Rating: Summary: A magical fabulous mystery love story Review: #1. The name of this book should be "The Stones of Fionnaway". If I had not read all of Christina Dodd's other books I would not have been encouraged to buy this one from the title and information on the back. I have read this book 3 times and told the entire story to my manicurist and my neice. It is the story of the "Stones of Fionnaway" and the pact between the selkies and the McCleods to forever ensure the continuance of both. Along the way is the marvelous love story of Ian Fairchild, the half selkie, born with a little magic, and Alanna McCleod, who must give her all to see that the pact between the selkies and the mcCleods continue. The way they get together and the ending made me cry and cry I did everytime I read it. I loved it. Christina choose your own titles from now on!!!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful read that I'll pick up again and again! Review: A terrific book that combines Ms. Dodd's fabulous heros and hot sex with an amazing legend. This is one of those books I read in an afternoon when I'd promised myself I was only going to read a couple of chapters. She is one author I never miss. I've given dozens of copies to friends and they agree that it's a wonderful story.
Rating: Summary: Glad I gave this book a go!! Review: After reading "A Well Pleasured Lady". It was difficult for me to pick up "A Well Favoured Gentleman" (as you can read from my review, I didn't enjoy the former much). Fortunately, I did pick up Ian's story and I am so glad I did! I was extremely interested in Ian's character in part 1 but when I read part 2, I fell in love with him straight away. The turmoil and confusion in his mind, not to mention the bitterness/hate he was subjected to since young, was well presented and written in such a way that the reader could easily empathize yet through all that, you could feel the determination, strength and the beauty of his character. Ian has magic in him, something he did not choose to own and it created in him a mysterious, shining aura (anyone who has read this: excuse that hint of a pun). Alanna, in contrast, needed to give the illusion that she knew magic (to the townsfolk). She, unlike Ian, knew and understood love since young and wanted to love. Her courage, honesty and sense rendered a striking woman that was exactly the remedy that Ian needed, but the most important attribute was her loyalty to Ian. It was this that completed their love and even though it seemed at first that she was an unremarkable lady with a talent for healing and disguise, as the tale unfolds, she transforms (another hint of a pun) into the most beautiful, lovable heroine. This story is quite long, packed with a lot of information but as the reader, you will enjoy every piece of information given and when you finish, you will realize the mastery in the plot. Betrayal, hatred, confusion, bitterness, friendship, loyalty, mystery, happiness, sadness, love and sacrfice were all in this magnificent story. Many different kinds of emotions were evoked in me as I read this book. There was just the right amount of twists and the side-characters were rendered enough to support the hero and heroine, to fill in the gaps of the story. This book is definitely a keeper for me, it is now sitting right next to my Suzanne Enoch and Julia Quinn collection!

Rating: Summary: disgusted Review: After reading "A Well Pleasured Lady," I was skeptical of reading the follow up, "A Well Favored Gentleman." In the first book, Ian, the hero, was not that great of a character. However, he redeems himself nicely in this book, as does Dodd herself. Lady Alanna has been missing for four years. Her guardian, Leslie Fairchild, forced her to hide among her own people so she could escape his plans to marry her. On the eve of her 21st birthday, Lady Alanna returns to claim her home and heritage. Ian Fairchild, the son of the guardian Leslie, is looking for a home. He has grown a lot in the seven years since we last saw him in a "Well Pleasured Lady." He still feels the sting of being born on the "other side of the blankets" from his father. Little does Ian know that in finding Lady Alanna and her heritage, he also finds his own. Ian and Alanna's story is filled with humor and passion. It is very obvious that Ian does not understand that he loves Alanna, and Alanna learns to accept that she needs Ian in her life. The struggle between the two is fun to read. I would definitely recommend this book to others, but still skip the previous book, "A Well Pleasured Lady." You do not need to read that book to understand this one.

Rating: Summary: One of Dodd's Best Review: Beautiful, seductive Ian Fairchild is a man with fey powers and ancient secrets of the Isles. He desperately wants Fionnaway Manor- the estate that should be his, but his father has decreed he must Marry in order to claim his birthright. Alanna is the woman he must marry. She is drawn to his beauty, but mistrusts his reasons for wanting to marry her, knowing he grains the estate through their marriage. Even so, he cannot resist his fey beauty and falls in love with him. However, there are others who wish the marriage to find doom, and as Alanna is drawn deeper into Ian's love, she finds he is not quite human. A wonderful tale of Scottish lore, delivered by a deft hand.
