Rating: Summary: A medieval hoot. A must read! Review: This is the first Medeiros romance for me. What a great first impression. She is a wonderful storyteller.Lord Bannor, the King's warrior, finds himself trapped in a tower fearing for his life and his sanity. The enemy awaits him outside the door. To prove they have chosen the wrong man to do battle with, Bannor the Bold tells his steward, Hollis, he must find a wife to deal with these rebellious offspring! Yes... I said offspring. Instead of coming home with a frumpy, dumpy maidservant type so his Lord would not be tempted to sire any more children, Hollis brings home a Madonna type beauty named Willow. The problem is Lord Bannor is not happy having a beauty for a wife, and doesn't want to keep her. Willow, thinking she was wanted for her self, is not happy becoming an instant mother, yet refuses to go back to the family that had mistreated her. So what does this mean? War! And the children are the troops. Oh, my goodness, what a treat! When you read this passionate romance you will take to these characters. You will laugh, you will cry, you will have to react to this charming romance.
Rating: Summary: 'Charming the Prince' is charming and clever Review: Different!!! If you're looking for something charming, cute, clever, witty, and downright funny, then 'Charming the Prince' is your read!! Not my usual read, but I enjoyed 'Charming the Prince's' much different scenario.
Rating: Summary: A CHARMED READ Review: In Charming the Prince, Teresa Medeiros does a credible job of generating magical chemistry with witty repartee and buoyant humour yet again. The story tells of Lady Willow, who was handpicked by Lord Bannor's steward, Hollis as his bride to chaperon his many children. She moves in to his castle and finds Lord Bannor beguiling and most positively charming like that of a prince in her dreams. She learns through his many "children" of his stoic, resilient nature and slowly she finds herself blossoming in love for Bannor who is really more than what he may seem.... The book is saturated with incendiary chemistry between Bannor and Willow, and gives an insight on the feelings as a stepmother. Willow has lost her father without a fight with Blanche, her stepmother and has remained silent. Courageous she is - in defiance of Lord Bannor and giving a chance to love again despite her mellowed heart. But I feel her independence is undeveloped throughout the story with her subservience to Beatrix and Stefan, the children of her stepmother. Ms. Medeiros knows how to make readers feel for the passion - and it is with sweetbitter tang that Bannor decides to abandon his shadow and loves again. Through Willow as an intermediary, he learns to communicate with his children and opens up his own heart to an abiding love. With sparkling dialogue and humour, Charming the Prince is kept afloat with energy despite the typical medieval romance and happily-ever-after. This is a case of exceptional writing outshining the ordinary plot.
Rating: Summary: Clever and Charming Review: A wonderful example of why to read Teresa Medieros. I woul dhave given it 4 1/2 stars if I could. I subtracted the 1/2 because the book seems to flounder a bit. I understood the heroine had no place else to go, but there came a point when I wanted her to stand up for herself. Bannor was just a little to nonchalant towards Willow. Also, I wanted to see more of them together as a couple. They spend so much time with the children that at the end I was asking myself why they fell in love. It certainly wasn't because Banor let his children tar and feather her without saying anything. Still, it possesses the warm humor and charm that have become Medieros' trademark. Definitely worth a weekend's read.
Rating: Summary: too many children Review: While Teresa Medeiros is truly a wonderful writer, the plot of Charming the Prince was lacking. The reader's enjoyment of the book will probably depend of whether she likes children in romances because there are about 10 children in this one. As for me, the children detracted rather than added to the book. I felt as if the focus was directed at the children and their relationship with the H/H. Not nearly enough attention was given to developing the romance between H/H, which was a big disappointment for me. When Medeiros got around to it, I found the moments with Banner and Willow truly sweet. I would have loved to see more of this! It boils down to this: too many kids, not enough romance. Though Medeiros is an excellent writer, I was left unsatisfied and knowing that if the plot would have been a bit different, I could have loved this book.
Rating: Summary: Loved this! Review: Theresa Medeiros creates a captivating story of a handsome prince with ten little children to care for. He looks for an ugly duckling so he won't be tempted to make ten more. What he finds is a beautiful woman who already feels the sting of rejection. The two of them circle each other with tantalizing slowness, interspersed with alot of fun as Willow gang up on Bannor with his children. Lots of love and laughter in this romantic treasure!
Rating: Summary: WANTED: Mother for my twelve children. Must be plain. Review: Banner the Bold is a warrior who needs a mother for his twelve children; he wants no more kids, so the woman must be motherly and unattractive. Willow is neither. She can't stand the little demon spawns who try one stunt after another to drive her away. The kids got a little tiresome but otherwise this is a fine book, and once Banner and Willow accept their mutual attraction, they must try every method available to not conceive another child. Did I mention there wasn't much in the way of contraception back then?
Rating: Summary: Earning the Triple Crown Review: This book was just chosen as one of the Top Ten Favorite Books of the Year by the ROMANCE WRITERS OF AMERICA, was nominated for the Historical Love and Laughter award by ROMANTIC TIMES magazine, and received a RITA nomination for Best Short Historical of 1999.
Rating: Summary: Great book. Review: "Charming the Prince" was a very good book. It wasn't the best but it was very good. The characters were well formed and so was the plot. It made me laugh and cry and it made me angry. I felt probably just about everything I COULD feel. There were a lot of surprises (that I'm not going to tell), too, and I enjoyed that.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful, touching story... enjoyed it! Review: My first Teresa Medeiros book and it was a pleasure to read it. The story is very interesting. The scenes involving the kids are funny. Willow's forced experience and relationship with young kids due to her childhood and marriage circumstance is both humorous and sad. I really grew to love Bannor who love the kids, but had such a hard time with them. Some of the scenes fighting with his kids were great and when Willow ganged up with the kids to face him was a refreshing read. Some of the tricks the kids did to her were getting a little too cruel. I love the IDs of all of the kids' mothers. I will not give it away, but you will have to read it. If you are going to read a Teresa Medeiros book, I would recommend this one. I didn't like Heather and Velvet as much.
