Summary: Disappointing
Review: I've been a huge Lindsey fan over the years (she is the ONLY romance novelist I read). But generally her books have been getting tamer (in the romance dept) and this book was particularly slow. It was just very hard to care. The plot seemed so contrived. The extreme violence perpetrated against a child really soured the whole book, it was hard to get past. Assuming she is still writing her own books, I sincerely hope that Johanna will get back to per previous style...

Summary: A Disappointing Read
Review: I am a huge Johanna Lindsey fan, having read every book she's ever written and re-read most of them countless times. I loved Lachlan and Kimberly's story, "Love Me Forever", and was eagerly awaiting reading about their daughter Melissa.

I was disappointed, as "The Pursuit" lacks the chemistry and passion that were once so common in Ms. Lindsey's writing. As with her last few novels, the plot line is weak and the characters don't seem to fully develop.

Melissa and Lincoln meet early in the book, and manage to fall in love in one short conversation. The fued that exists between Lincoln and Melissa's uncles, the MacPhersons, is childish to say the least and very much unbelievable. While the antics of the MacPherson uncles are somewhat amusing, there is more interaction between the uncles and Lincoln and the uncles and Melissa than there is between Lincoln and Melissa.

Writing a novel with unforgetable characters in not the easiest task, yet so many of Ms. Lindsey's previous novels do just that. I felt that "The Pursuit" just didn't have that Lindsey 'magic' that so many of her fans have come to enjoy most about her books.

Summary: Sequel to Man of my Dreams and Love Me Forever
Review: First, of all I love Johanna Lindsey. I have all of her books in
hardback. Second of all, this is the lowest rating I have ever given. This story is the third story after "Man of my Dreams" and "Love me Forever." I truly enjoyed the previous two and was all set to enjoy this one, but I simply could not get into it. There was just not enough interaction between Melissa and Lincoln. All the attention seemed to be focused on the brothers/uncles (who by the way I got tired of immediately

after their introduction.) I was so frustrated by the story that I would just jump ahead whenever the brothers/uncles appeared. Then I just stopped reading it completely. Lindsey is one of my favorite authors and I will definitely get her next book in hardback. I just couldn't get through this one.

Summary: Ms. Lindsey delivers the humor and fun she's known for...
Review: Lincoln Ross Burnett is returning to Scotland for the first time in 19 years, to visit the home where he'd been born, and forced to leave at the age of 12. After his father passed away in a terrible accident, his continuous fighting with a neighboring family of 16 boys helped along his mother's decision that she could not control him any longer. He'd been sent to live with an aunt and uncle, who later gave him their name so that he could become their legal heir, and inherit the title. He's made the decision to find himself a wife, and begin a new life this year, so this visit his boyhood home is to help him settle feelings of resentment he harbors toward his mother. Little does he know it will also be a trip that seals his fate...

Melissa MacGregor, the daughter of Kimberly and Lachlan MacGregor from Love Me Forever, is all set to have a grand adventure in London, where she'll have her come out, and she's sure she'll meet the most wonderful future husband, who will no doubt not be intimidated by her 16 uncles, and her father. She's sure that if she can only get away from her family, she'll find the man of her dreams.

While taking her young cousins swimming in a swimming hole on her uncle's land, Melissa encounters the most wonderful stranger, who intrigues her to no end. Lincoln feels the same way, is instantly attracted to what he assumes is a country miss, and sets off to find her father and offer for her hand. When he finally encounters Lachlan, it is to be told that Melissa has already left for London, and that he has Lachlan's blessing to court her there. What follows is a courtship that is fraught with misunderstandings, and a hilarious lack of communications, some caused by the 16 uncles who turn out to be the same 16 Lincoln had fought as a youth, and some by the fact that Melissa is being sponsored by no less than Megan and Devlin St. James, the Duke and Duchess of Wrothston (Man of My Dreams) who just happen to be out of Lincoln's social realm.

Ms. Lindsey absolutely delivers with her witty humor, and we feel like we're sucked right into the scenes. Her characters are so real to life you expect them to jump off the page and start chatting with you. The one thing that did disappoint me is that there wasn't a lot of friction or interaction between the hero and heroine. The story focus's so much on Lincoln's run in with the uncles as a youth that it almost takes over. If you're a Johanna Lindsey fan, no doubt you'll miss the spark and sizzle that always exists between her hero's and heroine's, but you'll still find this a delightful read.
And unfortunately, no, this is not a Mallory story, as many readers believe.
Happy reading!

Summary: Very Disappointed!
Review: This was, by far, not the typical Lindsey romance novel. It was long, drawn out, and I kept waiting for something GOOD and really didn't find it. This, along with her novels about space aliens, has lead me to re-think Lindsey's new writing path.

Summary: Nice story
Review: This one was not what I expected from Lindsey. Generally the stories are just better. Both stories which preceded this one was just better. I was disappointed with this one.

Summary: The Pursuit
Review: I use to love Johanna Lindsey's books, but her most recent ones are just tripe! This one is no different. It seems like she is just trying to get books out quickly to make money. Her characters in this book are dull and lifeless. I didn't root for Melissa and Lincoln to get together because I didn't care! Then there is the whole idea that Lincoln could be dangerous because of something stupid he did at age 10! Come on and get some new material that is worthwhile! I don't think I will buy another Lindsey book again.

Summary: A LITTLE SLOWWWW .......
Review: I wish Johanna Lindsey would go back to her old style of writing. Her newer books don't have the tension and drama as say, 'Prisoner Of My Desire' and even her older regency stories. Those books were humorous and had alot of drama. The Pursuit really drags and it rehashes the same problem over and over again and repeats the same dialogue with a different person saying it. A very light read for a boring afternoon.

Summary: Breaks Tradition
Review: When I picked up this novel, I was so excited to that Johanna had written a sequel to one of my favorite books, Love Me Forever starring the unforgettable Lachlan McGregor. That's where the excitement ended. Melissa McGregor, Lachlan's daughter had the potential to have her own memorable love story, yet Ms. Lindsey failed to due her justice. The love-struck swain is forgettable and the actual love story takes up very little of the novel. There isn't that much interaction between the two main characters. Most of the novel revolves around Lincoln's distrust and angst regarding his relationship with his mother. Bitterly disappointed in this effort for which I had such high hopes. Home for the Holidays, Johanna's last historical release, was much better than this feeble effort. If you must read this book, I suggest waiting for the paperback.

Summary: This is the silliest book that I've ever read
Review: I have read all of Lindsey's books but her most recent plots have become less and less believeable. I kept asking the question why Lincoln wanted to marry into a family of idiots? Secondly, how could anyone judge a person on an act committed at the age of 10? Also, when her father heard the reason for her uncles' objection to the marriage, why wasn't he objective enough to dismiss the a 20 year old incident that occurred between children? Finally Lincoln's mother's rationale for ignoring her son for all those years was absurd.

I give up. This is my last Lindsey unless someone gives one to me.
