Summary: not her best but better than other's best
Review: I like Gaelen Foley. I have read the four by her with the Knight family and loved them. And, let's face it, when you like a particular author you read whatever they have. So I read Pirate Prince for that reason. I usually declare a book remarkable when I can name at least two lines and two scenes that really got me. I can't for this one but I give it a high mark because I would recommend it to others. I wish we had gotten to know Lazar as the pirate. I couldn't help feeling like the book should have started with him on the ship or in a pow wow with the other captains to let us like him a little more. I felt like I pitied Lazar before I began to like him. He was an excellent tortured hero though. Everything else was right on par for a Foley book. I literally would read anything by her. So I am of to be with Darius in Princess!

Summary: Not a great read
Review: I didn't really enjoy this book. The guy, Lazar was horrible to the girl. He pushed her away and was nasty to her. Don't get me wrong, the writer did a good job. I really felt empathy towards both of them, so when the guy hurt her feelings, I sort of felt it. The third book in this series is good, a lot better than this one.

Summary: Very romantic
Review: This was possibly one of the most romantic books I have ever read. Ms. Foley has such a passionate style of writing. Lazar was such a sweet hero and Allegra was one of my favorite heroines. This book had everything-action, touching characters, and a romance that will stay in your memory for a very long time.

Summary: 4 stars.......
Review: though this book made me mad at few moments, and kind of dragged in the middle, i thought it was a good book. the prince was wonderful, i almost fell inlove with him myself....lol. only thing i didnt like about this book was allegra ( made me laugh when i read her name, isnt that a name for a medicine?..lol), she was so weak, she was sooooo blah, i thought she should ve been more passionate. but overall, i think you'll enjoy the story. 4 stars..not five because i didnt like allegra.

Summary: Couldn't put it down!
Review: I have read all of Gaelen Foley's books and this one is one of my favorites. Ms. Foley has portrayed a man who is one of the most intense heroes that I have read about. Lazar is my idea of the 'ideal' hero. In many historical romances today the man is pushing the woman away because he is a womanizing rake. This isn't the case with Lazar. He desperatley wants Allegra's love to save him from the demons of his past that he is constantly fighting.

Not only is this a favorite of mine from Foley, but one of the best Historicals I have ever read.

Summary: Not as promising as it seems
Review: I picked up this book on a whim and I just could not make it through half of the book. I was dissappointed and now think twice before buying this author again.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A good story with some dark passages
Review: While I only give this book a middle of the road rating I really liked it enough to order the next 2 in the series. This is the story of Lazar who is the exiled prince of Ascesion due to the coup that happened many years ago he is actually the last remaining member of his family. It is also the story of Allegra who is the daughter of the president who is put in power after the coup. Lazar is bent on revenge and part of the revenge is to kill Allegra before her father. But things take a huge turn of events when he saves her from her fiance and she can't believe it that she is rescued by a pirate especially one that looks like her fantasy prince. I didn't like how he treats her in parts of the book especially assuming that she will have no problems being his mistress etc... There is also a scene with some really evil drug lords etc... But overall a pretty good book!

Summary: 4 1/2 -- a really good romance
Review: I've read all three books in this trilogy, and although Prince Charming (the last of the 3) is my favorite, this runs a close second. Lazar is a gentle, honorable man who is hiding behind the facade of brutal pirate, which was built by the horrors of his childhood experiences. Allegra is just the person to help him recover from his experience and push him enough to reclaim his kingdom. I must say that Allegra is one of my favorite heroines. She's strong and committed to her ideals.

Having several of Gaelen Foley's books, I already knew she's a terrific writer of love scenes. However, I must say that the scene in this novel in which Lazar and Allegra finally fully cosummate their love, is one of the most passionate and beautiful love scenes I've ever read in any romance novel. I reread it because it was so beautiful.

I highly recommend this one.

Summary: The ultimate tortured hero!
Review: I don't think Gaelen Foley can write a bad book! I've read all of the Knight family stories so far (The Duke, Lord of Fire and Lord of Ice) and I adore them all. So now I'm going back to the author's first trilogy about the Mediteranean island of Ascencion and the Di Fiori family.

All of Ms. Foley's heroes are tortured in some way, but I think Lazar has them all beat. What a tragic life he has led! But he's not been completely beaten down by it. His response to all his loss is vendetta, revenge. And so he returns to his island home where he was once crown prince to avenge the murder of his family 15 years ago.

The object of his revenge is Ottavio Monteverdi, who betrayed Lazar's father King Alphonse and was complicit in the murders. Lazar plans to make Monteverdi watch while he murders his only child, Allegra. Lazar kidnaps her and gets to know her a bit while they schlep across the island waiting for Lazar's men to attack. Allegra is a reformer who, in contrast to her father, dreams of the restoration of the royal family through the legend of the lost prince - that he in fact survived and still lives and will someday come back to save Ascencion. He admires her spirit and idealism, not to mention her beauty, and when the moment of truth comes, he cannot do it. He cannot take her life, but he takes her hostage.

When he tells her who he really is, she laughs. She refuses to believe that this deadly pirate is the noble prince she has dreamed about (and is naively in love with). If he were truly the prince, he would not leave his kingdom without a backward glance, would he? Gradually, she begins to believe him and badgers him about going back to Ascencion and reclaiming the throne; he just wants to forget that life and settle down on a farm or plantation and live a simple life. Sometimes Allegra pushed him too far and I hated her for it. She had no idea what she was putting him through and making him relive. But in the end it was probably theraputic for Lazar to face his demons and finally put the past to rest. He actually looks forward to returning to Ascencion and resuming his duty. But what about Allegra? You see, Lazar was betrothed to a Hapsburg princess when he was a boy and his country desperately needs her dowry. So Allegra finally gets what she wants for Lazar and Ascencion, but does that mean she is left with nothing?

Now I have to read Princess and Prince Charming about the next generation of Di Fiori royals. Hope they can follow this one!
