Summary: Great hero wooes a streotypical heroine.
Review: Obviously the hero Max has been shortchanged.

"The Wedding Bargain" is a funny, light, and enjoyable read. I do enjoy the way Max overcome the 12 Labors of Hercules, and that man's arrogance can be pure seduction. "You need a hero. Me." Oh yes indeed.

But the heroine's a stock Bluestocking Cliche. It's either I have a sudden gift of sixth sense, or the heroine's predictable, from her mounting guilt over "troubling" Max to her getting jealous over Max's "affair" with her best friend to... everything she says and does really. "The Hellion of Grosvenor Square" is a fraud.

"The Wedding Bargain" is light and sweet, but like candy floss, it could also use more substance, especially in the heroine department.

Summary: A Deal is a Deal. Isn't it?
Review: Pandora Effington has been given the title "Hellion of Grosvenor Square" because her behavior is always skipping on the thin line between properity and scandle. She is a VERY stubborn 24 year old in her 7th season, and laughs at the thought of marriage; esp a marriage without love.
Maximillian Wells, the Earl of Trent, is just as stobborn as Pandora and know what he wants. He has finally decieded to marry. The woman who fits all of his requirements is the ever beautiful Pandora and he wants HER. But instead of accepting his suit like any other girl would do, she refuses and instead makes a bargain with him. If Max passes any one test of her choosing, she will marry him. However is Max fails, Pandora is allowed to pick Max's bride for him.

Victoria Alexander has done a wonderful job with this entire book! It was incredibly captivating and it kept my attention the entire way through! I think what impressed me most was how I could see the two characters fall in love with each other. Most authors don't show as much detail and this one did, but I am very happy with the way she did it! So yes I rate this 5 stars because it earned every star!!!!!

Summary: more than a little amusing
Review: This book is one of three in the series about the family of the duchy of Roxborough and is the best of the bunch. (The other 2 are the Marriage Lesson and the Husband List.) Pandora is definitely the most entertaining of the three heroines and Max's attempts to win her via the 12 labors of Hercules are a hoot. Unlike the other 2 books, Pandora and Max have more of a courtship and only have sex once prior to marriage. I felt that scene happened at the right time in their relationship, although I found it hard to believe that anyone would want to be intimate after having spent hours mucking out a stable! Not romantic or even aromatic! How about a serious bath first? In the other 2 books, Alexander's development of the couple's sex life was problematic, in my opinion, because they engaged in a lengthy sexual relationship prior to marriage without any thought to the impact on the courtship or potential repercussions. This type of interaction is more valid for a contemporary romance and struck a false note in those 2 books, especially in the Marriage Lesson where the female heroine was a single virgin at the time of the onset of the relationship. My only serious caveat to this book is my disbelief that Pandora would not recognize nor even remember the name of the man with whom she had pretended to elope several years before, who happened to be Max's best friend and whom everyone else in her family immediately recognized. This book is perfect for a light read on vacation, in a plane, or when you just need to relax.

Summary: An Excellent, Fun-Filled Romp!
Review: This book was just fabulous with an interestingly new plot and refreshing characters. It was a pleasure to read and had me laughing out loud.

Pandora wants a hero, and Max is determined to prove that he is one, so he asks her to devise a test for him to complete. If he wins they marry, and if she wins, she chooses his bride. Pandora gives him a test so difficult and unbelievably hard that it could only be completed by a god. Yes, it was the twelve labors of Hercules. How on earth can a man complete these labors. Well, you will see. The author's creativity in this storyline amused and astounded me. The plot alone makes this book a keeper.

The characters were also very appealing. Pandora was sort of the typical scandalous miss who was determined to marry for love and love alone, but I for one never tire of such heroines. Max was determined and proved himself to be the hero that Pandora desired, and the reader was pleased every time he met with success. He made the reader want him to win. These characters were perfect for each other and their story was a great read. I recommend it highly and wish you happy reading!

Summary: OK, but a little predictable
Review: This book wasn't bad, but it wasn't a favorite of mine. It didn't keep me hooked as some books do. I agree that the heroine was predictable and a little boring for someone who was supposedly so "wild". How many times do we have to read about that stereotypical heroine who doesn't ever listen to what everyone tells her, enjoys running around in men's clothing, and winds up giving into her primal urges with some man and have it wind up in a big misunderstanding. And I know that so many romance novels involve stupid situations brought about by miscommunication, but this one was chock full. No one communicates in this book! And could either one of them been any more jealous of one another? How could these people claim to love each other when they couldn't seem to trust one another to cross the street? Max was arrogant and I wasn't all that impressed by him as a hero either. I was actually more intrigued by the secondary romance between the two main characters' best friends! That was surprising and fun. I may sound as if I am slamming the book, and while it isn't great, it is OK.

Summary: funny and sexy
Review: This is a genuinely amusing book. The tension between the hero and heroine are well set up and their encounters are both funny and sexy. It is an altogether delightful romp until somewhere past the half way point where the plot gets a tad convoluted and the motivations and consequent actions of the characters cease to make sense.

Summary: great book to read
Review: This is the first Victoria Alexander book that I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of her books. The by-play between Pandora Effington and Maximillian Wells, the Earl of Trent is wonderful. The fact that Pandora refuses to marry for anything other than love irritates Max, especially considering the passion that flares between them. Max, however, is not prepared to give up, and with a little help from Pandora's family will even follow Pandora's 'Twelve Labours of Hercules' to win her. A very funny and very enjoyable book to read. I look forward to reading many more of VA's books
