Rating: Summary: ho hum Review: What a snoozer. I found Noah to be one of the more self-centered heroes (who obviously gets off on controlling a weak-willed, annoyingly naive woman). The heroine (what was her name again? Oh, yeah. Grace.) completely forgetable. Oh, except for her simpering virginal "please please please" can I drop to my knees for you? What, is she waiting for his permission? A strong heroine would just go for it, but with her we get "whatever you want, Noah. You're the big strong man and I'm just an overweight, unattractive woman (in her own thoughts, and I wasn't convinced she "got over it" by the end, either) who is greatful that you deign to sleep with me." I kept waiting for something interesting to happen that would make me believe these two really were meant to be together, and by the last page, I was still waiting. Too much temptation? I'm just sorry I was even TEMPTED to buy this book.
Rating: Summary: To hot to handle Review: This was my first "Novel of erotic romance", it won't be my last. The "heroine" Gracie doesn't have the perfect body and is unaware of how she can be sexy. Noah finds he doesn't have to have the slender model type to be turned on. They were a great couple. I can't wait for the story of Ben to come out in June.
Rating: Summary: Realistic heroine Review: Heroine: Lush and Curvy, like a Grecian statue After discovering his fiancée in the arms of a lover, Noah Harper breaks off his engagement with as much grace as possible, even allowing the young lady to publicly place the blame at his door. After a night of drinking himself into oblivion, he awakens to find himself in bed--with Grace Jenkins, sturdy dependable secretary to his grandmother Agatha, the conniving and controlling family matriarch. Grace has known Noah for three years, and loved him for nearly as long. When the opportunity arises for her to be intimate with him it is all she can do to say no. Though she might want desperately to be with Noah, Grace has too much honor and pride to take advantage of him when he's inebriated. But much to her wonderment, she discovers that Noah still craves her even when sober. The two throw caution to the wind and indulge themselves in a torrid affair despite being hounded by family and friends to break things off and return life to its former status quo. What worked for me: Generally speaking I don't enjoy reading about heroines who have to be dragged kicking and screaming to some semblance of self-esteem where their bodies are concerned. But even though Grace did have qualms about her well-padded figure, Noah certainly didn't care to hear them. Not only does he threaten to take her over his knee if she doesn't stop making derogatory comments about herself, he actually makes good on it! (And with rather interesting results too . . .) What didn't work for me: I know there are 25 year old virgins in this world, but even so I have some difficulty believing Grace's level of innocence. Was she so sheltered that she never turned on the TV, went to the cinema, or read an even slightly earthy book or magazine article? In this day and age it's nearly impossible to avoid having some notion of the sex act, even if one has never experienced it firsthand. (This is not to say that she had no clue what went on between a man and a woman, but it just seemed like she ought to have known a bit more than she did just from exposure to our sex-saturated society.) Overall: With a title like "Too Much Temptation" it should be obvious that this book features many steamy love scenes, (there's some coarse language as well) so fans of sweet romances are well-warned to steer clear. If you are looking for something spicy and light to read, you might want to pick up this book. I would have liked more details in the story as far as character background, but all in all, "Too Much Temptation" was a very enjoyable read. I haven't read any of Ms. Foster's other titles but I certainly plan to search out some of her backlist at my local UBS. :^)
Rating: Summary: Modern Day Romance? Review: I was not overly thrilled with the story line of this book. It seems to me that the author just ends up tossing Noah and Grace together, explaining it away by saying that Grace has secretly lusted after Noah for years, but really giving no explanation for his returned affections. I guess I was expecting something different when I purchased this book. While I DID have a hard time putting the book down, my only qualm was the way in which Noah and Grace finally come together...Plump, sweet, virginal Grace and handsome, experienced, closet-freak Noah get shoved together after finding his fiance in bed with another man, getting drunk with his brother, etc? I just didn't see it happening. Yes I realize its fiction. And I cheered Grace on all the way through, but I had a hard time believing that she'd submit to Noah's sexual whims since she was a clueless virgin. It amazed me that she's experiencing such intense pleasure and lack of inhibition after only a few encounters with him. (Wish I'd known all that stuff when I was a virgin.) Aside from that I thought the book was a good read. The descriptiveness, though erotic, never bordered on obscene and gave just enough to keep your imagination in high gear. If you're looking for a wistful modern-day romance to curl up on the couch with, this is the one.
Rating: Summary: A story to tug at your heart Review: First, I would like to say that Too Much Temptation was a wonderful book. You won't want to lay it down. For the need to finish that last page, feast on that very last paragraph, and savor that last tiny word is the real temptation. And while life is passing you by, you'll find yourself getting tears in your eyes as these characters tug on your heartstrings. Grace with her low self esteem and Noah with his hard outer shell, are just what the other needs. They heat up the sheets and fall in love in much the same way two people in real life might. Finding the beauty in each other, and seeing a side that no one else sees, that is what real life is like. These characters aren't perfect and their flaws are there for all to see, but as they trip and stumble through their emotions we get to see just exactly why they say 'love is blind'; which is as it should be. I was anxious to grasp every delicious bit of it, and I'm waiting ever so patiently for that ... brother Ben to get his very own 'happily ever after' ending as well. Noah and Grace is why I read romance books!
