Summary: What more could you ask
Review: I recently found Ms. Kurland, as I hungered for a good book to read. I love how this author can make you believe in her characters. What really moved me about this story was that the hero and heroin were not "perfect" they had flaws, but found that with true love, flaws are in truth, character. Grand job and I can't wait for her next book.

Summary: A wonderful love story
Review: I have read all of Lynn's books and this is in the same caliber as the rest of them. Gillian and Chris are two very lost souls who find in each other the will to live again and love for the first time. They both need what they can give to each other. A great story especially with the secondary characters in Lynn's other books. I can highly recommend it.

Summary: This Is All I Ask
Review: I found this book to be so ingulfing i could'nt put it down. The love that these two lost souls thought they could never have was right there in them. It makes you take a good long look at yourself and remember the old saying it's what's inside the makes you beautiful. I smiled so during this read and cried a lil' too. Thank you Lynn, thank you so much.

Summary: Maybe If It Was the Last Book On Earth
Review: I read the reviews and I was quite excited about this book butI have to say I was very disappointed. The heroine is about asemotionally developed as a 12-year-old which is understandable considering her upbringing, but it doesn't make her very interesting. Additionally it seemed that she was cobbled together from a bunch of stereotypes. She's the girl who thinks she's ugly but we find out she really isn't, she's tomboyish enough to play with a sword--but from what I read she really doesn't know how to use it nor does she have the presence of mind to keep from dropping it at the first sign of threat.

I also found Ms. Kurland's lack of realism in dealing with a blind character very hard to dismiss. The blind have more highly developed other senses than the sighted because of compensation, but they aren't Jedi Knights. Her hero is better developed than her heroine and certainly more likable, but once again with the stereotypes we're supposed to believe that a single incident of malice on the part of one woman has rendered our hero incapable of self examination and love.

The three witches are interesting characters and fun to read because of well-written banter but I found the plot twists around them contrived. It seemed like a way for Ms. Kurland to tell what was going on with things rather than allowing the actions of her hero and heroine to show this.

Ms. Kurland has a good command of language and I think she had a very good idea for a story, but I could not reconcile the immaturity of much of the storyline with the very real and very serious issues.

Summary: A hero for a change
Review: I love all of Lynn Kurland's books(except maybe for "Another chance to dream"). This book is very well written compared to all other romance novels that I have read. Why? Simply because her hero has one flaw, which makes it really different from all other romance novels in which the hero is too good without a flaw and the heroine too beautiful to believe. For once, a romance novel in which both hero and heroine fall in love not just because they were attracted to one another's looks. Okay, so it's been a about 20 romance books since I read this one, that I can't remember the characters' names, but I do remember the story and it is a great one and has tender moments which really made my eyes teary.

Summary: Beautiful and Poignant
Review: This is the beautiful story of two injured individuals who learn to accept themselves and love each other.

Gillian of Warewick has been emotionally abused and beaten by her father all her life. Her brother, William, protected her as he could, but he meets an early death. William had squired together with Christopher of Blackmour and had obtained Christopher's promise to take care of Gillian if anything happened to William. After William's death, Christopher, who is now blind, offers for Gillian and sends his friend Colin of Berkhamshire to bring Gillian for their marriage.

Gillian is easily frightened and often cowers or strikes out in fear. She is also not physically beautiful - as her father repeatedly told her. Christopher and his men are very patient with Gillian and want her to never again feel the fear and worthlessness instilled in her by her father. Their tender concern for her is quite touching.

Christopher has his own fears and vows never to love another, because his blind love for his beautiful first wife led him into the trap that blinded him.

As each rises from soul-deep despair and learns to see the good in life and in themselves, their lives begin to blossom and they grow to love each other. In the end, Christopher is actually thankful to have lost his eyesight, because with it he would never have given Gillian a glance. Without his sight, he could see past the physical world to what he never could have seen otherwise.

Summary: Excellent...as always!
Review: I really enjoyed this book...I was expecting all of Ms. Kurland's books to have time travel in them, so I was a little surprised that this one didn't, but I was NOT disappointed in it at all. The story was well written and kept me glued to the book wondering what was going to happen next.

Keep 'em coming, Ms. Kurland! I can't wait for the next.

Summary: Not Good
Review: This was the first book I read from Ms. Kurland and I am glad that I decided to give her another chance before totally giving up on her because she truly is a wonderful writer, but this story was just awful. I'm not sure why people liked this book so much, there was basically no plot, I don't even remember the h/h's names, I liked the secondary characters better and that's not saying a lot. I think this book was just too sappy for me (no offence to anyone who liked it). I kept reading the book hoping it would get better, it didn't. I think everyone just got sucked into feeling bad for the poor abused heroine and blind hero, I didn't. This was a forgettable novel. Don't waste your time or money.

Summary: I REALLY loved this book
Review: I have read hundreds of books but this has to be my favorite sofar. I can see by most of the reviews that people agree that this is agreat book. And it is. For those who complained that Gillian had a little self esteem problem do you read historicals very often? Consider the time period for pete's sake. Women were considered less then nothing even if they looked good. So if you have a pig of a father telling you every day that you are as ugly as mud and beats the stuffing out of you just to back it up you don't think you have a wee problem with self confidence. GET REAL! If not then you are a "better man than I Gunga Din". What Gillian and Chris felt was totally plausible considering the demoralizing experiences they had and it's gong to take more than a few days and a little sweet talking to get over it. I felt the story and the healing process were both well paced and very believable. Each had to come to terms with alot of past hurts and see the truth with their "inner eyes" before they could finally value their own worth. Add to that some solid secondary characters and some really good humor and you can't go wrong with this book. I particularly enjoyed Gillian's beauty and courage herbs. It was very touching how important it was to her to be everything she felt her husband deserved. And sad because all she really needed to do was be herself. I recommend this book. It really isn't like any book I've ever read before. And it shouldn't be compared to any other book either. There are some books that need to stand apart and not be compared to every other book you ever read. It also helps to have a warm heart and a romantic soul. It also doesn't hurt to be a fan of justice. And because of that I was more than pleased with Gillian's father's timely end.
