Summary: Very Good, but not her best!
Review: Lisa Kleypas is one of the best historicals writers around today, I have read all of her books so far. She releases often and writes all of them very well. Worth Any Price is very good and it was nice to catch up on the characters from Lady Sophia's Lover and Someone to Watch Over Me!
Worth Any Price was a sensual read, worth a purchase.
For first time Lisa Kleypas readers you must read Somewhere I'll Find You then Because You're Mine these go together. Another must is Where Dreams Begin" that was a beautiful book! Midnight Angel is another great one! The list is endless!

Summary: Her Best Book Yet
Review: I have read all Ms Kleypas' books and have loved all of them to varying degrees. This is one of my favorites. I was glad that she wrote a story of Nick Gentry. Ms Kleypas writes passionate love scenes and full bodied characters that have you cheering when things go right for them.

Nick is hired to find Charlotte by her finacee, the disreptuable Lord Radnor. In the beginning this is just a job to Nick. When he first sees Charlotte though he knows that he most make her his own. She draws him like a moth to a flame.

Charlotte is terrified of being found by Lord Radnor's men. She cannot stand him and will do anything to avoid marriage to the man. She is happy in her life as a companion for a dowager countess.

When Charlotte finds out who Nick is she realizes that she must make a choice. She agrees to marry Nick knowing he is the only person who can protect her from Lord Radnor.

The story evolves around the passion that ignites between the two individuals and the healing that Nick must go through to be whole. Charlotte show geniune compassion and understanding and a maturity that is often lacking in romance heroines. This is a definite must read.

Summary: Almost...
Review: What I expected. I wanted to like this book more. Nick Gentry is a complex character but I found Lottie (Charlotte Howard) lacking something important as a foil.

I suppose what made that imbalance noticeable is that I found the beginning of the book stronger than the end, which was fairly predictable given Kleypas' other novels.

There was an introduction of a character I hope to see in another novel: Lord Marcus Westcliff and hopefully he'll have a relationship with more zing to it.

Summary: A 4 1/2 star read
Review: Worth Any Price by Lisa Kleypas is the sequel to her sensual and lovely historical romance "Lady Sophia's Lover" but it easily stands alone and is just as lovely as and even more sensual than its prequel.

Charlotte (Lottie) Howard has successfully escaped an arranged marriage to a wretched man who had grand plans of controlling every aspect of her life. She's been in hiding for two years, pleasantly spending her time as a lady's companion. Though she misses her siblings, and even her grasping parents, her life in hiding is preferable to marrying evil Lord Radnor.

Nick Gentry, a Bow Street Runner, has been hired by Radnor to locate Lottie. To infiltrate society he assumes the identity of bored aristocrat "Lord Sydney" and quickly locates her. But something unexpected happens -- loner Nick is fascinated by Lottie and is reluctant to hand her over to the smarmy Radnor. Her uncommon willfulness and wild need to remain free to live a life of her own choosing draws him to her and he proposes marriage. She reluctantly agrees but the man she's just agreed to marry isn't all that he appears to be.

Nick and Lottie get along fabulously well, considering their basically strangers when married, and their life together is nearly idyllic. The only thing keeping it from being perfect is Nick's carefree attitude toward his own life and his inability to let go of (and share with Lottie) his horrific past. His brother-in-law (Ross Cannon from "Lady Sophia's Lover") does everything in his power to save Nick from himself, even forcing him to claim his title and rightful place in society as the real "Lord Sydney" but his efforts only enrage Nick. Will the love of his family and Lottie be enough to save Nick and free him from the demons that threaten to consume him?

Well, yeah, of course. This wouldn't be a romance if the hero jumped off the deep end now would it? But the getting there is what makes the book emotionally satisfying and so much better than most of the romances I've read recently. From their first meeting Lottie and Nick's relationship is filled with secret longing and barely restrained passion and once they become intimate their romance becomes an almost all-consuming thing. It's wonderful to read about two people who "fit" together so well and whose obstacle isn't silly or petty. Also helping things along is the fact that both characters are interesting people. Nick's past gives him an unpredictable edge while Lottie's past gives her the ability to understand, accept and support her tortured husband. She knows, only all too well, the fear and loathing that comes with living a life one detests. When these two come together it's magic, if you'll excuse the lame cliché. If you're in the mood for a sensitive romance (with only a smidgen of suspense thrown in) this one's a good bet.