Rating: Summary: Lori Foster is back!!!! This books is Foster at her best! Review: I've been a Lori foster fan since reading her first Harlequin Temptation and have read every one over her books (including her e-book.) Lately I've felt that her newer books did not convey as much emotional depth as her older books. Given that I was dissapointed in her previous book and the price of a trade size book is more expensive than a standard paperback, I was going to wait to buy the book used. However a friend who had gotten ahold of an advanced reading copy was raving about how much she liked this book, so I took a chance and bought it new. I was not dissapointed. The book was fabulous; it's Lori Foster back in true form! I laughed, I cried, I ran the gamut of emtion reading this book. It is definitely going on my "keeper" shelf. Great job Lori! I can't wait to read about the brother next!
Rating: Summary: You Have To Get This Book! Review: I absolutely loved this book! I'm a fan of Lori Foster's work and once again she has out done herself. This is one of those books that hit me on every emotional level. I laughed, cried, and worried for and with the characters. Also the story is very sexy. It grabbed my attention from page one and had it til the end of the book. This is one of those books that you can read over and over again. Not to mention it makes me look forward to the sequel. Do yourself a favor and buy this book!
Rating: Summary: Searing! Very highly recommended Review: Rather than feeling outraged, Noah Harper feels incredible relief when he discovers his fiance in bed with another man. While he dislikes disappointing his grandmother Agatha, Noah had never been comfortable with Kara anyway. She was his direct opposite with her smooth refinement and polish. Noah needs a wild woman who can match his voracious sexual appetite. Grace Jenkins has worked for Noah's grandmother for three years, falling in love with him on sight. But it takes a night of drunken revelry with his brother Ben for Noah to recognize Grace's sensual value. Wet clothes, a black out, and waking together the next morning opens his eyes to all her erotic possibilities. So they strike a bargain. He'll please and delight her if she'll be his willing sex slave. But their sudden togetherness will meet some extreme obstacles when they both find themselves unemployed and the focus of his grandmother's ire. Author Lori Foster creates a sensual delight in TOO MUCH TEMPTATION. Grace is no ordinary heroine with her voluptuous curves and struggle to fit in her waitress uniform. Turning what ordinarily would be a painful fitting experience into a sensual, playfully sexy scene demonstrates Foster's erotic skills at her best. Indeed, TOO MUCH TEMPTATION's success lies in the combination of sensual realism of a modern relationship with heart searing romance. The hero and heroine are intelligent, quirky, and believable. The meddling grandmother likewise adds realism and humor, making TOO MUCH TEMPTATION too tempting to resist. Hopefully, Foster plans a sequel with the remaining Harper descendant! Very highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Too Much Temptation is over the top!! Review: Lori Foster just continues to get better and better, and in Too Much Temptation she delivers another 100% read. Grace Jenkins is a lady who alot of us can relate to; she's not perfect! She's shy, she feels like she's overweight, she's not completely satisfied in her job, and she has the hots for her boss's grandson (who just happens to be engaged) in the worst sort of way. She thinks Noah wouldn't notice her if she walked around naked! Noah Harper is the perfect grandson--he runs his grandmother's business, is engaged to a woman his grandmother loves, and pretty much falls in with his grandmother's every wish. Until he finds his oh so perfect fiancee cheating on him! Then he starts thinking about it--did he ever really ask her to marry him, or did they just fall into it? He feels relief that he's not caught in the relationship anymore, instead of the despair he should be feeling. But his grandmother is not happy when she hears he's cut off the engagement!! Grace, being the wonderful person she, rushes to Noah to offer her comfort and her support--never dreaming that while she's there, and inebrieated Noah will clue her into some fantasies he's been having about her?! This leads to Grace and Noah embarking on a sensual journey to experience anything and everything they can--but it will only be sex. Lori WOW's us with this story--it starts out with a bang, and doesn't let up for the entire story! Noah and Grace just ignite sparks off one another, and there is real emphasis on Noah liking Grace just the way she is. You can feel their relationship with one another build, and the SEX! Wow--it is sexy, sensual, and sweet. Her charachters are so real, true to life that they could walk off the page, and I wouldn't be suprised. While she has this wonderful, macho hero, she shows us his vulnerabilities, and his struggle to find the right answer within himself. I loved every second of this book, and can't wait for the sequel for the brother, Ben, who contributes some very witty dialogue!! Way to go, Lori!!! Don't pass this book up, folks! This is a keeper!! ...
Rating: Summary: Lori does it again! Review: I picked up this book last Saturday afternoon and had it completed by 11PM the same day. This is by far Lori's hottest book that I have read. You will love Noah and Grace because they are real people. Thanks Lori, can't wait for Ben's story.
