Rating: Summary: I'm struggling to finish it Review: Perhaps it's not the smartest decision to read a book like this after finsihing a Seressia Glass (author of "No Committment Required" & "Three Wishes") book, but I did it anyway. I have about one-fourth left to read of "At Last" and still gagging over the other three-fourths. I just can't connect with ANY of the characters, and when a reader can't connect then there's a problem. For those readers that have read books by Sandra Kitt, you almost get this feeling like Ms. Riley has read them too and then tried to use some of those elements in her book. I'm not accusing the author of such a crime, but you do get the feeling that the story line and other little details aren't original. The things that Caroline says just seem so unrealistic and the same goes for Brian. It seems like Ms. Riley didn't know where she was going when she was writing the book, for instance: why go through a whole ordeal with Brian and Caroline working at the same job and get us all hyped up about how they were going to work out a relationship when it would go against company policy and then 2 chapters later have her just out of the blue quit and then the story just goes on. It's like the author wrote easy ways out of situations (situations that could have really taken the storyline somewhere)instead of capturing the reader with these dilemnas. I've given Ms. Riley 2 stars because I'm an open-minded reader that does understand (despite how I may sound) how hard it is and time-consuming to write a book that pleases the majority. So, Ms. Riley, I will check out your next book. . .but at my local library.
Rating: Summary: Take a bow Lisa Riley Review: The relationship between Brian and Caroline is incredible from the beginning to the end. It's literally love at first sight for the both of them, although Caroline is incredibly apprehensive because of Brian's skin color. I love the fact that Brian loves Caroline so much and he's so persistent in persuing her despite her reservations of them being together. He willing defends his love for Caroline and won't let anyone get in the way of the woman he truly loves. I thought both characters were well developed and the book in general was incredible. I loved the added suspense of Ida, Pete, and Alex Brickman, although I do wish it would've been extended a little more. All in all, it's a wonderful book filled with sweet, touching moments, humor, and hot [scenes]. I'd recommend this book to anyone who's a lover of interracial romance or romance in general.

Rating: Summary: A good read Review: There were some serious editing flaws in this book and they got progressively worse towards the end of the book. Things like the print suddenly going italics and sentences breaking in the middle of a line and continuing being printed on the next line. However if one endures these print flaws, it will be well worth their time. This is one of the best IR novels I have ever read. At its core it was a romance novel. The book is well written and has one rooting for Caroline and Brian. It made me smile and even laugh out loud (a rarity these days). Yet it still dealt with issues facing the couple because of their different race in a plausible and realistic manner and did not ignore the issue with a "love conquers all" attitude. I like the author's style and will definitely read her stuff again.
Rating: Summary: Godd read of BWWM relationships Review: This book had a great plot and some intense moments between Caroline and Brian. This book was also not edited and had errors throughout the entire book! I felt there was not enough energy as the book took me a week to read. It never takes me more than a few days to read a book. I gave the book four stars because the plot was legitimate and the strength of the characters, the main ones and supporting ones.
Rating: Summary: I Wish I Were Caroline Review: This book was sooo good! Caroline, an African-American artist, is on her way to an interview when she bumps into Brian, a white techno whiz, as she goes to get into the elevator. Things just get better from there. Caroline is amazed at, and scared of, the instant attraction she feels for Brian. Brian, being an alpha male, is thrilled by it and ready, willing and able to follow up on it. However, the attraction is not the only thing that makes Caroline hesitate. She is also hesitant about getting involved with a white man, something she has never done before. To top all of that off, it turns out that Brian is 1/4 owner of the company where she accepts a job, meaning he is also her boss. Talk about your obstacles to love! Phew! Besides the romance, there is also suspense. Caroline is privvy to some dangerous information that she doesn't even know she has and Brian has this crazy ex-girlfriend who he hasn't dated or seen in years, who suddenly decides she wants him back.Through a crazy quirk of fate, she works at the same office. The ex tries to make Caroline's work life miserable. The book is one of the best I've ever read. It's well-written, descriptive, exciting and entertaining. The author does a great job of discussing the issue of interracial dating without beating you over the head with it. As a white woman, I learned quite a bit about why blacks may have problems with other blacks dating outside the black race. Caroline is beautiful, intelligent and talented. Who wouldn't want to be her? But the real reason I would want to be her is because she has Brian. If there were more men like him, women would never get divorced! He's awesome! I highly recommend this book. It's quite entertaining, though I could have done without the mistakes I found.
Rating: Summary: At Last! Review: What a wonderful story! The love between Brian and Caroline is truly beautiful. I almost cried during the "At Last" dancing scene. Ms. Lisa Riley you did a wonderful job.
Rating: Summary: Much More Than A Romance Novel Review: When I purchased this romance novel, I figured I was in for a typical romance story: lots of steamy scenes, mush and words stuffed between sex scenes. However, much to my surprise and pleasure, this extremely well-written book tackled many social issues including socioeconomic, racial and interpersonal relationships in the workplace and families. Seamlessly interweaving the aforementioned topics, Ms. Riley did an amazing job at making "At Last" much more than a romance novel. This was a love story about a true love that two people of two different races, classes and backgrounds were fortunate enough to find. The development of the characters, plot and relationships was equally as important to the author as titillating the readers with the highly anticipated steamy scenes. All characters were realistic, and well developed. And to top it off, there was quite a bit of mystery surrounding one of the main characters that made the book a marvelous read and very hard to put down.
