Rating: Summary: Better than Her Last Several Review: Nora Roberts sells a huge number of books, but if you've read her for a long time, you'll notice that, for the last five years or so, they are written from a "Nora Roberts" cookie cutter in the Nora Roberts book baking factory. Anyone can write them. They're getting pretty dull to the point that I've passed on several of her more recent books, where I used to buy them all. Well, this one follows her pattern but the plot is interesting enough to pull the characters along. Not that the plot is believable, but everything is put together well enough for an OK book. If you want to read good Nora Roberts, go back five years and more to her older books. It is unfortunate that many of the classic romance authors are in this cookie cutter phase.
Rating: Summary: Romance & Adventure in one book Wow!!!!! Review: What I can I tell you, except that I loved it!!!! Could not put it down. There was something magical about Malachi and Gideon, (have to love those Irish men). Tia was very special and kept me laughing most of the time. Malachi should be commended for turning Tia around. I did not like Cleo that much at the beggining, she was not right for Guideon........ Jack and Becca great toguether and Eileen should have participated more on the quest. Great story over all, excellent plot. I wonder if Anita Gaye will escape from prison and tries to steal the Fates again, will make an excellent sequel.
Rating: Summary: What's happening to Nora? Review: I have to say that when I first saw this book on shelves, I hesitated to buy it. Nora's books of late have been lacking. Still, I hoped for the best and bought it anyway. The only interesting chapter was the prologue and it went downhill from there. It was drawn out, totally boring and could've been wrapped up in less than one-hundred pages. The characters were unlovable, the plot was horrific and I couldn't even get halfway through it. It aws the first Nora Roberts book that I remember not finishing. Save your money people, Nora has totally lost the talent that pennned such books as Hidden Riches, Montana Sky and Honest Illusions. Maybe all the fame has gone to her head and she doesn't think her fans are deserving of a well-thought out book. T ime to look for a new author which is heartbreaking because Nora has been mine for almost a decade. However, I can't continue to shell out money for books that make Nora richer and leave me unfulfilled.
Rating: Summary: Romance, adventure, humor, intrigue! What's not to like? Review: With a heart wrenching beginning aboard the ill-fated Lusitania, NR weaves a thrilling romantic adventure around the descendants of a thief who survives the disaster, and a stolen silver statue. Weave is the operative word- all the threads dangled so tantalizingly before us are swept together at the end of the book in a deliciously satisfying conclusion. This is a seamless trilogy in one book, even better than the Mithra series (and check those out!) One of Nora's best, and that's saying a lot.
Rating: Summary: A great book to read as an "escape." Review: It has been a long time since I have read a book by Nora Roberts and I think I may be hooked again. I loved the Sullivan family and the way Ms. Roberts tied a cast of very different characters together in a meaningful way. The story of these three silver Greek statues and this Irish family may have been over the top at times, but I didn't seem to mind because this book sucked me in from the very first page. This is a story of luck and love and the mystery of a priceless family heirloom that you will not want to miss!!
Rating: Summary: Three Fates Review: Very dissappointed with the use of trashy language. I usually buy Nora Robert's books without thumbing through them first. Won't do that anymore. Usually pass on my books to my Mom, but not this one. Recently we were discussing how we enjoy Nora's books and appreciate they aren't full of profanity. I truly hope this isn't what we can expect from her in future books. If so, I won't be spending my money on them. The story line was great. She's too good an author to resort to the profane.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Read Review: Nora Roberts always writes an exceptional book but I especially loved this one! It had the right amount of intrigue mixed with just enough romance to keep me glued to my seat! I couldn't put it down! I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who is need of a good romantic suspence novel but make sure you have plenty of time to settle down and read because as I said it is hard to put down!
Rating: Summary: romance, intrigue, suspense Review: this books is great, especially if you are more drawn to Nora's romantic suspense novels. It never fails to amaze me how Nora links her characters together, and this book is a prime example of that. For those of you who are avid Nora fans, you know her books range from romance, romatic suspence, fantsy and more. In this book, you get a little of all her genius. Starting with historical, with the sinking of the Lusitania, then the legend of the Three Fates, a trio of small statues and the quest of several people trying to obtain them. Nora also gives the reader a little bit a greek mythology, which makes me wonder, is there anything this woman can't write about? Once again, she introduces us to three siblings, and gives the book a strong family element. The siblings of course, find love, but never without trial. The villian is a little over the top, as her motivation is not really substanial enough to make her actions believable. I only point that out if that sort of thing matters to you, to me it does not, because I certainly don't read her novel for their believability, I read them to be swept away in a story. And that, unquestionably, is something her novels always do for me. Is this book my favorite of hers? No. But it's definately worth the price of the harcover.
Rating: Summary: Love this book! Review: I wasn't expecting Three Fates to be as good as it was, but this book had everything! Romance, adventure, a little saddness(but in a good way) and my favorite, humor. I loved all the characters, but I have to say that my favorite couple was Tia and Malachi. He knew what he wanted and he did what had to be done in order to get Tia. Tia was the character who grew the most in the book. I also liked Cleo a lot who brought some spunk into the book. I could relate to Tia and to me Malachi was a real charmer. I also loved how they tricked the bad guy in the end. This book had me at the edge of my seat! This book was my favorite next to Honest Illusions and I never had as much fun reading Nora's books as I did when read Honest Illusions and Three Fates. Believe me this book is not to be missed! If you like a good romance suspense, this book is for you!
Rating: Summary: Romance and Adventure in a Fun Romp Review: This is not the best of Nora Roberts, but it's nevertheless a fun, easy-to-read and entertaining adventure that reminded me of "Topkapi," "Charade," and other lighthearted art-inspired movies. The plot concerns three small silver statues of mythology's three Fates. Alone, they are fairly valuable pieces. Together, as they were intended to be, they are priceless. So priceless that at least one antiques dealer, the nefarious Anita Gaye, is willing to kill to get her hands on them. Enter our heroes: A fine, Irish family named Sullivan, that inherited one of the statues, only to have it stolen by the horrible Ms. Gaye. Malachai, Gideon, and their sister Rebecca, all gorgeous, smart, and irresistible, want their statue back. And they want the other two as well, so they can, along with their mother Eileen, pump up their small boat-tour company, and expand in style. Roberts always tells a good story when the characters are Irish, and this is no exception. Each of the formidable siblings meets his or her match in the race for the statues: Malachai teams with shy, withdrawn Tia Marsh, an art historian and heir to one of New York's finest antiques houses; Gideon finds himself entwined (in more ways than one) with fiercely independent stripper Cleo Tolliver, who just happens to own one of the three statues, and Rebecca loses her heart to collector and security expert Jack Burdett. Will the Sullivans et al. retrieve the Fates? Will Anita Gaye self-destruct on her murderous quest? Will the three sets of lovers find out they were made for each other? Pick up the book and find out--it's a good, fast read.
