Summary: If Only! Grade: B+
Review: A NOTORIOUS LOVE is a good story. Jeffries opens her second installment in her SWANLEA SPINSTERS series with Lady Helena Laverick arriving in London seeking out Daniel Brennan -- the deceitful knave from book one. Lady Helena must ask for the blackguard's assistance in a very personal family matter. Her younger sister, Juliet, has eloped with a fortune hunter. Of course, Daniel thinks Helena is overreacting. Yet, Daniel cannot refuse this very prim and proper lady, even if she has the razor sharp tongue of a viper.

Posing as a married couple, Daniel and Helena embark on a rescue journey. They must find that little runaway and her notorious sweetheart. Of course, they find themselves very attracted to one another. Yet, annoying problems get in the way -- social class differences, Helena's physical weakness, Helena's tight-laced attitude, and finally Daniel's insecurity. Still, the author allows some humorous moments. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough of these moments. Although, this is page turner material, with a little more humor the author could have made her story a phenomenal adventure.

Daniel Brennan has the makings of a fine hero -- a rough around the edges kind of guy. However, the stuffy Helena takes too long to let down her hair. This heroine spends too much time whining and complaining. It wasn't until Helena consumed the beastly ale that the reader finally jumped into her corner. One of Sabrina Jeffries' strong suits is her ability to write humor. The author's description, of a tipsy Helena was sheer delight. Sigh, if only Jeffries had further relied on her strength . . .

Although A NOTORIOUS LOVE is a readable and pleasant story, there is a nagging sensation that something is wrong. Could it be that the author dragged out every dilemma? It was only when Jeffries allowed her humorous pen to take over that I turned the pages with gusto.

Summary: A Notorious Love is joyously bawdy
Review: A Notorious Love is my first read from Sabrina Jefferies - and it certainly wouldn't be my last. Lady Helena Laverick seeks the notorious Daniel Brennman to aid her in finding her youngest sister Juliet who has eloped with a shadowy Captain Morgan Pryce. Little did she expect that her curiosity of men will be piqued at the sight of Daniel's physique and his bawdy demeanor -throwing all the strictures on Ms. N's guide for Lady Etiquettes to the wind.

Daniel finds himself protective of the crippled Helena and a sizzling match with her acid tongue. She cannot compromise with the fact that she is beautiful despite her flaws - and when love comes knocking, Daniel is even more sceptical with his sordid past as a smuggler. Even more so - when the story reveals his uncle to be the nefarious smuggler Crunch.

Sabrina Jefferies rescues the bounded plot with quick banters and sizzling passion. Helena and Daniel with their chemistry fill the void with magical love and wrenching tenderness. Despite her incapacities, Helena is portrayed with a resilience that shines with resonance when she rescues Daniel from the bandits with her cane. Her unflinching honesty in her flaws makes her endearing. A NOTORIOUS LOVE is joyously and rambunctiously hilarious with the oddball couple lighting the fireworks. The passion inside should make Ms. Jefferies an author of positive notoriety to historical romance readers.

Summary: Looking for the heroine who is not perfect?
Review: A wonderful story by Sabrina Jeffries. And finally a woman who is not perfect. She has spunk, gumption etc... but she also must use a cane as she suffered from a illness that left her lame (polio). But, she doesn't quit and ends up doing more than just masquerading as a wife...

She is looking for help from Mr. Brennen to find her sister before it is "to late" she knows her sister is running away to elope and thinks the man she is eloping with is all wrong. So she goes to find Mr. Brennen (who she finds answers his door in his underware....) A fun story with a bit of mystery attached.

Summary: The best Sabrina Jeffries book yet !
Review: Having read all the "Lord" series books, I was hopeful that this series would not disappoint. I must say, it not only was as good as her previous books, but it even surpassed them. Helena and Daniel are two memorable, enjoyable characters and I felt I was brought right along with them in their adventures.

I would highly recommend this book to Sabrina Jeffries fans, or just fans of the romancs genre. You will be swept away by the story !

Summary: I expected more...
Review: I expected a lot more from Ms. Jeffries than this book delivered. I have read her books from the beginning and have loved every one of them. A Notorious Love was a disappointment. I did not feel the spark that was clear in the past books. This one seemed flat and after awhile, I got a bit bored.

Please do not mistake me. I adore Ms. Jeffries books in general and would recommend any of her others (especially the Lord series). I have great faith that her coming books will be better.

P.S. to her publisher: get over the ___ Love titles already!

Summary: Two for Two in This "Love" Series
Review: I gave this 5 stars because it's a good story and a delightful page-turning read. As with the first book in this series of three sisters (A Dangerous Love) it's about unconventional pairings in a sweet love story. Ms Jeffries writes about interesting, feisty women and loving, strong-minded men. She doesn't bore the reader with pages of descriptions that are not relevant to moving the tale along. Her love scenes are provocative but still romantic and believable. As Rosalind and Griff were good together in Number One, Helena and Daniel are perfect in Number Two. We are all guessing...SEQUEL and Number Three has got to be about Juliet and her mysterious captor/savior Morgan Pryce. Ms. Jeffries other books are good, too. She has a nice sense of humor and her books are a joy to read. You can't go wrong.

Summary: A Notorious Love...Loved it!
Review: I just could not put the book down! I finished it in less than a day. I thought the two main characters Daniel and Helena were a lot of fun, Daniel the rascal and Helena, the spinster. I laughed at loud at some of their battles and antics.

I gave this book four stars because I felt the plot was rather weak. Helena's sister supposedly eloped with an unsavory character and so, she enlists the help of Daniel, a once unsavory character himself at one time to help her find her sister and save her from disgrace.

Other than that, I found the book HIGHLY enjoyable. The two main characters just kept the story going.

Summary: Funny And Entertaining
Review: I loved this story. I have been waiting to read Helena and Daniel's story ever since reading A Dangerous Love. I loved Daniel as a hero. He is so loving and tender when he helps Helena overcome her insecurities over her bad leg. This is one of Sabrina Jeffries best efforts.

Summary: JUST AN OK BOOK
Review: I really expected more from Jeffries' latest book. It was an extremely dull setting with even more dull characters. I enjoyed her Lord series very much, but the books after that were really flat. There was much more emotion and spirit with her first trilogy. You could pass on this book

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Even better than the first!
Review: I really liked the first book in this series, but as I got farther into it I found I was very interested in the snippets of interaction between Daniel and Helena and by the end I was anxious to move on to their story. I loved that both of these characters are flawed, one physically and the other emotionally, and neither thinks the other could possible want them. But their chemistry is undeniable, and I really appreciate that Jeffries lets them be honest with their desire for one another, instead of writing them as unrealistically coy or overly noble. The love scenes are erotic and tender, a perfect balance. Now I have to go find the third in the series!
