Rating: Summary: Unlike any other romance! Review: This book was also the first romance I read and hooked me on romances forever. It's the most unusual romance
I've ever read as well, with plenty of plot twists and suprises. Even if your not so into romance I'd check this one out
Rating: Summary: If you enjoy romance novels, you'll love this one! Review: I never used to read romance novels until one of my friends handed me "A Knight in Shining Armor", by Jude Deveraux, and now I'm hooked! This is definately one of those books that you just can't put down, keeps you reading into the wee hours of the morning!
One of her best!
Rating: Summary: One of the best. Review: A few years ago my friend started describing "the best romance novel she'd ever read" to me. About the time she got to the girl bathing in a fountain, I tuned out. However, a few weeks after that I was at a used bookstore and lo and behold, it was sitting there right at eye-level, beckoning me. I reluctantly bought it and stayed up the entire night finishing it. I love this book and now own the original paperback as well as the revised hardback. I re-read it at least once a year and it never turns sappy on me, like most in the romance genre do. The characters are lovable and have a certain depth about them. The fact that the ending isn't predictable is a big selling point and anyone thinking of delving into a little romance this summer (or winter, depending on where you are) this is a wonderful starting point. It got me hooked and I display it proudly on my bookshelf. Be warned that there are some rather intense sex scenes so if that makes you uncomfortable, you might want to avoid this for something a bit milder. This isn't a trashy book and there is an actual STORY. I love this book and you will too.
Rating: Summary: Awesome book! Review: This is the best book I have ever read. It is so full of love and romance and it keeps you on your toes. Hard to put down.
Rating: Summary: Kept my interest Review: This is my first J Deveraux book. The begining was hard to put up with. I hated for the heroine to be so weak of character. However, as the story progressed, I was able to experience her change step by step until she became a strong and confident woman. This is a story of hope and love that surpasses all barriers of time. I also enjoyed the small bits of historical fact regarding everyday living in Elizabethan times. For a time travel story, it was an enjoyable one. I'll probably be buying more Deveraux novels...
Rating: Summary: Best of the Best! Review: I passed on buying this book a couple of times as I had never read anything by Devereaux. However I was pulled in by the genre and story line. I adore time travel books! It was one of the best decisions I made since buying 'Outlander'by Diana Galbadon. This book was OUTSTANDING! ABSOLUTELY! Run, don't walk, to your nearest bookstore and get a copy - it's a keeper! The beauty of the story line remained pure and true throughout the book. Ms. Devereaux's prose was exquisite; her sense of pacing (timing) kept me turning the pages until the very wee hours of the morning. This is a tender and poignant love story with a twist; the main characters are well developed and one was never at a loss as to who's who etc. The time travel elements(he in ours & she in his) were entertaining but also one could sense the anxiety of the characters as they tried to cope with the unfamiliar. The intrigue of Nicholas' time (during Elizabeth 1's reign) is well presented. The 'bad guy' and his daughter are the perfect 'villains'. I cheered for Douglass when she finally finds her backbone & learns to stand up for herself! Parts of this book will make you cry & laugh in turns. The love these two people felt for each other jumps off the pages & wraps you in a beautiful cocoon. My heart hurt for them both during their seperations, but the ending was worth it! This book I will read again...and again...
Rating: Summary: An immortal love story Review: I was curious about this book since I've read so many fantastic reviews about it. I couldn't find a new copy of it in bookstores since its been published a long time ago. But luckily I found it in a second hand bookstore. I bought it, finished reading it in a day and totally fell inlove with the story. Its the kind of book that you never get tired off and you want to read over and over again. I haven't found a book yet that could top this one. It makes me hope and wanna fall inlove. I absolutely love it.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This book was recommended by a friend and is still a favorite of mine...if not her best book, it sure comes close.
Rating: Summary: I laughed, cried, and learned Review: As a high school English teacher, take my advice--get this book! I am lucky enough to say that Knight in Shining Armor was my first romance novel I ever read. A friend recommended it to me about 8 years ago and it was such a wonderul story, I thought I would love romance novels from then on. Unfortunately, I was disapointed because every romance novel I attempted to read just never really measured up. There is no cheese in this story. Deveraux's prose are so much more beautiful and without cliche despite its cliche title. Definitely the best romance novel I ever read and possibly even one of the best books I've ever read because it is so much more than an incredible romance.
Rating: Summary: Best of All TIME! Review: This was one of the first romances I ever read and I find that it is still my favorite after 10 years of devoted romance readership. This book, filled with adventure, heartbreak, love, loyalty, time-travel, humor, and intelligence, is one of the most deftly told and engaging works of fiction I have read.
The heroine, Douglas, is gutsy and smart, vulnerable but strong enough to fight and survive. The Hero, Nicholas, is strong and arrogant but altogether charming and lovable. I fell in love with them both and still enjoy the intracay of their romance after too many readings to count. Jude Deveraux is the Master. A must read and a keeper for All WOMEN!!
