Summary: I assure you that you will love this book!!!!
Review: Let me tell you something about She Went All the Way: IT ROCKS!
It's so funny.

Lou - as succesful screenwriter -thinks nothing could get worse in her life, I mean, her actor boyfriend of ten years just eloped with an air head actress, and she is stuck in Alaska were she has to convince the director of one her screenplays not to blow a mine. And to get down to the set she has to share a ride with actor Jack, ex boyfriend of the actress with whom Lou's ex eloped with and star of the movie Lou wrote. Did I mention that Lou and Jack don't get a long one single bit?

Well, things look pretty bad already, and they do get worst when the pilot tries to shoot Jack and the helicopter ends up going down, leaving Lou and Jack alone in the frosty Alaskan outback! And things are just starting.

Follow them in their ride scapeing armed assasins and their search of safety. And their final realization of why they really do fight as much as they do.

Read it, you won't be dissapointed. THis book has it all!

And the Ending it's AWSOME!!!!!!!!

Summary: Wonderful dry wit...
Review: Lou Calabrese has had wonderful success as a Hollywood screenwriter, but in love, she's not had much luck. Her fiance has just dumped her for his recent costar who dumped her lover as well. Now Lou is sharing close quarters with the other jilted party in a helicopter ride over the wilds of Alaska. That was bad enough, but only unpleasant. Now, when the pilot pulls out a gun and threatens to shoot her seatmate, Jack Townsend, that goes beyond unpleasant. Fortunately, thanks to a thorough cinematic education, Lou and Jack are able to escape. They set off on a hair raising trek from the wilderness to civilization, pursued by people wanting to kill them. That's the downside. On the upside, they discover that the mutual hatred they've had for one another for several years has turned into a passionate love.

*** With high adventure and snappy dialog, Ms. Cabbot tells a story that is as fun for adult readers as her Princess Diaries is for the younger set. Her surprise ending and dry wit make for another winner. ***

Review: SHE WENT ALL THE WAY by Meggin Cabot
8/16/04

Courtesy of WWW.LOVEROMANCES.COM

Meggin Cabot's, THE BOY NEXT DOOR, was a delight to read, and was one laugh after another. SHE WENT ALL THE WAY is another story. Although this novel starts off great, there are scenes that seem a bit forced, and over all, this book is only marginally recommended. It's a great beach read, despite the fact that most of the book takes place in the cold wintry environs of Alaska. It's light, and fast, and there is not much thinking involved, which qualifies for a great read at the beach or anywhere on vacation during these summer months.

Lou Calabrese is a scriptwriter, and has made some of the highest grossing Hollywood films ever. At the start of this book, she's just been dumped by long time boyfriend-turned-super-movie-star, Bruno Di Blasé, (not his real name) because he's fallen in love with his co-star in a movie that Lou wrote. She's bitter, but knows she is better off without him. They were high school sweethearts, but apparently he didn't mean that much to her. What she's worried about are the tabloids, which can be awfully nasty.

Lou goes to Alaska to participate in the latest sequel to her popular movie series starring Jack Townsend, one of Hollywood's most popular stars. The down side to this is the two of them do not get along. The upside is that she gets to put him in the most precarious situations, since she's the scriptwriter. Jack happens to be her best friend's ex, and he's been known to love `em and leave `em. When the two of them end up on a helicopter ride together that ends up crashing in the wilds of Alaska, their troubles have only just begun.

While the rest of the world thinks the two of them are dead, Lou and Jack are desperately trying to stay alive, while some madman tries to kill Jack. It is one crazy scene after another, just like those from her many movie scripts. The book itself reads like a very unlikely, unbelievably crazy James Bond movie, but as long as the reader does not get too caught up in what appears to be a totally outlandish story-line, one will be able to get through SHE WENT ALL THE WAY. It's pure escapism, with a romance that is sure to please any reader of the genre. On the other hand, the book could have been much better, and while it started with a bang, it did not maintain the same caliber of writing throughout the book. Anyone looking for a better book should try THE BOY NEXT DOOR.

Summary: Enjoyable Read ~
Review: Since I love The Boy Next Door, I wanted to read other books by this author, so I read this book it was an enjoyable read, I love Lou and Jack's character, here they didn't know it in the beginning they belong to together. I love the way Lou kept saying that she would not fall in love with another actor the more she kept pushing Jack away the more he was getting closer to her. I loved there parents they are so cute you can't help but cheer for them too :) Cute book!
Happy Reading Lisa

Summary: Strong start, very weak finish.
Review: The book started out very strong. Lou's character was very well fleshed out, and there was lots of humor. I loved the fact that Lou was mentally strong, and that when she and Jack were fleeing from the bad guys, it was Lou who kept saving the day. But after Lou and Jack made it back to civilization, the plot just flopped. The ending was very stupid, so much so that I skimmed through most of it. Jack's reluctance to tell Lou he loved her, and to settle down and get married was not very credible. The author didn't give a convincing reason of why he was such a womanizer, and why, at this point in his life when he'd realized that his life as an actor was pretty empty, he wasn't more willing to settle down.

