Summary: Very deceptive chapter inclusion
Review: (Recently I had read Karen Robard's "Forbidden Love" and was drawn into reading another romance. Ms. Robard's novel was beautifully written and erotic, and her descriptions of the protagonists' taboo attraction towards each other was startlingly realistic...)

I have not read a Linda Howard's book before. However, based on readers' opinions and the chapter inclusion by Amazon, I had purchased this book. The inclusion by Amazon had made Ms. Howard's story sound fascinating, scintillating, and eerily mysterious. Upon my reading of the first novella within this 3-novella book, however, I was extraordinarily disappointed. The writing lacked sophistication, and the plot did not make logical sense. Even within the realm of fantasy, the characters and their perceptions were not believable and rather silly. I do not believe I will read another novel by Ms. Howard again.

Summary: Love re-releases!
Review: After having finished these stories, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed them. Considering these are short stories, I would suggest reading them in-between your more intense, suspense books for a bit of a light break. The first, "Lake of Dreams," having delved into an actual timeless love was very interesting and full of suspense. "Blue Moon" also had a bit of a twist as far as comparing it to the norm. The characters are beyond loveable. And "White Out" had to be my favorite because everyone's left guessing till the end. I would have loved it if they were all 400pgs. But they were perfect as they were. Having read the previous reviews, I just want to say that a book being a re-release should not affect the rating of a review. First of all it has nothing to do with the quality of the story. Second, if you haven't enough wit, before making a purchase, to look at the back of the book for a description to see if the story is indeed something you've already read, in no possible way should that be blamed on anyone but yourself. And third, I've always considered being able to purchase three stories in one a deal. Not having mentioned that the whole point of writing a review is to give us your opinions of the storyline, not the publishing companies! I gave this book 5 stars, because I always enjoy Linda Howard's books. And this collection does not fall short.

Summary: Read at least the first story!!!
Review: All three were very good stories, but my favorite has to be Lake of Dreams. They were soul mates from the begining. I thought it was a very beautiful love story.
The other two were alright. The rating is mostly for the first story.
Enjoy on a lazy afternoon or rainy night.

Summary: Beware
Review: As other reviewers have mentioned, the 3 stories that have been previously released. The stories are good, hence the 4-star rating. For loyal readers of Linda Howard, however, the book will come as a disapointment as they'll surely have read these stories before. While I don't mind reprints if I know that is what they are, the fact that this book was originally promoted as *new* was extremely misleading.

Review: BUYER BEWARE, THIS BOOK IS A RE-PRINT.
GOOD READING BUT OLD MATERIAL.

Summary: Romance of a dangerous slant
Review: Culled from her entries in previous romantic anthologies, Strangers In the Night retraces Ms. Howard's foray into the realm of romantic suspense. The three tales of passion reigns with romance of a dangerous slant in archetypal alpha-male protagonist.

Lake of Dreams, the first feature that tells of house-painter Thea plagued by phantasm of a lover in another time is surreal but charged with feverish chemistry. She meets the man up,close and personal with a trip to her cherished summerhouse but when passion overrules her rationale - her dreams warned of a past betrayal elicited from the man she loves.

Blue Moon, the second tale delves into the supernatural with an unexpected romance between Arkansas Sheriff Jackson Brody and a recluse Delilah Jones who is rumoured to be a sorceress. Stranded at her home when he is called upon to ward off a gun-toting trespasser, they share a stormy night of magical passion that is full of promise.

White Out, the third and best out of the three matches pulsating suspense with quicksilver desire. Lonely holiday inn operator Hope Bradshaw rescues a stranger from the devastating snowstorm in Idaho but could end up losing her life and love when she suspects him to be one of the convicts that escaped.

The hardcover edition that debuted earlier this year may not have equate the price with the quantity of reissued materials. The release of this paperback will prove a more convincing justification to grab Ms. Howard's book - fast.

Summary: Reprints are a Blessing
Review: I am a big Linda Howard fan. However, I did not discover her until 2 1/2 years ago. I have almost every one of her books, but not many of her short stories. When I saw that this was coming out, I was very happy.
I was not disappointed in these. All had Linda Howard's trademark Alpha men. The first story, Lake of Dreams, was different than I expected, but it hooked me and made me believe it could really happen.

Blue Moon, the second story, featured a sexy Sheriff. He was trying to protect her from someone and when he meets her, he is hooked. Typical Linda Howard male, but what a sexy guy. This story is what I consider the more suspenseful of the three.

White Out was my favorite of the three. What would you do if you opened your door during a snowstorm and in plops a stranger at your feet? One that you are attracted to immediately? Even though the hero spent the first part of the book unconsious, the sparks were there between them. I considered this the more sensual of the three stories. The story was HOT!

I am very glad to have had the opportunity to pick up these short stories, despite having to pay hardcover prices. The joy of reading Linda Howard is priceless.

Summary: Reprints!
Review: I collect Linda Howard books, and try to get the latest edition, but this book is a compilation of reprinted short stories that were published in the 1990s. I already have all the short stories. The publishers should note in the description the publication dates of these stories, not 2002.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Hot! Hot! Hot!
Review: I didn't really buy this book because I knew that it's just a compilation of Linda Howard's previous works. However, I'd still like to comment on the content of the three stories. I thought that they are some of Linda Howard's sexiest works ever! Highly recommended reading (and re-reading) on a cold night. Whew!

Summary: Re-release!
Review: I do not have a problem with re-releases....as long as you know that's what you are getting. Nothing makes me more angry than to buy a new book and find out I have already read it. Got me again on these. Shame on you Linda Howard. The stories are good...the one star is for the publishing scam.
