Summary: Very Enjoyable
Review: A while back I wrote a rather negative review for one of T. Medeiros' other books (the first I had ever read by her). I was so disgusted with her whining, childish heroine that I swore I would not pick up another one of her books and couldn't understand what was seen in her writing. But because of the many raves about her Charming the Prince, I picked it up at the library to read it (at no risk or cost). I only have a few chapters left to read, but I wanted to say that this book was very enjoyable. I found throughout most of the book I was reading with a smile on my face. Her hero was what every woman dreams about and her heroine was smart, spunky and non-whining (a treat!). If you pass on any of her books, don't pass on this one. It was pure pleasure!

Summary: A Contemporary Romance In Medieval Costume
Review: This is the second of TM's books for me, and the story concept captured my attention while the dialog and interactions between the characters kept it. The problem of how to blend families (which is pretty much a contemporary one) was told through the eyes of another time, and - yes - it was probably historically inaccurate, but if you read for entertainment, then sometimes you have to suspend belief! The humor provided just the right counterpoint to an otherwise heavy and potentially horrible situation, and the sexual tension fed the comedy just fine for me. I had been saving this novel as a treat because I had read the excerpt posted by Amazon and had liked it so much. Buy this book if you like characters with whom you can empathize, and a happy story. Treat yourself!

Summary: Charming and then some!
Review: When I finished "Charming the Prince," I closed the cover with a sigh of satisfaction and pronounced it, "the quintessential romance." It made me laugh--often!--and it made me genuinely cry--most unusual for this jaded reader. It's in my "top 10" list of all-time great reads. I highly recommend it--not just to fans of historicals, but everyone who loves a truly charming story.

Summary: Excellent novel!
Review: I loved this book. I found it charming, witty, and romantic. Some of the jabs in other reviews regarding historical accuracy are inaccurate themselves. Parents have always cared about their children, in a medieval setting or any other. This is demonstrated through the many diaries and accounts available in books such A HISTORY OF PRIVATE LIFE and the HOLY BIBLE. People have always been people and although the times they lived in might have changed, their emotions have remained fairly constant. I think Ms. Medieros did a marvelous job capturing these emotions for the reader. Bravo!

Summary: A very pleasant read
Review: Delicious! This was my first Teresa Medeiros novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it; excellent storytelling and wit, not your average mushy romance. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Summary: charming the prince
Review: I am a huge fan of romances. This was my first book by this author, and frankly, I was disappointed. The dialogue was predictable without being funny or even sexy. I am AMAZED that this got five stars by so many readers. Its historical charm (as has been noted by several reviewers) is poor at best.

Summary: Historically Accurate?
Review: I guess I echo all the sentiments voiced below. Bannor and Willow, the lead characters, were likeable, and the children were truly charming. The "Cinderella" spin on this story allowed the "bad guys" to get their come-uppance at the end, thus vindicating Willow for years of suffering.

I am a longtime reader of historical romances, and european history in particular is a hobby of mine. The reason I didn't give this story five stars is because it was basically a contemporary story that just happened to be set in medieval times.

I don't think that Ms. Medeiros really did any research on the practices of the time. If she had, she would have found out that, in addition to many of the expressions that she used, the adult's general concern and "political correctness" about the children doesn't ring true, not in a time where offspring were basically ignored until they hit puberty.

Add to that the fact that Bannor was a sensitive, insightful man (even for the 20th century) in spite of being the consummate warrior, and the whole thing becomes somewhat difficult for the history enthusiast to swallow.

Charming the Prince is a wonderfully sweet and humorous story, but the historical inacurracies were constantly pulling me out of the story. History buffs, be warned.

Summary: It Made Me Smile
Review: A widower knight with badly behaving children, a lady with a lily-livered father, wicked stepmother and horrid step siblings are the characters that set the stage for this "charming" book. It makes you laugh, it makes you frown, seriously, you won't want to put it down! How the protagonists resolve each of their needs for a caring family and true love, nothwithstanding their stubborn natures, makes this a wonderful romance story. You'll enjoy it!

Summary: VERY FUNNY, EXCELLENT ROMANCE STORY
Review: Ms. Medieros is an exceptional writer. Charming the Prince is a very interesting twist of "Cinderella".

Summary: Charming
Review: In 1360 England, Lord Bannor the Bold returns to his home after years at war. Bot h his wives have died, leaving him with a dozen children to raise. With no mother, the children have become royal monsters. Bannor, afraid that he'll get another woman with child, sends his steward to find him an ugly wife who will be mother to his children. What he gets instead is Lady Willow, a beautiful young woman whose dreams are of a prince charming.

At first Bannor is horrified! Lady Willow would surely be too tempting for him. He ignores her and sets his children out to terrorize her. He is surprised when she joins forces with the children to make HIS life miserable. Eventually the two find a truce and find that true love always wins.

This was my first book by Teresa Mediros, and I found it to be very charming and sometimes extremely funny! Highly recommended.
