Rating: Summary: Best in the Night series!! Review: A long time ago I read this book - while I liked it - it did not leave the impression that the second reading did having just finished Night Fire & Shadow. Alec certainly did not stand out in the other books - and you really were not totally sure how much he was in love with his first wife Nesta. You certainly did realize that his grief and guilt when she died giving birth to their daughter Hallie - and he was committed to never marrying again. Of course don't these rakes all say that - until they meet THE one woman that upsets their well ordered life. And this is exactly what happens when he meets Genny. Their initial meeting is totally unique - her disguised (not very well in his opinion) as a young man Eugene. She/he is attempting to run her father's shipping yard and Alec arrives from London to buy from her family. There is one catch though her father will only sell if Alec agrees to marry her as well. So many many twists and turns to this relationship. They are a firey couple as Genny is so different than any woman Alec has ever met. She is so stubborn about not being dominated by a man - has no desire to wed - but oh did I say desire --well she has plenty of that and when she and Alec finally errupt in bed well that pretty much settles at least that aspect of their relationship. However there are so many other things to settle - and for awhile when Alec has amnesia Genny is not sure which Alec is real and which is not. Several reviewers did mention Alec as a jerk - I just did not see this. Yes, he wanted to dominate as most men back then did and yes it took him a long while to realize the intensity of his feelings for Genny but he did - and I never saw any example of total cruelty toward her - he was always faithful and no matter how much they faught they always seemed to kiss and make up - so to speak!! This was a wild ride of a book - could not put it down! Really a great Coulter read!
Rating: Summary: How can you people be so blind??? Review: Alec was not a barbaric ***hole in this book like everyone is saying!! He was like all the men back then who spoke their mind and thought that women had their places and men had theirs, and the two should never cross. If books like these bother some women, then quit reading historical romances!! It's as simple as that. Stick to your contemporaries and weak willed men, and I'll stick to reading about real men.
Rating: Summary: Worth the trip.... Review: Any time I read a book and it can bring forth an emotion, it's got to be well written. Catherine Coulter's book always have that effect on me. And this one is no exception. I hate books that are predictable. Yes they all have happy endings, but it's the journey that makes it worth the time to read. And a trip with Ms. Coulter is always interesting. Hearts and flowers are great once in a while. But a steady diet is very boring. Give me a struggle, a knock down drag out fight, a handsome rogue with a heart, and a heroine who doesn't always look like Cindy Crawford and I'm in heaven. If you want everything sugar coated try Mary Poppins. But if you want to laugh, cry or just get ticked off... Give Ms. Coulter a try.
Rating: Summary: Uck! Review: Genny and Alec meet in America and from that point on it goes downhill. This book was immediately put in the trash. I kept reading it hoping it would get better, it didn't, it got worse. Alec was a barbarian and needed taken down a notch or two. He wasn't even worthy of Nesta, let alone Genny. There was no real closure to their problems and Alec's cruel heart, either. How could you believe he loved her? Genny needs to hit him on the head again.
Rating: Summary: Loved the book Review: I enjoyed this book very much. In fact I have read all the books in the "Night series" Night Shadow, Night Storm and Night Fire and enjoyed each one.
Rating: Summary: A sad book. Review: I liked the first half of this book, but towards the end things started to go terribly wrong. I began to feel terribly sorry for Genny, and even though I knew things were out of Alec's hands, his behavior to the end seemed inexcusable. Horribly mean. Didn't like it at all.
Rating: Summary: i would perfer no star at all if possible! Review: this can be truly the most horrible book by ms. coulter. she's my favortie author, and she still is after this book. she put genny through so many humiliating moments! it'z really embarrassing for her! and alec is so arrogant and such a jerk! ms. coulter gave alec too much control over genny and this is the worst book i've ever read!
Rating: Summary: First Book Review: this is the first book that i have read by Catherine Coulter. i could not put it down. i am know an instant fan of Catherine Coulter. if you can get your hands on this books i hope you do.

Rating: Summary: I HATE mean heroes! Review: Why do authors persist in writing about heroes no hot blooded woman would give the time of day? I was totally disappointed in this book...and have come to the conclusion that Coulter's historicals are a risky buy. I mean, 75% of the time I am disappointed! I am going to stick to her contemporaries...where I at least know the heroine will not allow herself to be treated that way. Sheesh! This book was horrible!
