Rating: Summary: Truly a book to love Review: This is the first book by Judith McNaught that I've read, and I was really touched. Then I read Paradise, and the switch in setting did not deter me -- I was hooked on JM novels! Whitney My Love has a touch of humor, but it also made me shed not a few tears, and I've never tired of reading it again and again, and felt the same way again and again! Truly impressive. Ms. JM has a way of drawing the reader into the story... Her characters are very real, her dialogues easy to understand. And both Whitney and Clay are unforgettable. You definitely have to have this!
Rating: Summary: One of the most in-depth, and emotional stoies I've read. Review: The first time I read WHITNEHY, MY LOVE I was a Freshmen in High School (I'm now a Junior) and I fell in love with Whitney and Clayton Westmoreland. Judith McNaught throughly amazed me with her skill in literally bringing the characters in this story alive. Unlike many other romances I've read and been bored with, WHITNEY, MY LOVE kept me not only interested, but it enthralled me. I couldn't put it down, and since then, I've read all of Judith McNaught's novels and loved every single one of them. But WHITNEY, MY LOVE has remained my favorite of them all. I've read it at least seven or eight times since I descovered it, and the best advice I can give to anyone reading this is to buy this book . . . You'll never regret it.
Rating: Summary: I don't get it. Review: I am new to Judith McNaught, but having recently finished "Until You", which I thoroughly enjoyed, I wanted to read about the characters when they were first introduced. So I went to "Whitney, My Love". I'm sorry I did. I couldn't even finish it. In "Until You", Whitney and Clayton are so loving and have such humor and obvious attraction in their marriage - in "Whitney", I can't see how they arrived there. Looking at the other reviews I guess I have obviously missed the boat. Although some reviewers agree with me. Really disappointing.
Rating: Summary: What a surprise! GREAT! Review: I'm the type of person who loves to read novels, but never has the patience and concentration required to last through to the end. I either read the beginning and then skip straight to the end, or just select the "good parts". With this book, it was completely different. One night I was restless and bored, so I grabbed this book that my mother had been reading from the kitchen counter. I didn't even know what it was about; I just jumped right in. And before I knew it, the sun was rising and the book was finished. Up until then I hadn't even been capable of doing that, but now I realize I just have to have an exceptionally great book for me to be able to focus and get into it. This is THE best book I've read it quite some time. Utterly romantic. I actually cried during certain parts, something I never do. This book moved me in ways I never thought possible. Though I strongly objected to parts of Whitney and Clayton's relationship, it was impossible not to know how strongly they loved each other. I HIGHLY recommend this book. As I type, I'm waiting for 4 other books I just ordered of McNaught's to arrive in my mailbox. :-)
Rating: Summary: Great but the 2nd one could've been left out Review: I loved the original one and had read it over and over again but when I got my hands on the hardcover, it was a disappointment because everything was oh so sweeeeet like nothing ever happened. it seemed as though somebody else wrote the ending and if anybody's read "until you", you'd know that most of the ending in the newer edition had already been included in until you (though in lesser details). i did think that the original whitney lacked something in the end but i didn't wish it to be turned out like the new one. thats why i rate it 4 stars instead of five (because of the newer ending).
Rating: Summary: This is a wonderfully well written book. Review: This book grabs your attention and your heart and it just keeps going. I will read this one more than once!
Rating: Summary: The best historical romance of the millenium! Review: Whitney My Love was the first historical romance I ever read... in 1985. I recently purchased the re-release in hardcover, and enjoyed it even more than I did fifteen years ago. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves reading historical romences, charchters who are not perfect and loves an occasional GOOD cry.
Rating: Summary: The whipping scene and the rape bothered me in this book ... Review: Why was either necessary? I think Whitney was a victim of abuse by first her father and then by Clayton. He is overly controlling. The author has used the spanking scene in other books as well. It used to be a more popular device in romances. Now it just seems disturbing. It's a well written book and better than some of her more previous efforts, but after reading it again I kept hoping Whitney had told him to go to hell.
Rating: Summary: The best Judith McNaught ever Review: This is the best book of Judith McNaught's thaT i ve ever read and I have read all of them mind you.
Rating: Summary: The most romantic book I've ever read......... Review: While some people would like to give this book less than one star, I would love to give this book more than five stars. This book personifies the most passionate love story ever. After reading this, I have begun reading Until You until the hardcover edition of Whitney My Love reaches my front door step.
