Rating: Summary: STARDUST........ Review: Oh my gosh, I absolutely LOVED this book! I had a terrible time stopping and putting it down! Although I tend to head for "classic historical" romances", I found this "deviation" from classic to paranormal utterly delightful. I had an inkling that I might like it from the moment I read the description on the BACK of the book...but I LOVED it once I started reading it...(and took it with me everywhere ~ to pick kids up from school, to the grocery store ~ hoping I might find even a SPARE MOMENT to continue the reading this fascinating story.....). It most definitely lived up to my hopes and expectations. THIS reader would HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT, especially to anyone who is a "hopeless romantic" such as I am. READ IT and ENJOY! Nancy Jo
Rating: Summary: Every page is a Pleasure Review: I had the great good fortune of meeting Ms. Kurland at her first book signing event for this great book. I remember thinking that she was pure grace under pressure. I was honored to buy the first copy and having it signed by the author. Since that long ago day in a Lynnwood, WA. Crown Bookstore, I have read this book at least 10 times. With each reading , I find nuances that I missed, or had forgotten. I laugh, I cry and I fall in love with Kendrick and Genevieve's story all over again. What's not to love? Filled with timeless love, well developed characters and a touch of gentle humour, Ms. Kurland proved herself worthy of the awards that followed. Lynn, if you bother to read your reviews, I wanted you to know that I wouldn't sell my copy for the world. It may be a little ragged and have a few tears of laughter staining its pages, but it will always be on my shelf of favorites. I knew that day, and I think I even told you this that day, You are destined for great things. I'm so happy you proved me right!
Rating: Summary: Loved It Review: This book had just enough romance to keep my happy and it made me laugh and smile as I read it. I was sorry when it was done. I like a book that will make me smile as I read it, there just are not enough of the romance books that are like that.
Rating: Summary: Sorry, guys, but... Review: I couldn't finish this book. I found the heroine extremely immature and annoying, especially for her age. And it was just too cute and kitschy for my taste.
Rating: Summary: What a let down!! Review: I opened this book and started reading and it started of fine. I curled up in bed looking forward to a great get away read. I had read Ms kurland's "This is all I ask" and thoroughly enjoyed it. It can be the little things that ruin a book. That just annoy you so much it totally spoils the rest of the work put in. In my case it was the "Football" I don't know if Ms kurland couldn't be bothered doing a bit of research or is just so one eyed American that no other type of sports exist. But to have the male hero who is meant to be a Medieval British ghost pinning for "American" football!! Hello!!!! The English love there own football with a passion close to a religion! Whether it's soccer or rugby I suggest she checks out an international game of Rugby between the British Lions and the Aussie Wallaby's and listens to the 20,000 Briton's known as the "Barmy Army" who have traveled half way around the world to spend a month supporting their hero's! I'm not a huge football fan I've usually got my head stuck in a romance novel while the rest of the family watches. But this really annoyed me! It would have been interesting to have the American heroine trying to compare gridiron to soccer or the Hero trying to explain the rules of rugby to the all American girl. But the way it was done I found insulting and ignorant. I won't waste my money on this author again.
Rating: Summary: Star Struck Review: Unlike some other reviews here, I found this book and the story line to be unique and wonderful. Genevieve Buchanan is a wonderful heroine who talks a big talk until the man she has been telling off materializes into someone real and tangable and who she can't just make go away. She is frightend to love him, if she let's her heart believe in him and love him, will he dissapear, as the curse foretells. So she writes away his freedom when she signs her name to a deed and opens his life anew. The supporting characters were unique and interesting and made you want to know more about them. I found this to be a thrilling read that I couldn't put down until I knew what would happen. I loved it. In a genre where you don't find many really good time travel novels such as Eugenia Riley writes, you have to love this one.
Rating: Summary: A FRACTURED FAIRY TALE... Review: This is a fairytale for adults. Though not particularly well written, it is, nonetheless, a humorous and inventive story of a modern day virgin who inherits a castle and her very own ghost. The ghost is literally a knight in shining armor. This handsome and charming thirteenth century knight is doomed to haunt the halls of this castle keep for all eternity, unless he can persuade a descendant of the woman who consigned him to his fate to sign the castle over to him. Needless to say, the ghost and this twentieth century maiden fall in love. What happens to them is sure to delight readers of romance novels everywhere.
Rating: Summary: A most charming ghost of a host Review: This book combines elements of paranormal and time-travel romance, two categories I'm generally not fond of. Yet I really, really enjoyed Kendrick - a twelfth century ghost with a Jag in the garage (who cares if he can't drive it) and a passion for American football. The first two hundred pages of this book are a delight. Genevieve inherits Kendrick's castle and he goes from trying to scare her to death to falling in love with her. I consider myself a grounded, logical person but I had no problem suspending disbelief for this part of the story.Ironically, it's the next hundred pages when a human problem of Genevieve's becomes the obstacle that I wanted to throw the book across the room. Her "problem" was beyond believing for me. Still, this has some potential as a keeper simply because Kendrick is one of the most enchanting heroes I've encountered in the last year. He kind of makes you want to have a ghost of your own.
Rating: Summary: A romance novel with humor. Review: Lynn Kurland put just the right amount of humor and sarcasm into this book which kept it from being your typical romance novel. It was clever and fun and just plain funny. As the last surviving member of her bloodline, Genevieve inherits a castle. She is told that the castle has a couple of 'quirks', but is not informed that it has a ghost. This leads to a humorous beginning, and thus sets the basis for a wonderful and funny spin on what would otherwise be just another romance novel.
Rating: Summary: Avoid this stinker Review: If you like strong men with a thing for airheads, you'll love this book. I hated it. The heroine is a childish nitwit who runs around in footy pajamas and pigtails, and is terrified by the thought of a gorgeous male making love to her. Imagine! Isn't that what women read romance novels for?? The final straw came when the author deprived her audience of the much-much-awaited love scene by (literally) slamming the door in our faces. Kurland CAN write and shows skill with humor. Too bad she picked a preschooler for a heroine.
