Summary: Good book, but not my favorite
Review: This book had a lot of good qualities, but I just couldn't getinto the characters as much as other Spencer books. In fact, the onlycharacters I really liked were Gabe, his brother, and the DuMosses. I admired Roberta for making a new life for herself and her daughters, but she was always so touchy and defensive. I guess I just don't enjoy books that involve either man or woman bashing. ... Another thing - I think the storyline of one of the lead characters not getting along with a parent is too common in Spencer's books (i.e. Bittersweet, Family Blessings, Separate Beds) It wasn't a bad book, but just seemed different than her other books.

Summary: A Summer to Remember
Review: This book is almost impossible to put down! It displays and engaging plot that has twists and turns that would leave anyone dumbfounded as to the final outcome!.... Roberta Jewitt is a newly divorced nurse from Boston. She and her three daughters return to her hometown of Camden Maine. She moves into a house(a real dump) and enlists the help of a carpenter named Gabriel Farley. The rocky beginning blossoms into a friendship, and from certain situations they encounter along the way, blooms into the love of a lifetime...

Summary: This was by far the heartwarming book I've ever read.
Review: This book left me with many feelings and few questions. It truly opened my eyes to the pain and suffering others go through at the expense of our cruelty. I found myself learning so much about issues in my own life and wanting to change myself and my thoughts on how to raise children, and about the kind of woman I want to strive to be. It was amazing how this book made me realize that I am not the person I want to be. I found it difficult to put it down. I laughed and cried throughout this book. I keep giving this book to family members and friends and they love it too. Please read it, you won't regret it.

Summary: This is an awsome book
Review: This is a great book about the harships of trying to be different. Roberta a strugling divorcie with 3 teenage girls. She has just moved back to her home town after a divorce with her cheating husband. Her mother and sister disaprove of her divorce or the thought of her new motor car and nursing job. Her slime ball brother-in-law buys her a house (with her own $200). The house is run down and desperately needs repair. Mr. Farley is hired to fix it up and Mr.Farley become friends and then more then friends. The towns people talk behind her back and make false clame. This book is great one thing that made it better for me is the fact that it is set in my home town, Camden Maine.

Summary: I totally enjoyed this book!!!
Review: This is the first book I read by this author, and I am very pleased with her writing. Ms. Spencer has a way of describing scenes that put you right there in the story. I was also happy to see that it was not full of sex and lust. Very tastefully done. I've ordered two more of her books, and am sorry to learn that Ms. Spencer has retired from writing. Judging by the list of the books that she has written, I'll have plenty of reading to do. Thanks for a wonderful, wonderful book!

Summary: A fast paced book that you can't put down, you'll love it!
Review: This novel really touched me,knowing that there was this woman who would do anything for her children and wasn't afraid of what the neighbors thought of her. She was persistent and didn't allow anyone to get in her way. I really enjoyed this book, there was never a dull moment and you couldn't put it down. It's definitley a must read.

Summary: Not as good as some of her other books.
Review: This was an interesting story. I felt like I had just entered a zoo. It is not a book I would keep for rereading though, because the heroine was such an airhead. Her other books grab at your soul and I feel that Ms. Spencer just didn't have enough depth to this story.

Summary: Endearing!
Review: This was my first Spencer book and I loved it. She gave the heroine a chance to prove to herself and her 3 daughters that being a woman is a gift, not a burden. In the time when women were expected to marry and SERVE the males in their life, Roberta had the spine to leave her husband and start over in her hometown, so small that gossip spread like grass fire! Her endurance and will to survive for her girls is very inspiring for the single mothers of today!

Summary: Awesome reading!
Review: This was one of the "newer" novels from Ms. Spencer I read and I was a little hesitant because it was newer..But so far I have read this book TWICE and would read it again in a heartbeat. I always like writers who can pull a reader into the book or novel to the point you see yourself there. That is what happens with this one. I traveled back in time and lived with Roberta and the kids and laughed and cried with them. I would have to say the most enjoyable parts of the book were when Roberta wanted to buy a car (how scandalous!!) and her first driving lesson. This is a love story, but it is also an adventure. Buy this, you will enjoy it.
