Rating: Summary: Unlikeable heroine Review: A Dangerous Love was not an enjoyable read for me. I won't go into the plot, as I'm sure others have already done so. However, I must say I've discovered I'm not a fan of light historicals (Sabrina Quinn writes more in the style of Julia Quinn and Karen Hawkins). In addition, the heroine played havoc with my nerves. She argued with the hero all through the book to the point where I just wished someone would rescue him from her. Was she meant to be like Kate from The Taming of the Shrew, as she is a Shakespeare quoting heroine? If you like lighter, more humourous historical romance, The Pirate Lord by the same author was a much better read.
Rating: Summary: Delightful and Different Review: A Dangerous Love, the first in the Swanlea Spinsters Series, is about the middle sister Rosalind and Griff Knighton. Griff comes to Swan Lake posing as his man of affairs to find something of great importance to him that Rosalind's father has. (His man of affairs is posing as Griff as well. They switched identities.) While he is searching he comes face to face with a sword, and weilding the weapon is Rosalind, and the attraction starts. The verbal sparring between Griff and Rosalind was just hillarious and filled with sexual innuendos which make both the characters funny and extremely sexy at the same time. However, I encountered the rather vulgar word c**k with alarming frequency in this book. I didn't mind the bawdy humor and language, but there has got to be a better word to use than that when discribing male anatomy. Anyway, back to the story. As the attraction between Griff and Rosalind increases, so does Griff's determination to find proof of the secret Rosalind's father has kept for so many years. What will Rosalind do when she finds out Griff's real identity and why he has come to Swan Lake? Reading Griff and Rosalind's story has been ag reat pleasure, and I look forward to the other two books in the series, about Rosalind's sisters Helena and Juliet (Note: All three were named after characters in plays by Shakespierre. Rosalind-As You Like It, Helena-A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Juliet-well you should know Juliet unless you've been in hybernation for a few centuries.) I recommend this book highly and wish you happy reading.
Rating: Summary: A Delightful Page Turner. Grade: B+ Review: Absolutely a delightful little book filled with lust, desire, humor and clever wit. A DANGEROUS LOVE is book one in Sabrina Jeffries' SWANLEA SPINSTERS series.
Griff Knighton is a wealthy businessman, powerful and passionless. Rosalind Laverick is a voluptuous, vivacious country lass and the second daughter of the Earl of Swanlea -- the man who ruined Griff Knighton's father. Griff is extremely entertained when he receives a summons to the Swanlea estate. The old earl is offering one of his daughters to Griff as a potential mate! Griff is delighted with the old earl's proposition. He accepts the invitation, but he accepts with ulterior motives -- vengeance.
Rosalind is not happy with her father's plans! Her first encounter with the notorious Griff only confirms her anxiety. She just knows Griff is a ruthless scoundrel and his hostile behavior speaks for itself.
However, this is a romance novel and temptations abound. Rosalind and Griff have no idea what to do with their mutual attraction. They hide their amorous feelings by engaging in clever repartee and oh how artfully these two adversaries spar. Their outrageous banter is witty and fun - I never suspected William Shakespeare could be quoted so effectively!
This was a good book. It could have been a splendid book, but Jeffries resorted to repetitive discussions toward Griff's ambitions. These drawn out discussions caused dreariness to rear its ugly head. Although this repetitive weakness lasted only through a few chapters, it still clogged the reading journey. Still Jeffries manages to produce a good book and I look forward to sister Helena's story with much anticipation. Daniel, Griff's man of affairs, is masculine, rugged, and rough around the edges and Lady Helena is dreadfully attracted. Book two, book two where . . . art thou?

Rating: Summary: Wonderfully Sexy Love Story Review: Griff Knighton has fought the sting of his alleged bastardy all his life and has been sent a proposition from the Earl of Swanlea. Marry one of his three daughters and he will provide the proof of Griff's parents marriage. Setting up an elaborate scheme with his man of affairs, he would switch places with him and they would travel to Swanlea so that he can search the estate for the certificate without having to be bothered to court and flatter the three spinster sisters. Now we have the heroine - a bit long in the tooth - known to be one of the three Swanlea Spinsters - Rosalind to be exact - the middle sister - but with a vast difference for most heroines - she is not this tiny, petite, svelte, wisp of a girl! What Rosalind is is an opinionated, tall, sturdy, voluptuous Amazon - you've got to love this! She senses, that all is not right with this `man of affairs' and decides to stick to him like glue after she caught him rifling through her father's desk at night. Now the fun begins! Between the double entendres, and the insults the fact remains that Rosalind has this amazing attraction for Griff that he finds extremely hard to control. First of all, he can't seem to control his nether regions when around Rosalind so he feels he must shock her with his risqué allusions to some of Shakespeare's more bawdy dialogs. (And might I say that until reading this novel, I have now come to appreciate Shakespeare all that much more myself!) This was so much fun to read! I absolutely loved both the main players of this novel. They were vibrant and really came to life under the direction of Ms. Jeffries. The sex was so hot to make you burn - the laughs had me wiping my eyes and holding my stomach - and the love story itself was precious! Griff's preoccupation with proving his legitimacy and furthering his company was uppermost in his mind. No matter how great the passion he still had to recognize the most precious thing of all - his heart had been missing until Rosalind helped him find it. This was a wonderful `feel good' sexy love story!

Rating: Summary: A truly terrible effort from a usually great author. Review: Having read the "Lord" books by Ms Jeffries, I did not hesitate to purchase this. Unfortunatly I was very disappointed, this was the first time I have ever had to struggle with finishing a romance novel. The main problem for me was the fact that I could not stand the main female character "Rosalind". She was a total unlikable character. The only thing that was not unbareble about her is that she physically was not the usual "perfect" woman usually depicted in romance novels. The fact that the lead female was so distasteful, and the totally generic male character "Griff", not to mention the ridiculous storyline, I gave it 2 stars. Only because I truly enjoyed the "Lord" series I will try anything else by Sabrina Jeffries.
Rating: Summary: Erotic and Witty! Review: I found this story to be thoroughly enjoyable. Not only did I get a kick out of the Shakespearean references (English major that I was), but Rosalind is entertaining with her refusal to fit any romantic norms. And Griff, too, as the pursurer wanting to settle down was nice to see for once; it was lovely to see the female force wreak such havoc upon the male protagonist. Perhaps the "misleading identity" crisis was a bit overdrawn, but original. And Rosalind's unorthodox behaviour definitely led to more than a few entertaining and inticing scenes!

Rating: Summary: Another Hit Review: I really enjoy Ms Jefferies books. This book was a fast read. My biggest complaint is that the Heroine is very inflexible and abrasive. The Hero does progress beyond his need for venegence, when he realizes that he loves the heroine and doesn't want to hurt her.
Rating: Summary: Finally--a hero with a heart AND a brain! Review: I've never picked up a Sabrina Jeffries book before, and A DANGEROUS LOVE didn't disappoint. First, it was a refreshing change of pace to read about a hero, Griff Knighton, who has a brain to go along with his romance-novel-required good looks. Second, Rosalind is a heroine with real class. She eschews the traditional (from her choices in marriage to her outrageous decor) to follow her gut instincts. The lack of cookie-cutter characters and the wonderful chemistry between the hero and heroine made this a tough book to put down. Definitely a book worth purchasing!
