

Review: I bought this book out of pure wonder. I believe Gaelen Foley is a new author, yet her books ratings and reviews were all highly inputed that I decided to try her out myself... Upon my research, I've noticed that most of her books especially this one (The Pirate Prince) is extremely hard to find. It was out of print until recently due to popular demands. Before the reprinting, this particular book can also be found very limitedly on ebay for up to 50 bucks a piece (used paperback, mind u)... Now if that isn't enough reasons to pique your interest and to challenged you into reading it, then I dunno what would. So, I ordered and actually bought all four of her books. I must admit, that move was kindda abrupt so I just crossed my fingers and hoped I won't regret it... Well, base on the 5 stars rate i've just given here, u know now that I didn't regret that impulsive act. In fact, this book and the Ascension Trilogy are on my favorite book list nowadays. It was worth all my effort of searching, waiting and the READ. In addition to the EDITORIAL REVIEWS above: I specially admired the way Gaelen Foley created a make-believe Island of Ascension then molding it with the facts of history. It makes the read of history more interesting. I thought I'd be bored reading about Napoleon's family and his conquest, The Russians Czar's, French Revolution, Spanish Colonies and etc... but my, was I wrong. It was educational yet fun and a page turner as well. Lazar and Allegra: Wow! They were both soooo real yet sooo dreamy. I am enthralled. Their love story was a combination of everything... Mouth-gaping action twist, heart pumping sexual tension, irritating-frustrating encounters, intriguing dark secrets, heart warming love scenes, teary circumstances and RELIEF!!! Now, if these aren't your requirements for PURE ENTERTAINMENT in your books then I'd say, u are better off asleep :-) ...certainly no dull moments here. This book will capture not only your heart but your mind as well. It will also lure you to read the next book of the series. Don't wait, read the Ascension Trilogy and be 'awed' by this new Author. Amazing read! Hat's off, Ms. Foley!

Summary: Wish I Could Give It Ten Stars!
Review: THE PIRATE PRINCE is probably one of the best romances I've ever read--and I've read a LOT of 'em. This was the first book I've read by Gaelen Foley, and I plan to buy her others ASAP!! I'm in awe of this lady's talent. The hero of THE PIRATE PRINCE, Lazar di Fiore, isn't merely the deep, brooding hero you normally see in romance novels. His past is rich without overwhelming the book, and you know from the get-go that he's no brainless fool. He's a man of intelligence, wit, and deep emotion. He feels like a real person, someone you've wished to meet all your life, from the time you see him on page one until the end. If you're a fan of strong, sexy, complex heroes, this is the man for you! (Plus, the picture of him on the back of the book is to die for. Thanks to whoever came up with that!) Aside from a stunning, complex hero, the main strengths of this book were its you-don't-know-what's-going-to-happen-next plot and Ms. Foley's wonderful talent for turning a phrase. She has a knack for rolling her description and action together so you feel exactly like you've been to a place, yet without reading long, boring paragraphs of description. This is a lengthy, multi-layered read, but you won't be able to put it down. A jaded romance reader's dream find--I'd give it ten stars if I could. Brava!!!

Summary: WOW!!!
Review: this is a very good book..you got everything: characters that talk to each other and have a depth to them. you got sexual tensioin for the majority of the book and good sex scences. although, unlike some romance novels, where the main characters just into bed and the sex scenes are tepid, this book is HOT. Even without the love scenes, the book is awesome. The main character is strong, dark and deep enough in character to get your attention no matter what he is doing. The heroine is also good. Its GOOD book. The next book "Princess" is better-- to my opinion.

Review: This story successfully caused me to be speechless for several moments after finishing the last page. Not many stories can do that. Lazar di Fiori is a tortured soul. He has demons that have been chasing him for years. Because of this, he has become reckless, restless, and relentless in his search for peace. He can't come to terms with it because he refuses to face his past. Allegra Monteverdi, the daughter of his sworn enemy, forces him to face his demons and see that there is much more to living than vendettas and revenge. Lazar keeps his pain well-hidden, for where he comes from, any sign of weakness will only cause more pain and suffering. As the pages unfold, Lazar is slowly bared open to the reader, and as Allegra draws out his hidden sense of honor and justice, it is only a matter of time when his honor and his very soul will prevail over his demons. The romance in this novel will curl your toes. There is never a dull moment. Gaelen Foley weaves a grand tale and she does it well. From the deck of Lazar's ship, to the dry lands of Africa, to the sad remnants of Lazar's boy home, Gaelen Foley masterfully transported me to a time and place that made me not want to come back. My only regret is that I stumbled on her so late. However, I have two more books in this Ascension Trilogy to read and that's something for me to look forward to. My other regret is that THE PIRATE PRINCE is not easy to come by. I'm glad to see that the publisher has printed more copies. This book is remaining on my keeper shelf. Dana K. Wolcott

Summary: A dozen stars!
Review: One of the best books I have ever read. I cannot wait to read The Princess the next book in this trilogy. Lazar a pirate who is really a prince, to be king of Ascencion kidnaps Allegra, daughter of his sworn enemy, the man who destroyed his family. Allegra is a young beautiful woman with a kind heart and compassion towards Ascencion. Lazar has many hurts that must heal and she has much love to help him through them. This is one of the few stories that make you wish it could go on and on. The ending was incredible. I will never forget this story. Ms. Foley is an outstanding writer.. there was never a dull moment. (Read it on a weekend so you don't get in trouble at work when you get caught reading it because you can't put it down!)

Review: A BOOK YOU CANNOT PUT DOWN! I RECENTLY WENT ON A BIG FAMILY VACATION TO THE MOUNTAINS.WE ALL STAYED IN A BIG CABIN TOGETHER AND EACH EVENING I HAD TO LEAVE FOR MY BEDROOM TO READ THIS BOOK. I DIDN'T STAY WITH EVERYBODY TO VISIT AND NOW I'M IN TROUBLE. READ THE PIRATE PRINCE AND YOU WILL KNOW WHY I JUST DON'T CARE. A BOOK TO MAKE YOU TINGLE, I LOVED ALL THREE OF GAELEN FOLEY'S BOOKS. PLEASE WRITE MORE OF THE SAME!!!

Review: This is a truly wonderful story...and the good news is that the other two books that follow this one (Princess and Prince Charming)are even better! If you enjoy stories of men with honor loving willful women with a happy-ever after, this is for you. On par with Garwood and McNaught.

Summary: SUPER SENSUAL! DELIGHTFULLY FUN FAIRY TALE ROMANCE
Review: I decided to read this book based on the reviews and it having won best first book by an author. I read at least one to 2 romances a week and I can honestly say I have never read a book I enjoyed more than this one. Lazar the hero is sweet tortured and absolutely gorgeous. The heroine, Allegra, is strong, compassionate and delightful. I loved this book and can't wait to read Princess and Prince Charming the second and third books in the series. Gaelen Foley is now on my list of favorite authors.