Summary: Loved this book!
Review: This book was just so good. I read most all of Lisa Kleypas' books. I was so interested in Nick in Lady Sophia's Lover and was really glad to read his story. Lisa made him such a complicated, contradictory and likeable fellow and Charlotte was so sympathetic but no ninny either. I highly recommend this book and all of her books.

Summary: Sensual, though could use some more depth
Review: Let me start by saying I enjoyed Nick and Charlotte's story. They are well developed characters whom I really enjoyed getting to know. That said, I was disappointed in the lack of depth in the story. I would have liked to have seen smaller font size and another 100 pages of writing. This book is Nick's story, and although I appreciated his story, I felt a bit cheated at not getting a more in depth version of Charlotte's story. We know much of what happened to Nick from Lady Sophia's Lover, and nothing really new was opened in that Pandora's box. The guilt that Nick carries around, though justified, seemed a bit over done considering who he was and what he had done being on the wrong side of the law for so long.

Charlotte had an interesting story that was underdeveloped. I liked her character a lot. A no nonsense lead, strong, yet with doubts and reservations. She is very patient with Nick and exactly what he needed. I liked that she knew who he was up front and chose him anyway. I did find her decision between marrying Nick or the earl to be a bit, uhm, weak, for a better word. I think anyone in her position would have married the earl, no questions asked. (That said, I hope he gets his own story).

The sensuality rating on this book should be very high. Wonderfully written love scenes and very believably done. I can find no fault in that aspect of the story. As I said, I enjoyed reading the book, and found the characters engaging. I only wish there was a bit more plot and depth to it. I am not a fast reader by any stretch of the imagination and finished this book in 2 days. I would recommend this one, especially if you have read its predecessor and enjoyed it.

Summary: Nick was someone I could connect with
Review: This was a great book. The sex scenes were too much sometimes, but that didn't detract from the characters and their adventures. I really liked the way Kleypas wrote Nick. There were a couple of characteristics that I have only seen in this book which made it so different from the other 98% romances. I don't want to say them because of spoiling some discoveries for the new readers. But I really liked how Lisa wrote Nick and what made him so great to his brother-in-law, his wife and his mentor (I'm forgetting his name that ran the Bow street runners after his brother -in- law left.) I would recommend this book because the common man in England was realy sexy.

Summary: Not worth any price. I'm not even sure about $7.50
Review: Really, that's a lot of money for a thin, standard-formula plot, linked together with detailed descriptions of sexual activity that must surely be designed solely to provide the appropriate mind-fantasy for a woman alone at night. Alone. You know what I mean. However, many of us would like Ms. Kleypas to use her talents in stories that provide more in the way of development. In this case, Nick Gentry--introduced in other books--is said to have a dark secret that prevents him from fully loving the woman who he weds as a way to save her from the clutches of a villain and to redeem himself as well. His dark secret is not so dark, he seems to fall in love just fine, and there aren't any particularly unexpected twists on the path toward a happy ending. Maybe I'm one of those who have read all there is, with every possible plot, so nothing tempts. But, I still think Ms. Kleypas could come closer than her recent efforts indicate. The concept sounded inviting and I wouldn't mind buying the book used. But for $7.50, it wasn't "worth the price."

Summary: Wow!
Review: I have never before read any type of romance novel, espcially one that could be bought in the drugstore. Yet when I purchased this book as joke for my friend I decided to read it. Wow! it was great, I couldn't put it down. I just fell in love with Lottie and Nick. Ms. Kleypas has given these characters realistic trais, and realistic obstacles. I literally read this book in two days, but considering half of those two days were spent in class I would call it one day. Though some may say this is just glorified porn, I say that it is an instesly passionate book. Bravo Ms. Kleypas!

Summary: One of the Best
Review: Someone rated this as mediocre. If this is mediocre I'd like to know what is great! This is a book I could not put down. It was a wonderful story with two people who are worth your attention. The writing, the plot, the sex...all excellent. Nick Gentry is a prize and Charlotte Howard is one woman who is worthy of him. I thought it was great.