I also absolutely hated the character of Vicky. She was vain and shallow and had absolutely no redeeming qualities. The fact that Lou kept her as a friend doesn't say very good things about Lou's character. In fact, having a Vicky as a friend was so inconsistent with Lou's character that I think the author should have spent more time thinking that through. I agree with others that the blowing up of the abandoned mine was totally lacking in credibility. There's no way that any state, let along Alaska, would permit that to happen, especially when it would jeopardize the habitat of wildlife. Again, a little more research and forethought by the author would have gone a long way to making this a much better read.

Summary: Rollicking, humorous, & sexy romp in the Alaskan wilderness!
Review: There are not many humorous books that I give a five star rating. On top of that, there are few books that carry such a ridiculous name as "She Went All the Way" that I would actually attempt to carry around with me to read. After all, I would get some strange looks from many friends if they saw the cover. How could I convince them that underneath that very misleading name, sat a very well done, sophisticated, contemporary romance comedy with characters that actually have depth and a mystery that keeps you guessing until the end!

This book was just plain fun. My first impression was only okay because I was distracted by the setting up of so many secondary characters. But that investment in those characters is well worth it. Just because they get a lot of attention in the beginning of the book does not mean that is the way of the book. The relationship between Jack and Lou, the hero and heroine, is definitely the thrust of this story. Most of the pages are dedicated to this relationship with the secondary characters only adding some zest here and there. And if you have read any of my reviews, you know that the time allowed for the leads to develop their relationship is an important criteria for a favorable rating.

Lou Calebrese is a academy award winning screen writer. She has written her successful screenplays for six years and is well entrenched in the ways of Hollywood. Her boyfriend of ten years (since high school) has just left her after she had written a screenplay, Hindenburg, for him as lead actor. Hindenburg was a huge hit and made him a super star. Now he has eloped with his Hindenburg co-star. Lou has developed a rather cynical attitude towards the male species since this break up. One thing she vows to never do again is date another actor. And she means it! Really, really, really!

Jack Townsend is a yummy and highly popular actor. Lou has written the screenplay for four of Jack's movies - all which have been giant hits. Jack is known for dating and leaving woman after woman and has, in fact, left a large number behind. He had proclaimed in a rare interview once that he did not believe in monogamy and did not intend to marry. However, Jack is a fairly reclusive man. He has a ranch away from LA and spends every day he can there. He dislikes Hollywood and all its games. He is actually a pretty nice guy and not near as arrogant as he seems once we start to hear things from his side. He has always admired a beautiful screen writer, Lou Calebrese, but realizes she does not like him at all. He is actually annoyed at her dislike of him because he has never had a lady dislike him before. After all, he does realize he is charming and he does love a lady's company and - oh yeah - he isn't conceited about it either. It's just fact and that is how he sees it. When his former girlfriend, the costar of the smash hit, Hindenburg, elopes with Lou's ex-boyfriend, it is a huge media frenzy. No one knows that Jack doesn't really care and has moved on prior to the unexpected elopement.

One day, while filming a movie in Alaska, Jack and Lou find it necessary to share a helicopter ride to the set. During this ride, the pilot attempts to kill Jack and the helicopter crashes in the woods of Mount McKinley. Jack and Lou escape the pilot but find themselves running for their lives, through the Alaska wilderness, in the midst of two large snow storms. As Jack and Lou are forced to interact, Lou is wise-cracking and putting down Jack every chance she gets. Jack, on the other hand, is treating Lou kindly - however she may interpret it. Jack has decided that Lou really intrigues him and begins an attempt to break down her defenses. It's a fun and sometimes hilarious ride as these two outmaneuver the bad guys and fight the weather. As the two grow closer, there are a few sensual scenes that rate a solid 4.0 out of 5.0 (see More About Me for rating guidelines).

I have read this author under the name of Patricia Cabot. It is my understanding that Cabot writes her contemporary novels under the name of Meggin Cabot and her historical novels as Patricia Cabot. I have enjoyed her historical novels tremendously - they contain a certain subtle humor that thoroughly entertains me. I have already gone online and ordered another of Cabot's books written as Meggin because, despite the name, She Went All the Way, this was a fantastic book and I want to find more like it!
