She has a way of making you fall in love with men that are not your traditional drop dead gorgeous male. She helps you look past what is on the outside and makes you fall in love with the person. This love story between Houston and Amelia is so heart stopping. The trip that brought Amelia to Texas not only drew her closer to the man she was suppose to marry but closer to falling in love with his brother. Because of the loyalty that Houston has to his brother Dallas and he doesn't think he is worthy of anyone's love, makes for a good story. You understand where Dallas is coming from in this story as well as wanting the two people who should be together be together. I hope you get the opportunity to read this book and the two that come after I fell in love with this family.

I had never read any other books by Ms. Heath, but was intrigued by the synopsis on the back cover. Once I started to read this book, I found it very difficult to put down! When I got to the end, I was quite excited to find out that Dallas`s story would be next. That day I went to 4 different book stores to buy "Texas Glory" and was more than thrilled to actually find a copy, the only copy.

Review: I have always enjoyed books where the man is scarred, physically and emotionally and falls in love with a beautiful woman he feels he will never have because of his looks. Houston meets his future sister-in-law at a train station to take her back to her betrothed, his brother Dallas. The things that happed between these two were incredible. The chemistry was outstanding. I am currently reading the next in this trilogy, Texas Glory and it too (so far) is outstanding. If you like books like this and while not exactly as this as these are Texans, you might enjoy 'Once a Princess' Johanna Lindsey, 'With this Kiss' Victoria Lynne and 'Ravished' Amanda Quick. All mentioned are about men who are scarred and the beautiful women who love them. If there are more like this out there, I don't know about them... yet. These types are my favorites.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Absolutely Wonderful! Review: I read "Texas Splendor" and "Texas Glory" before I read about Houston. I think at the time I read them, "Texas Destiny" was very hard to find and, let me tell you, I am so glad I found it. Houston's brother, Dallas, sends him to pick up his mail order bride from Fort Worth because his leg is hurt. Not in so many words, but it's understood, Dallas feels nothing can transpire between Houston and Amelia because the left side of Houston's face had been disfigured by the war, as well as the fact that he is a loner and carries so much emotional baggage because of it, he is basically uncommunicative. But we discover that it takes a special person to draw him out and we get a glimpse into his wonderful heart. We travel with Houston and Amelia on their journey, during which they form an emotional attachment to each other as well as to the reader and fall in love despite Houston's disfigurement. Lorraine Heath has a way of peeling away the layers like no one else. Since we get a glimpse into Houston's soul, his disfigurement becomes moot and he becomes more desirable in our eyes as as well as Amelia's. The part where they ride into the herd of horses in order to capture them is told so intimately that it could have been a scene where the couple made love. I'm going to have to go back and re-read "Texas Splendor" and "Texas Glory" because I don't want to leave these brothers behind yet. A few other books by other authors have made me feel that way, but Lorraine Heath is by far, on the top of the list.

Review: I'm not going to write a long description of the book---I'm just going to tell you to read Texas Destiny! I loved this book. I stayed up till 4am to finish it and then read it again over the next couple of days. It is so heartwarmning to see the special love between Houston and Amelia and the last couple of pages will make you cry. Houston so deserved Amelia's love and it was so special to see them together. Well, anyway, just read this and then I promise you you'll want to continue the series. I read Texas Glory right after Texas Destiny and now I'm just waiting for Austin's story in Texas Splendor which is supposed to arrive in the mail any day now. Lorraine Heath, if you're reading this, thanks for the Leighs.
Rating: ![0 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-0-0.gif) Summary: The seed that was planted for TEXAS DESTINY . . . Review: It was so nice to read the comments on this site. I thought you might like to know the origins of TEXAS DESTINY. While researching the treatment of gunshot wounds in 1881, I found a reference that mentioned the devastation of shrapnel wounds, particularly those inflicted to the face. The physician said that in many cases the disfigurement was so grotesque that many soldiers who survived the injury would kill themselves, and those who didn't often led lives of solitude so people would not have to look at them.
This information intrigued me. I could envision a man living alone because of his disfigurement, and I began to wonder what circumstances would force him into the company of a woman -- a woman who could see beneath the scars. Ah, a handsome man needs someone to "fetch" his bride for him. Wouldn't he send the one man he thought would have no ability to woo the woman away from him? And
who better than his disfigured ranchhand. Well, the story began to take shape and the ranchhand became the man's brother, thus fueling additional conflict within the story.
I enjoy hearing from you. You can e-mail me at LorraineHe@aol.com.
Warmest Regards,
Lorraine Heath
