Rating: Summary: The Best!... Review: Unfortunately this was one of my first romance novels. I cannot seem to find a book to compare. JM is the best of the best and I have read them all. These are two of the most powerful personalities to grace any book. You cannot help but fall in love with them. They will both make you angry and happy. You can feel what they are going trough. Clayton is everything you could want in a man (except his run away imagination) and Whitney is everything you could want in a heroine. This book is one you will read again and again. I envy anyone who is reading it for the first time. Any avid historical romance reader will have to agree that Whitney My Love is a hard act to follow.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely captivating Review: This was one of the best books I have every read! My intention was to just read some before going to bed, but the book quickly became something I could not return to fast enough. The characters are incredibly enchanting and eachone will take a piece of your heart. I would recommend it to anyone!!
Rating: Summary: Judith McNaught Captures Your Heart!!!! Review: This is the first book I had ever read of Judith McNaught's and I'll bet I have easily read it six times. I absolutely fell in love with it. Romance in historical England with the english ton is the best! You will fall in love with Whitney again and again. I can't throw this or any other book of Judith's set in this time frame away. A must read.!!!!
Rating: Summary: Lovely Review: I am not a big fan of romances, but I must admit that I love this book. It is well written and completely engrossing. Perfect "get-away" reading!
Rating: Summary: Overall I enjoyed it Review: I have to say that I both loved and was disappointed with WHITNEY, MY LOVE. I like Clayton's character but I thought he may have been too arrogant for Whitney. He just jumped to too many conclusions about Whitney even after declaring that he loved her so much. And I was really confused with their constant misunderstandings with one another. Either Whitney or Clayton should have just gone to the other and say, "We must be thinking two different things here," because after a while, it just became annoying. But overall, I really liked the book and could hardly put it down. WHITNEY, MY LOVE is just one of those books that you just have to read for yourself and not take someone else's opinon for. But if you're a Judith McNaught fan, I think you'll find this book's strengths and weakenesses; moreover, its strenghts.
Rating: Summary: a keeper Review: I first read this book years ago, when I was a teen, and cried and laughed with it. I really identified with Whitney, and felt like Judith McNaught wrote so that we could really feel what was happening. I haven't read it in a long time, but it is just one of those books I can return to, time and time again. I just read a bunch of reviews about it (I was a bit bored), and realized that people either loved the book or hated it -- no in-between at all. I noticed a trend too, that those persons who hated it all stated that they 1) did not understand Whitney's behavior, and 2) thought Clayton was a monster. As to 1), a lot of persons said they didn't understand why Whitney obsessed over Paul. I mean, come on, she was a teen, he was the handsomest guy around. Did she really know him, no, but at that age, do you really care about knowing your crush? I mean, think back to your first crushes -- all you could think of was making some sort of impression, and sighing over him.... I thought her behavior seemed right on the mark. 2) As to Clayton, first we have to remind ourselves that this is not a contemporary romance- this was back in the day, when men were lead to believe they were the masters of all. Yes, he was overbearing at first, but through his love for Whitney, his hard exterior began to crumble, so much so that he was able to show his love for her in public, humbling himself for her. Do I like the fact that he "bought" her, no, but marrying for financial gain was common in those days.... and Clayton himself felt badly about it later on.I know I cannot persuade anyone who detests the book to like it... :)... all I can say is that I think it is a wonderful read... a portrait of two people changing, growing up and loving.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story Review: The book kept me in suspense. When Whitney got raped I hated the duke but then as you saw how much remorse he had for his act and how he knew he hurt her physically and mentally made me want to cry.
Rating: Summary: I could not love this book any more! Review: What an intense read! This was my first Judith McNaught novel and the one that got me; hook, line, and sinker. I enjoyed the new ending even more than the original, but even without it, this would still be one of my favorite books of all time. The characters are richly developed and actually act like real human beings, just as they always do in Ms. McNaught's stories. Simply spectacular.
Rating: Summary: Why Is Everyone Hating? Review: Why is everyone hating on this book? Can you write as well as the author? I think not. Judith McNaught is a very good author. This book only expresses what can really happen in life. Life doesn't always have Cinderella (instantaneous) happy endings. If the book had ended with her getting with Nicky or Paul would it have been so suspenseful? Would it have kept you up all night trying to reach the end of the book to find out what happens? Well I am glad this one did not end like that because then it would been boring to me. I gave it to my aunt and she said it was one of the best books she had ever read and she is just as avid a reader as I am. To fully enjoy this book you have to really read and understand what you're reading unless like other reviewers you will see a book that has no meaning. I have read a lot of Historical Romances and this is one of my favorites. Since this I have gone out and gotten A Kingdom of Dreams and Until You - the rest of the Westmoreland romances. I hope anyone that reads this review really takes this to heart. When I read the other reviews it just burned me up for them to be reviewing the story in such a way.
Rating: Summary: An Affair of the Heart Review: An all time Excitement with the thrill of falling in love with a Duke of a part of a world is Judith's cast of a dream style Romance. Judith has gripping themes and Whitney, My Love is no exception. A feel of a teenage crush and a harsh Dad packing her off to Paris in care of her Uncle n Aunt,Whitney blossoms into a beauty only to be the darling of the Duke of Claymore! Whitney is in trance of her teens crush but Duke Clayton Westmoreland is all out to win her heart in every possible way. Whitney is forced to marry the Duke and leave Paul because of her Dad's financial situation. Whitney is witty n independent nature who hangs on her own and the plots by Judith Macnaught are her exclusive style of writing. The Duke shows his anger and the rising passion for her is a page turning. Whitney, My love is about the 9th Duke of Claymore as Kingdom of Dreams is the 1st Duke of Clamore but the similiarity is somewhat close in characters as passion reigns strong in both books. Macnaught's stories are anyways, so exciting, romantic and ultimate stories 'Made for each other, Dreams turn true' sort that one could not resist reading the books - Of Coz when there is lot of Leisure to fill up the Spaces. A happy ending with happy tears n all cheers. Enjoy!
