Rating: Summary: An Enjoyable Romantic Comedy Review: This is the first book of Lynn Kurland's I've ever read, and I was impressed with the lightheartedness and humor her characters possess. I thought the time travel theory was a little farfetched, but hey, it's supposed to be I guess. I loved the heroine, Jessica Blakely in this novel. I must admit that at first she kind of annoyed me, but by the end of the book I was wishing for more of her sharp wit and commentary. I also loved the hero, Richard. He was the perfect match for Jessica, and it was great fun to see their romance evolve into something wonderful. I like the fact that these two characters grew within the novel and changed into better people. Jessica wasn't as reliant on material things and was more self sufficient and stronger than when the book began. Richard, even more so, by becoming more open to the idea that women weren't just to fulfill the needs of men. The one thing I didn't like about this book was the villain. I tended to skip the parts when Richard's brother Hugh was taking over the chapter. They seemed like obnoxious interruptions into Jessica and Richard's story.
Rating: Summary: Jessica and Richard have won my heart! Review: This novel was my introduction to the works of Lynn Kurland and it will be forever dear to me. In this time travel story Ms. Kurland presents to the reader her heroine American composer Jessica Blakely [who travels back in time to England in the year 1260] and the hero Richard de Galtres, lord of Burwyck-on-the-Sea [who takes Jessica gruffly under his wing], two strong, admirable, intelligent and gifted yet flawed people. The qualities which mark her other works are again evident here: her ability to weave magical stories, to create truly memorable characters, her wonderful humour and excellent command of language. Not to speak of the interesting twists of plot she will provide such as for instance by addressing the abuse Richard suffered by his father. 'The more I see You' is a volume in the so-called De Piaget saga, because Richard was the foster son of Robin of Artane [see for Robin: 'Another chance to dream', 'If I had You', 'This is all I ask' and 'Stardust of Yesterday']. The development and growth of Jessica's and Richard's love is poignantly, beautifully and exquisitely described [and Ms. Kurland doesn't avoid the grittier aspects here]. There's a very charming guest part for Richard's friend Kendrick of Artane, Robin's second son [Kendrick has his own story in 'Stardust of Yesterday]. And of course poignant and sympathetic encores for several other beloved De Piagets such as for instance: Robin, Anne, Abigail and Miles. There are to be found so many memorable scenes here, but I won't spoil those for you. I for one know this: Jessica and Richard have certainly won my heart!
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite romance novels yet. Couldn't put it down. Review: This was my first Kurland novel that i've read. It had non-stop excitement, and it touched my heart. I fell in love with the characters right away. I've read alot of romance novels and this iced the cake.
Rating: Summary: I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN! Review: This was the first Lynn Kurland book I have read, and I loved it! I bought 2 more over the weekend! I completely recommend it! It makes me cry knowing that she had to go back 700 years to find her true love...Now if only it would work in real life! :-)
Rating: Summary: Fantastic romance Review: Tired of failed blind dates, romantic Jessica Blakely especially regrets accepting an all-expense paid blind date to England, because her companion is slimy. Desperate, Jessica wishes upon a star for the undying love of a chivalrous person. Her wish is granted as the 1999 composer is transported back to 1260 England where she meets a bitter Richard of Burwyck-on-the-Sea. At first, Jessica wants to go home, but soon falls in love with her host. Surprisingly, Richard reciprocates. When she is nearly killed, a distraught Richard marries his Jessica even as he cauterizes her dangerous wound. However, when the King threatens Richard's estate, Jessica, willing to do anything for her beloved, wishes to return to the twentieth century so he can marry the king's choice. Her wish is granted, but now she regrets her impetuous action and wants to return. An American in Medieval England is an entertaining time travel romance that will be enjoyed by fans of the sub-genre. The story line is fast-paced and brings to life the intrigue of the era. Jessica is a warm character, though her adjustment to he past seems too easy even if a previous traveler helps her accept it. Still, THE MORE I SEE YOU is a wonderful novel that will gain much admiration for Lynn Kurland by romance readers. Lynn Kurland is definitely a writer whose star is on the rise. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Wonderful time travel Review: While on vacation in London Jessica Blakey wishes for a fair and gallant knight, a man who loves her as much as he loves himself. Whalla! She's zapped back into 13th century England and comes face to face with Richard of Brunswick-on-the-Sea. Richard's first impression is that she is lost and wants to help her find her family, but then he mistakenly thinks that she is lost from King Henry and feels that he must take care of her and return her back to the king. Richard is curious by her strange ways and even more curious when she tells him that she is from the future, in 1999. Jessica and Richard slowly fall in love but the odds are against them, a 13th century lord and a woman from the 20th century. Could Jessica leave behind all she has known, the comforts of the modern world for true love?
