Summary: Erotica a Girl can Bite Into
Review: Review of Laura Antoniou's Newest Book: The Reunion, part of The Marketplace Series
By Sensuous Sadie

I never thought of myself as a reviewer of erotica, particularly BDSM erotica. Maybe it's because my approach to sex is so orgasm-centric, or maybe it's because as an editor myself, I read an awful lot of, well, drek. It was only by sheer accident that I came to be reading Laura Antoniou's Marketplace series of erotica. It came about because I was doing an interview with her, and couldn't very well say "hey, love your stuff," when I hadn't actually read any, could I? So I picked up The Marketplace, the first in the series, and am now wrapping up with her latest, The Reunion, which at twice the size certainly gives you a lot of bang for your erotic buck.

I may have started out reading Laura's stuff in order not to embarrass myself, but I finished reading it because Laura is one heck of a writer. I expected long, drawn out erotic fiction detailing the usual hours of oral gratification, but no real characters or plot (a.k.a. drek). Instead, The Reunion is about real kinky folk, young and old; thin and fat; sometimes fearful, sometimes confused, but always focused on their slave natures. I soon found a character who I could relate to, and liked the rest of them enough to get hot with them on their various adventures.

The beginning of her novels have a real storyline, which in this case is a reunion of many of the former slaves who went through the "Marketplace," a training center of international renown. Robin, a slave who was introduced in the second book of the series, travels to Ireland for this reunion. She has just been freed from her slave contract and is struggling with living without a collar. On the way she meets up with Chris Parker, a veteran trainer who will help her, and himself find their way to new relationships. It is in Kaleigh castle that Robin, Chris and many other slaves engage in some lively drama, as well as plenty of steamy scenes!

So thank you Laura for writing something that's kept me warm all though this Brrrr cold Vermont Winter. I look forward to your next book.

Note: Laura's Marketplace series of books do not have to be read in sequence, but I still recommend it for context.

Summary: good book though not her best
Review: the story of the marketplace continue, and we get to read about the two most interesting charecters in the series reunite, robin, who just finished her contract and trying to deside between going back to the marketplace or being a free woman, and chris, who still serve in japan. other then that the book just got it all, a whole bunch of interesting, sexualy veried people, in all ages, genders and sexual preferences, a mistery stroy of a noisy tabloid reporter trying to expose the marketplace, a few love stories and so on. it's a lot of fun to read, being both an intelegent book and a funny one, and on top of all - a highly sexual novel.

on the other hand, readingthe first 3 books in the series, i felt i was being given a massage, an interesting life philosophy who was focused enough to be portray to me in minimalist serounding of very few location and charecter, i could feel one intence emotion getting through to me with each page. this book's diffrent, it's a bit too long and it spreads over too many charecters and stories. the massage behind the sex and emotions isn't as clear to me, if indeed there is one, it bounces between a lot of marketplace politics and rules and somthing about black people being slaves which wasn't really enough to hold the moral of a whole book.

it's a nice read, couldn't put it down, though unlike the other marketplace book this didn't had a profound effect on me.

Summary: Latest Book in an excellent series!
Review: This is the latest book in the Marketplace Series. As with the rest of the series, it deals with service-oriented BDSM in a thoughtful, insightful manner, while also containing some of the best-written and hottest scenes you could ever want to read. Favorite characters from previous books, plus some fascinating new characters, attend a Reunion at a castle in Europe, a time for them to re-evaluate some of their past decisions and decide on new directions for their lives, while simultaneously fending off a plot by an unscrupulous reporter to reveal the existence of the Marketplace to the public.

Summary: The World of the Marketplace Continues to Become More Real
Review: This is the longest and most complex of the Marketplace series. Laura Antoniou continues to develop familiar characters and introduces us to new ones but all serving the purpose of making you think there really is a Marketplace and you'd love to be a part of it -- and there are so many parts to play! The only reason I would not give the book 5 stars is because of the awful production values. The book is longer than it needs to be. She needed a good structure editor on this one. But I could have been OK with the length. It was two egregious problems beyond that. It appears that no one did just plain old copy editing for spelling, words out of order and some very confusing sentences. But the worst problem of all was the lousy type. The font was difficult and the type size became a torture to read worthy of a Marketplace trainer! I truly was bleary eyed from the effort. This series would seem to be very successful. I don't see why they could not have produced a higher quality technical product. I will still look forward to the next installment and hope they hire an editor and a competent printer.

Summary: A wild ride
Review: This is truly the best I have read by Laura. It has many twist and turns and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The way Robin was reunited with Chris Parker is just amazing. I could just imagine her suprise. As the book follows them through the weekend, it opens you to other characters. Including a wide variety of families. From a normal Mother and Father, to Gay Couple, and finally to a Lord and Lady. This book provides mystery, suspense, romance, and as always some way kinky environments. It reminds me a mixture between a Mary Higgins Clark, Anne Rice, and a Pauline Reage. It took me two days to read, I just couldn't put it down. Those steamy scenes between the many guest keep me smiling. Keep up the good work.

Summary: She appreciates alll of our people
Review: Trying to remember that this is the fifth book instead of the first. Lost of depth the readers of the first 4 were delving in is at least illuminated. (:

"She appreciates alll of our people" -- Ani Defranco

I think that is a good quote to describe this series of books, and especially the last one. The author apprceciates all of our people. (: The Reuninon is a reunion with the reader's self. The Reunion is a healing, sexual, explorative piece of work not soon forgotten, nor soon sated. It's addictive and more: it's something that makes you look at your life

Summary: Laura Antoniou Has Done It Again!
Review: _The Reunion_, the most recent addition to Laura Antoniou's masterfully written Marketplace series, enticed me with the continuing development of complex, believable characters. Set seven years after Antoniou's _The Slave_ (the second book in the series), _The Reunion_ brings two favorate characters back together. Their adventures are retold and relived, and all the while new adventures are had...

Set in the beautifully described Kaleigh castle in Ireland, _The Reunion_ reveals more depth to fictional characters and their encounters than this reader attributes to many nonfictional people! Add to that the plots and subplots of the novel, and the smoldering lust of the characters as they thoroughly enjoy their vacation (and each other), and _The Reunion_ delivers a pervasively enjoyable reading experience.

I recommend this book to all adults who enjoy believable romantic fiction. Whether interested in the activities presented in the novel or not, this masterpiece will keep you enthralled, from cover to cover. Enjoy!
