Summary: GREAT BOOK!!!
Review: I have never written a review before, but this book just demanded a response. I have been reading romance novels for 25 years and this is very close to if not the best book I have ever read. It is funny and sexy!! The characters are hilarious and believable! I recommend you get this one for sure and I am on a hunt for all and anything else I can find by this author. Enjoy!

Summary: Utterly brilliant!!
Review: I just went through 5 Pamela Britton because the reviews here sold me on it. Boy did I get burned. Sorry, I wasted the money. I also bought this on the same day from the recommends and I so SO GLAD to say they are right on target.

This books is so funny. Noble is so arrogant, so controlling (Miss Britton needs to read this book to see how to do a Alpha male/Gamma male DONE RIGHT). But Noble suddenly comes up against an immovable force his new wife.

It's a RIOT of laughs as Ms. MacAlister eschews the stereotypical heroine, and goes for a klutzy, endearing lady that make you smile, makes you laugh.

So original. Everything that I found lacking in Britton's books, I found SO PERFECTLY DONE here.

Off to buy more of this wonderful author!!

Summary: Not Your Average Regency Romance
Review: I love Katie Macalister's humor. Whether she's writing contemporaries or historicals you can bet they won't feature faint hearted simpering heroines and empty headed alpha males. Oh to be sure she's got the alpha males, but they aren't one dimensional and they all seem to appreciate the complex women they fall in love with.

In Noble Intentions, Noble Britton is looking for the opposite of his first wife, a sweet biddable woman who will have his heirs and stay in the country while he cats around the capitol. But when he meets Gillian Leigh, a woman who simply blurts out whatever she's thinking, a woman who is accident prone and at 25, considered off the shelf all of those wishes go out the window because Gillian doesn't care that her husband wants her in the country.

What follows is hilarious. As always, her characters are wonderfully quirky and interesting. The triplet Tremayne brothers who are constantly brawling, the pirate butler with the hook, Gillian's cousin Charlotte, the union of mistresses - all serve to remove this book from the usual circle of regency romances and make it stand apart.

Gillian, though accident prone and lacking in an ability to obey her husband blindly (a good quality), is a great heroine. She's no blushing virgin and she's a match for Noble, who despite his arrogance, is human and his appreciation for Gillian never wavers.

This book is absent the misunderstandings that cause estrangement that are so often typical in these books. A moderately interesting mystery surrounding the murder of Noble's first wife threads the love story together.

If you like to laugh and you enjoy female characters who are real women who are strong, I think Noble Intentions is a book for you.

Summary: What fun! A great new author!
Review: I LOVED this book and can hardly wait for my mother to read it so we can talk about it. This was my first book by Katie Macalister but it won't be my last. I've already ordered her other books. It's such a wonderful feeling to 'discover' a new author and have such a great experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed the original characters and the uproarious humor. I laughed until I cried and my sides hurt. The secondary characters were essential to the story and their great eccentricities peopled the book with outrageous life and hilarity.

I hope to read more of this wonderful author for years to come.

Summary: I was up all night reading this book!!! So good!!
Review: I loved this book! I stayed up until 3 am on a weekday to finish it! It has been a very long time since I have read anything so funny. The romance was most definately there but the part of loved the most was the laugh out loud humor that went all the way through this book, from the first chapter right until the end! About 2 am my husband woke up because I was laughing so hard!! I recommend this book to all historical romance lovers. I've already ordered the second book from this series!!!

Summary: Noble Intentions
Review: I really enjoyed the characters of this book. Gillian is refreshing and funny. She and Noble are a wonderful match. Some of the things Gillian gets herself into are most unbelievable, but so hilarious for a romance/mystery.

Summary: Failed to capture me...
Review: I was in the mood for a historical romance and picked up Noble Intentions because I have enjoyed Katie MacAlister's novels. The story of Earl of Wessex Noble Britton and his search for the perfect doormat failed to capture me. Noble had endured a horrible marriage that ended in tragedy. All he wants now is a docile wife and suitable mother for his son. Gillian Leigh -- a tall, outspoken, spontaneous, somewhat accident-prone half-American -- is the perfect candidate. Noble discovers that Gillian is not a doormat by a long shot in a series of accidents he suffers due to Gillian's clumsy nature. And he had not anticipated the fact that she might just be his one true love. There are various fun moments throughout the novel.

I read romance novels because I expect the characters to capture me and take me to romantic heights. I prefer a historical romantica (erotic romance) over a regular romance with almost no sex, but an intense romance would have sufficed. Despite some fun scenes and witty dialogue, Noble Intentions does not capture me the way I had wanted it to. I realize that MacAlister writes comic novels, but she sometimes tries too hard to be funny. Gillian is a twit and she annoyed me at times. Noble was also irritating, but I was able to understand where he was coming from when he explained what had happened with his former wife. I suppose that the biggest letdown for me was that the author concentrated more on banters and quips than on the romance aspect of the book. The novel is not bad per se, which is why I give three stars -- it simply failed to give me what I wanted. Read this if you are in the bargain for a regency romance that centers on comedy. Skip it if you want a historical romance that is intense and riveting.

Summary: Skip It
Review: It may or may not be fair to write a review having read only the first half of this book, but...I couldn't get through the last half of the book no matter how hard I tried. I wanted to like this story, especially because Macalister has written such funny books as "Improper English" and "Men in Kilts." However, this more historical romance falls very flat. The characters barely know each other and we are barely given time to know them. Their motivations are not very clear as to why they like one another and eventually marry, and the female is the typical naïve virgin. I found the book lacking in character development for sure, and in plot as well. It read like a teen book and not the adult novel it was supposed to be. Reading the first half was a bit like having a tooth extracted without a painkiller - excruciating. I will still look for Macalister books, but the more modern ones.

Summary: What an utter, charming delight!!
Review: Katie MacAlister joined my writers' community at MSN recently, so naturally I dashed off to buy her books since I had not read anything by her. I have been lucky at getting so many really talented writers that I love joining, so I am thrilled to say there is another!!!

This Victorian charmer is funny, heartwarming. I found myself with a big smile on my face nearly all the way through this!!!Her voice is sparkling, perfect for the period!!

25 year old, half-American Gillian Leigh is in London to attend her cousin's coming out season in the ton. She is quite delighted to be a wallflower - provided she could stop doing clutzy things like setting the Dutchess' favourite gold curtains on fire!! She does not waltz - she murders toes!!! She is outspoken, has dogs with a 'problem' that has everyone fanning the air!! She is a quick judge of character and is not afraid to blister her aunt for going along with the ton in giving the cut direct to the Earl of Wessex.

The Earl is in town for the first time in 5 years, following the death/murder??? of his beautiful wife, supposedly at his hands when he found her in the arms of her lover. He wants a wife to produce an heir, a mother for his illegitimate son, but most of all he wants a wife that will cause no problems, no gossip.

Gillian's cousin quickly sets sites on the dark earl knowing reformed rakes make the best husbands, but she sees the earl has eyes for her tall, amazon, redheaded cousin. He is drawn by her open honesty, and despite the smashed toes, black eye, bashed head and broken nose, he thinks Gillian is just what he needs. He will make her a countess, giving her everything - but his heart. However, Gillian is not about to settle for anything less and will wage a war of attrition to get it!!!!

A delightful, wonderfully writen read! Hope to hear more from Katie MacAlister!!
