Summary: Terrible disappointment.
Review: I was enjoying this book so much, I was stealing away every chance I could to indulge in reading. However their love fell apart when Robert showed up. From there it was downhill all the way. I don't care how expertly you bring them back together or whatever, the love just never recovers from that jolt. It ruined the entire novel for me. Even the epilogue couldn't save it. And don't insult me by telling me you brought back Alex & Jordan for fans! If the author can't come up with an original story for these two wonderful characters, she should have left them out entirely. I am so tired of authors feeling they've satisfied readers' requests if they simply mention prior characters somehow. It's a cop out. Ian was a very romantic, dashing hero and Elizabeth was great, but she should have actually used her pistol skills to shoot someone! The author weakened her in my eyes by making her so over-gentle.

Summary: Dreamy...Simply the BEST!
Review: At first I only read this book because my friend insisted that it was amazing.... well it not just amazing its extrodinary! The plot, the twist and the denial are the ones that really breath life into this exeptional book. The characters Elizabeth and Ian are best couple ever created through words... the will make you fall in love, angry and most of all you will be able to have a glimpes of the passion and the blazing love that lives in the human soul... Simply the BEST!...

Summary: An EXCEPTIONAL read!
Review: This book is a rare find in the world of over-abused themes and predictable plots that romance novels dwell in. It will pull you INTO the life of the characters and you will remember them always. Why was it exceptional? You get a real feel for the characters so that you understand them very well - J. McNaught is excellent at character development. Also, I think it was well written in that there are no loose ends at the end - everything gets explained - it's a big pet peeve of mine to read a book in which the author leaves you wondering about something (unless of course it's a suspense novel). The fact that it's not your average "Rake succumbs to marriage to virgin/virgin succeeds in taming a rake" makes it excitingly different - the hero is actually a nice guy! I hate to give summaries of the book as that is usually included in its description so I'll just say that Ian Thornton and Elizabeth Cameron come alive in this book - you won't want to put it down.

Summary: A Realistic, Satisfying Romance from J. McNaught
Review: I love this book. One of my top ten favorites in romance. It's one of the few historical or contemporary romance novels that draw the hero and heroine both as flawed and complex individuals who understand that love is not always easy or fairytale like. It doesn't take away from the charm and fun of the novel, but adds a wonderful richness. Ms. McNaught is a master in illustrating this relationship between Elizabeth and Ian, one of passion, misunderstandings, and in the end, genuine and believable happiness. A Highly recommended book for those who want intelligence and wit in romance novels. Also recommended: Ms. McNaught's Kingdom of Dreams and Something Wonderful.

Summary: No almost about it!!
Review: This novel, while it may not be historically correct, is the best romance I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Judith McNaught draws you into the story from page one, and you feel everything right along with Elizabeth. I particularly love the scenes Elizabeth makes in Ian's defense, I always find myself yelling along with her. This book makes you long for a love like they have, and also makes you want to bop Ian Thornton on the head a time or two. I have read this novel so many times that the cover is now falling off and it is time to replace it with a new copy. Hope this helps.

Summary: The ton needs to read over Debrett's and Burke's Peerages!
Review: REALLY, dahling...how would one know how to set a table if no one knows anyone else's rank? For example, Elizabeth Cameron - as Countess of Havenhurst - would be addressed as "Lady Havenhurst" or (after she was married to Ian), "Lady Kensington." Not "Lady Elizabeth," "Lady Cameron," "Lady Elizabeth Cameron," "Lady Elizabeth Thornton," or "Lady Thornton." Not ONCE was she addressed correctly in the whole novel! Her name shouldn't even be "Elizabeth Cameron," but "Elizabeth Havenhurst," and later, "Elizabeth Kensington." And, uh...off-the-shoulder dresses and brushed down hair at a ball? During the late Regency???? No matter how gorgeous and sweet everyone knew Elizabeth was, or how "relaxed" the party was, that girl would've been ruined right then and there.

OK, all kidding aside, I know this sounds anal retentive, and I should be focusing on the story, but an author is supposed to take you into another world and time when s/he writes an historical romance. Getting stuff like this wrong hugely detracts from the experience.

It seems to me that JM doesn't bother with much research for her historical novels. (Once and Always is another one that's riddled with errors.) Actually, I really like the romance of Almost Heaven, and it would have been spectacular if not for the details, details, details....

Summary: Once again, Judith McNaught delivers!
Review: Just incredible. That's all I have to say about this book. One of the most touching, enchanting stories I have ever had the absolute pleasure to read. Make sure you have nothing important to do, because once you begin this book you will not put it down until you've finished it. Another winner from the greatest romance author, ever.

Summary: I love Judith McNaught
Review: Ian and Elizabeth's story will make you laugh and cry. I love McNaught and have had to re-purchase several of her books due to the fact that I wear them out from re-reading. This one is no exception.

Ian is from the wrong side of the tracks so to speak and Elizabeth is from the nobility. Despite their differences they fall in love. If you have not read a McNaught book you are missing something special.

Summary: This is a "heaven"ly read!
Review: Almost Heaven has to be my favorite book of all time. I love the dynamics between Elizabeth and Ian; they are absolutely perfect for each other. Ian is not like JM's other heroes. He is very much his own man, and he makes the reader fall in love with who he is, not who he pretends to be. Elizabeth, I will admit, I found a little boring at first. But once the reader sees how much she has matured in the 2 years since the "scandal," she quickly becomes one of JM's best heroines. If you have not read this book, I will only give one scene away because it is my utter favorite in the book. Elizabeth asks Ian to show her how to cheat at cards, and at first he acts upset with her. However, she soon learns that Ian is a magnificent cheat, and I believe this is where Elizabeth finally faces the reality that she loves him. Sorry for spoiling a bit of this book, but it truly stands alone. No other romance I've read even comes close!
