Summary: Laughed so hard I cried!!!
Review: Men in Kilts was FANTASTIC! I started reading it at the bookstore, and I stayed for an hour just standing there reading it like an idiot! Once I snapped out of my daze, I dashed home and finished it that day! I laughed so hard I cried! Her books are so charming and refreshing, and a great addition to any library.

I read so much that I can't believe it took me so long to find Kaie MacAlister! She is a genius at writing in first person, which is difficult to do. Her characters are very real, and I felt a connection with them.

Her other books Improper English, Noble Destiny and Nobel Intentions are all wonderful! I can't wait until her next book comes out!

Summary: Be Prepared To Laugh!!!!
Review: Ms. MacAlister has without a doubt the greatest sense of humor! She grabs you with her quirky way of looking at life and love from the very first page and maintains the momentum until the end. I have never laughed so much through out a book as much as I did at this one. Since I have been a displaced Yank in England (I lived there for three years) I not only understood the British/Scottish slang but I understood how Kathie felt during her "love at first sight with yummy scotsman" situations!

I must admit to being frustrated with Kathie a few times but these time were easy to overlook when you consider the other aspects of the story. If you love romance, and laughter you can't go wrong with this story. Ms. MacAlister is a very talented author and I highly enjoyed steping into her world if for only a short time!

Summary: My daughter thinks I'm crazy
Review: My 9 month old is going to grow up thinking her mother is insane if I keep reading Katie MacAlister's books, but what a way to go! I could not stop giggling through most of Men in Kilts! I can totally understand Kathie's facination with "dishy scott's"; who doesn't love a man in a kilt? I found Katie's book highly origonal, engrossing, and hillarious. I think most of the other review's here sum up the story line well enough that I won't take the time to do it, but I had to throw my two cents in and recomend this book to everyone who loves a funny romance. You won't be disapointed! This book goes on my keeper shelf!

Summary: Yummy!
Review: Ok I loved this book, plain and simple. Katie did a wonderful job of bringing to life my greatest fantasy, of meeting a Scotsman and falling in love and living in Scotland. Actually I have to change that a bit, its more like "of meeting a Kilted Scotsman, who is a big hunk and has a brogue that can bring a woman to her knees. The rest is pretty much the same. I wonder if Katie was reading my mine when she thought of this, hummmmmmm.

Well On to the book. Its packed with incredible humor. It had me laughing so hard I was freaking out my cats. The love scenes were so hot and so well written the pages almost ignited. The characters of Iain and Kathie so compelling that you were rooting for them the whole way. I loved the fact that they weren't extremely young and innocent. I like to see heroines closer to my own age. Plus it proves that sex ain't just for the young! The supporting characters were real and truely added to the book.

This is going to go on my keeper shelf. I know that I will read and reread this book until it falls apart and I have to buy it again. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Summary: 37 Year Old with a Complex
Review: Okay, this is the first book by Macalister and it is not a good impression. I have no idea how she could write such a flimsy character that acts half her age. I don't know how that works with everyone else but this book only made me laugh of the idiocities that the main female lead makes. I got to the hundredth page and good I groaned with pain.

Iain truly is a great hero which deserves a good woman by his side. He is serious, sexy and with a speech that makes you sigh. I liked his sons, even the rude one with the slut comment because they add toward the plot but Bridget is a true b****. I can not figure out how Kathie took so many insults without a resounding slap or coffee burn. She is the woman that none of us want to be.

If you paint a character in these times as a 19 year old, don't make her a heroine of a book that truly could have been something good. Katie, I am going to try the other books, but after trying this one the future just looks bleak. Women who act like that in real life deserve to be treated and think like the ninny they are.

Summary: I don't get it
Review: Sorry folks but I just don't get it why everyone loves this author! She seems to like whiney, clingy, self-centered woman who don't act their age and who no self-respecting "alpha male" (her term) I know woud be interested in. Geesh!

Despite my negative experience with the Corset Diaries, I still read this book, mainly because I had already bought it. I read about half the book and was about to toss it when admittely it got a bit more interesting (or perhaps less irritating?). Like Corset, the character development was almost non-existant. But I gave it a second star - one more than Corset Diaries because I made it to the end of the book.

Both will be on the table at the garage sale this summer!

Summary: Not nearly as good as I expected
Review: This has the same issues I had with her first one - the man is great, the female protagonist is whiny, unlikeable and doesn't seem to have a life outside living for and on Iain. The first book was funny - this started out that way but at the end it was a chore to read. Try Jennifer Crusie or Jane Heller for more laughs or Carly Phillips or Rachle Gibson for strong heroines.

Summary: My all time favortie!
Review: This is my favorite book of all time. The characters are fun and much more realistic than most romance characters and it is laugh-out-loud funny as most of Katie's books are. Anyone who likes animals and Scotland will love this novel!

Summary: Glad to see it's finally in print
Review: This story was tried out on a few unsuspecting members of www.opendiary.com, when the author pretended to be telling her real story.

We loved it, and even though we half-suspected it was a plot being tried out, we pretended right along with her and hoped it was real.

Her irreverent attitude and her taciturn and wonderful husband (then named Alistair) captivated us all.

She's an inventive soul who knows how to suck you into her world.

Love you, Katie!

Summary: I Want a Scottish Man Too!
Review: This was the first time I had read this author and this book was quite enjoyable. The story is basically about the romance between an American writer and a Scottish sheep farmer. The romance was very 'adult' in comparison to the countless other fluffy romances on the market, and the writing was very witty overall. I found myself laughing at loud several times, and I really enjoyed the description of the characters and the place itself (the Scottish Highlands is where it's set). I think the thoughtful descriptions of Scotland and the lifestyle of the main character (Ian) made the book really come to life for me. While there isn't a major plot here - just following the developing relationship of the characters - there was a lot of great interaction between the families. The family dynamics and adjustment of the two characters made for some very fun moments and I think the author did a great job of making her hero/heroine very realistic and easy to identify with. The only drawback was with some of the e-mail correspondence that was splattered throughout the book. Supposedly the main character, Kathie, has a best friend, Cait, that she corresponds with through e-mail. The e-mails didn't add anything to the story and in fact, detracted from it in some cases. This book will definitely have you contemplating a trip to Scotland and hoping for a Scotsman yourself! Overall, it's a definite thumbs up and highly recommended!
